They are a similar in class of jacket. The Thorium is probably a better comparison, as it is a down jacket, and even though the Nebula is a synthetic jacket, it's insulation mimics down. However, all are of a similar warmth and windproofness. The atom just does not have the baffles of a down jacket.
@@meandmyjackets Thanks! I already have the Rab and was wondering if the Atom was appreciably warmer, but if they are about the same I'm good for now. I just got the Nuclei as my "step up" for when a polar vortex hits. Thanks for all your vids. Just wanted to ask, is the Epsilon more or less the same warmth class as the nebulon and atom heavyweight? is is it cooler. I'm in Chicago so wind is a consideration, but all of them seem windproof.
@@jonuiuc The Epsilon is lighter, and not as warm. In my opinion. It's a more breathable jacket, so even though it will resist some wind, you will still feel some cool air through it, as it is breathable. Better for high output activities than for straight out warmth. I have not tried the Epsilon Down Jacket yet, but I would assume that will be warmer. Your Rab should suite you well, (as would the Atom Heavyweight), and you can always wear a nice fleece under it for extra warmth. I would recommend something like the Arc'teryx Covert cardigan . I love that under my Thorium in cold weather under 25 degrees. I know Chicago well, I have family in Algonquin, and my son went to school at Carthage college in Kenosha Wisconsin. It get's cold there! I would really recommend layers!
They may have updated it. Rab seems to update things without any notice. So I can't tell you for sure. Anyway, I can't believe that they would make it worse.🙂
Thanks for all of your reviews , looking at this jacket or the Rab infinity Alpine . I want one jacket for the winter I don't mind layering , temps could be as low as -20 C , would like something that also has good windproof . Are either of these jackets warm enough??? . Any other suggestions you can recommend, I don't mind arcteryx but find them to pricey in canada , I also like the patagonia down sweater but not sure if its warm enough .. thanks
The infinity alpine and the down sweater are very similar, and in my opinion, the nebula pro is warmer, heavier. The mythic G is amazing, one of my favorites. Very light, very warm, but not a durable as the nebula pro. Arc'teryx has the thorium that is similar to the nebula.
would u recommend the nebula pro or the cirrus ultra for winter? or do you have any other/better synthetic recommendation for winter? because its hard to find a warm synthetic jacket.
I have not tried the Cirrus Ultra yet, as it is a newer offering from Rab, but I hope to review it soon. The Nebula pro is a nice jacket, but I would assume that the Ultra will be a bit heavier, warmer. The warmest jacket that I have with synthetic insulation is the Arc'teryx Nuclei SV. That is a great super warm, windproof jacket.
Really good video! Thank you
Glad you liked it!
How is the warmth / windproofness vs say the Atom AR (heavyweight hoody I think its called now) ?

is there a new nebula pro? because the nebula pro on the official webseite looks a little bit different.
