- The Patagonia DAS Parka is a very warm and capable Belay Jacket. It has a longer length, and warm insulation. This jacket provides great weather protection, and durability for climbing and other cold mountain activities.

this is the best and most thorough analysis on the DAS, thank you Chris
Thank you for watching, I hope that it helped you.
Thanks Chris, i always appreciate what you do.
I have both the DAS and the DAS Light and they're great. So many reviews don't understand the fit on the regular DAS but you've captured it well and it layers without obstruction over stuff. Including over the DAS light.
The DAS excels in the sort of weather that we "specialise" in here in the UK - multi-day trips just above freezing, sideways rain, wind, proper wet miserable stuff 😊
My Deerhound slept soundly in my DAS when we were caught out in some really foul winter weather camping overnight on Dartmoor. Great jacket, dries quickly and much easier to care for and wash at home than down.
I bought mine as a bit of an unfocused purchase but have used it a lot and wouldn't want to be without it now.
Tip: Chest pocket surprisingly small if you need to stash a phone, but if you slide the phone in "upwards" rather than placing it downwards it somehow fits.
Nice, thank you. It's a comfortable jacket to wear too.
nice review! thanks
@@Jacob-cg3zz Thank you.🙂
This is a great jacket I have the newer version and I love it, BUT, I'm 50 miles inland from Anchorage in AK and I'm a photog. The jacket is great but the hand warmer pockets are way too small, and there's no liner in there. This creates a major problem for me because if I have roomy `warm hand pockets while taking pics I don't need gloves even when it's 15 below. Now that I've tested this thing from 30 to 15 below I have to return it because of the small hand pockets with no liner. Really bummed because the rest of the jacket is pretty much perfect. Don't know why companies cut corners with the hand pockets when it starts getting below 28 a person wants their hands warm. I mean I'm willing to pay more $ to have hand pockets that are warm and toasty. Jackets for 48 degrees and up thats not an issue. Keep up the great reviews they are very helpful for those of us who are spending $hundreds$ on these jackets. Thanks for the post
Thank you for your insights. You make some good points. Great practical information for others. Personally I like the Rab Generator Alpine Jacket, it is similar in many aspects, but to me a nicer jacket.
Hello Mr Chris and thank you for your Video🙇♂🙇♂🙇♂, what is your opinion when compared to Helikon-Tex Men Wolfhound Hoodie ?👍🏻👍🏻
@@fmgraca sorry, I'm not familiar with that jacket.
@@meandmyjackets Thank You 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
wow~
How does it compare to Arc'teryx Nuclei SV?
The Nuclei SV is a heavier, warmer jacket. It has more insulation. The Das will be more packable.
@@meandmyjackets thanks for the prompt reply!
If you had to compare: Nuclei SV, DAS, ME Fitzroy & Citadel, RAB Generator for a winter mixed/ice climbing belay jacket, which one do you think is the best choice?
It feels to me like DAS is the least warm and Citadel is the most. I have heard thought that the Fitzroy is less warm than DAS so I'm not sure.
