Guys let's get 1K likes on this comment and we can get Phu to barspin on video..
I still have my 87 pro freestyle tour from when i was a kid. I worked so hard to put that bike together.
We’re going to be announcing the frame we’ll be looking into in the next video, and then we’ll host the raffle on epicbmx.myshopify.com
Been waiting for this!
more riding on these classics. I want to hear how they compare to modern bikes. Is the nostalgia worth the price of admission......for most people my age, yes lol
I bought a mongoose decade that Phu actually told me to cop after asking him if it was worth it. Has some wear on the frame .. but all original besides the tires. Having the og mags vapor blasted, If they don’t come out clean as I’d like I’m grabbing mags.. put some white kenda 55s on the wheels, clean the piss out of the frame an redecal it. And replace all the cables, bearings, brake pads and it’ll have a clean rot rod type look. Iv got a cpl bikes to finish before it but it’ll get there. Thank you for all the help Phu ur the man!!
The earliest I've ever been to an upload, I absolutely LOVE the old school vids. You guys should have entries for viewers bikes to be showcased in videos!
11/87 is a 88 technically, from October-December its technically the year after. I thought it had a axion 990 brake for a sec. Please find a original sr mallet stem for that bike! .They are 100 bux cheaper than they used to be,too bad i sold my extra one. It has a 86 decal on it but id probably leave it since its an og decal for history, and it has a aluminum cheese grader that looks restored maybe. Please update us more on this bike. Cheerz!! These are my fav bikes, ima go ride my 87 PFT now too btw, good timing.🤣👍
He also is misleading with the "coin roll" , people that know, know that the 90s (second generation logo) and it NOT being a full 4130 cr-mo Frame (or fork) are not that valuable to the purist
This bike is definitely not from the 88 catalog of GT bikes. In 88 they dropped the GT "Maui" Blue frame color and launched Electric Blue which is much darker. Also the 88 bikes did not hit the market until March of 88. Even so, you could still order an 87 bike in March of 88.
I found Phu on Bmx Museum yesterday. The countertops were the giveaway.
😂😂😂
Phu really needs to donate this ultra cool bicycle to me so that I can recondition it to ride with some fork standers and lots of stickers.
The GT 87 and 88 PFT and PP frame/fork are identical and have the bottom mounted 990 brake posts. Of these two the 87 frames are the most sought after and bring in big money. 💰
I love survivor bikes, restored bikes look fantastic. There is definitely need for both. If you want to keep a survivor. Acid bath to remove rust, then clear coat it to preserve that patina!
Phu is killing it! Barspins is all we need (besides the BMXmuseum project)!
Love that bike. I have 3 of those in that color. I would keep it as a survivor and for sure clean up that rust before it gets worse. If your gonna ride it I’d change the seat and tires for sure. My first real Bmx bike was an 87 gt pro freestyle tour.
Love my 87 PFT
WhenI was 13 this was my dream bike
That could be an 88 since it’s built so late in ‘87, but someone put the 86 Pro Freestyle Tour decals on the downtube…
The cheese grater chainring actually started out on the 86 Regular Performer and Dyno Compe I as a replacement for old cross in circle Redline type chainrings… so, by late 86 (in some bike shops) the cheese grater started to be seen on Taiwanese built GT/Dyno models (Performer and Compe I)
Raffle sounds a great idea !
🙏🏻🙏🏻
That is such a nice gt! 😊 damn phu does still have some skills 😂❤
I bought one of those for 25 dollars in 1999 and a month later someone stole it from my back yard.
Hey at least it was only $25 😪
@@AlfredoMancuso Yeah! I have a few stories. Pretty much all my bikes got stolen.
Prob the guy you bought it from.
I was twelve gt Dyno comp 1 white on black had it a week it was gone....try n take my shit now I'll wipe my ass with you're face! Any body know what a sick child badabling 20" is worth? Just came up on it in nice condition
Ahh the memories.
Interesting as the serial number is 11/87 making it a very late ‘87. Since it’s Maui blue (GT Blue) it could only be 1987 based on the double bend or S-bend frame.
Things I noticed are the seat post is not original. The seat is a viscount 2188 not a 2123. Which you pointed out it was not original. Fun fact: 1987 was the only year GT used the 2123 seat.
Downtube sticker is from 1986, not ‘87. Fork is from a Performer but appears to be Dayglo which is interesting.
Gyro cables would look better if they were Porkchop and all
White or at least Odyssey cables.
Need to get some LP5 GT tires on that bike.
Joisy boy knows his stuff fellas👍🏻 bmxmuseum member here as well😉
AND.... there is NO WAY that that crap performer stem came on that bike. It had to have had a mallet stem. Either that was built up one part at a time or the original forks got bent/cracked and maybe the stem did too? And then both got replaced with what was on hand? Just a thought. :)
You could put that as the 1st in the raffle without even touching it!
❤❤gotta love these

Bad ass find
Im loving the content , all the way from South Africa .
I like the old look and I like them painted too ...idk hard decision
Thats the exact same gt i sold in tucson az
This is the content here baby.
Put clear coat over all pant protect all the rust spots
I would at least clear coat it to keep it from rusting more.
I have one in near mint all original & I have had a few people trying to buy it from me. Mine has the lower frame mounted brakes but they are mounted differently?
I love the GT mags but no real pro or semi-pro or real BMXer drove them at the time this bike was built...it was already the Super Pro High Pressure 48 Spoke time
Cool heavy old man bike😂🤣
I like the rat rod look on the bike…it has its characteristics on full display like Phu
Hopefully the raffle is not tied to IG, then snap, then Twitter, then screenshot to win lol
If you guys could help me please, I have a couple questions.. I just bought a 1980 schwinn sx-2000 I believe the bike is completely original like a survivor. Only grips have been changed to Oakley 3’s. Tires appear to be OG but front scrambler seems a bit hard/ dry and started slightly cracking/ bulging. Very light surface rust on bars. What would you guys do? Removes rust and preserve it? Leave it as is? Or Change tires have it serviced and ride it??
Well that's up to you weather you want to keep it or sell it
Definitely leave the character
I like your bike.n and videos
How do we match bike paint?
Dont let the frame get rust holes!!
I agree definitely sacrilegious doing that to those bikes😢
Got any cornroll gee tee
Unless more than half the paint is gone on an origibal like that id leave it. Its cool and the only reason to pain would be to sell as a resto and youll probably never recoop your cost in it. These bikes the highly sought after bikes all have original paint and in NOS condition. Its crazy what people want for a resto and its not even original paint.
Alf should go mtb with me and the gang in az🌵
Dude WTF 🤬 why is that bike so rusted..... don't you live in Cali. P.S. I do know it also snows alot in Cali but you videos have palm 🌴 trees in your video's. Was that bike shipped from the Midwest to you lol. I still like the bike though considering it is a beautiful😍piece of HISTORY and it would fit in perfectly in Northern Ohio💯😃with my little stable of bikes and keep the videos coming👍.
❤
You need a online store.
Ride it like it is! Just make it functional. Just clean it up with soap and water and use it.
I have a black star rims
86 decals on a Pro Performer
Leave it like that and throw a pad set on there
Would restore it
That pour GT 😢😢😢 please please paint that bike a bring her back to its beautiful color 🆘 🆘🆘🆘🆘🆘🆘🆘........the history is already there its a PFT ....
i see slightly bent toptube
Save the 87 thru 89 Pro Performers!! Stop turning them into pro freestyle tours!!
Redline forks
That bike was 600
Restoring is boring.......never, ever touch that paint.
I had that bike in 87. Cool bike but the guy is annoying as hell .
Still not a lowrider
Wouldn’t really consider a low rider a BMX bike haha
Power loyalty and respect Fresno CA Mbomb
I’m coming through soon to pick up a bike be cool to meet y’all big dawgs 💯🫱🏽🫲🏾
