Hey brother. You may not read this but your videos with Phu at Epic during 2019 helped me get through some tough shit. Just the positive vibes and laughs go a long way. This was some of my favorite things to watch and have a good laugh. Thanks for being a humble dude through and through despite all your success & taking the time to make these with Phu. Support your LBS! 🤙🏼❤
*BTW I’ve whitened those OGK mags with Peroxide cream (used for bleaching hair) and leave them in the sun to activate. They come out looking BRAND NEW.

I was a huge freestyle bmx kid back in the 80s, and the GT Performer, Pro Performer, and World Tour were THE bikes everyone wanted. I met Eddie Fiola back in the day, and have been a huge fan of GT ever since.

Born in '83 here and I remember the kids that were 2-3 years older than me had those around 88-90 so you were right on the dates they first came out. I was the bike mechanic in the neighborhood so I ended up trading an all chromed mongoose for one and I had the original jordan 6's at the time. About to turn 40 this yrbut I can literally picture that time in my mind right now. Thanks for the good memory flashback. I'm glad there's someone out there with the passion keeping some of those amazing bmx's going.

Hmmm, pink 87 GT.... the one in my little pic to the left was spray painted forest green, lots of rubbing amd scrubbing later the OG paint is 98 percent there with all the OG parts, and a new sticker set. Those bikes were solid and around 200 bucks new...

I’ve seen those at the shop when I was passing through. I love the old school Gts. I’m glad they were able to get the frameset back before it shipped. I’ve seen too many scammers on social media pages lately myself. It seems like selling on eBay is the safer way to sell online then on social media groups

Just found your channel. Great content. Looking to get something to rebuild. Parents bought me a gt performer for my 14th birthday. 1 yr later one of my crank arms snapped at the pedal. My uncle told me he could fix it. A week after that he called and said someone stole it out of his shed. Funny thing he had his kids bikes, tools, and a three wheeler, but they only took my bike. Yeah I know he sold it. I'm 47 now and it still pisses me off.

Love the old/mid school bike content you guys have been posting. 👍 One thing I've always wanted to see done on video and explained clearly is how to install a 1 1/8 threadless fork onto an old school threaded 1 inch head tube frame, since pulling it off requires very specific parts from what I've read online. If Phu has done this kind of conversion before, it'd be cool to have him break down how to do it; I still have my old GT Performer frame from the 90s in my garage that I'd like to build up and ride, but only if I can somehow install a newer threadless fork onto it.

I found a purple 94 dyno air abandoned on the corner in front of my house in 2016, it was really rough because whoever had it kept it outside, it's been sitting until last week, I stripped the frame and painted it, I plan to do a complete restoration.

I had a Diamond back silver streak but I cracked the gusset & bent the forks, got a white pro performer in 84 came with a tuff neck stem, metal flange skyway tuffs, the rear brake was on the top by the platform & the platform tubes were slightly lower than the top tube, I fitted a potts mod a& a single cable ACS rotor it was an awesome bike, learnt to air the bowl on it & X up one footers. I met Eddie Fiola & Dave Breed on the world tour & I have a signed world tour poster & the stem pad from his candy red world tour bike.

From what I've learned is that DS represents Dyno factory Taiwan, 7 is 1987 and 09 September. Sticker on the seat post is just a sticker from '88 original decal probably pealed off from adjusting the seat post.

I checked and there was a cut tire inside making the space smaller and adding more pressure than it was supposed to hold as a mountain bike rim. The side wall splinted out and could have whipped me but it didn't. Nasty little strip of metal. Could've been horrible for me but luckily unscathed and experienced.

Great bike & you're right it's not a first generation Performer. The first gen. Performers came out in 84. The standing platform tubes were positioned directly in the middle of the top tube which although I think it looked better, wasn't practical for tricks which is why GT moved the platform up I guess in 85 maybe 86. You can spot an 84 instantly because of this. I’ve still got mine!
