  • It feels good to be back! In today's video I took my 1987 Dyno Detour (original) bike! Epic BMX (@_epicbmx) and Phu Vu were nice enough to give us the rundown on my bike and showing us how to differentiate the original/authentic versus fake or remake GT/Dyno parts and components.

The Dtour cme with Odyssey seat clamps. The Dtours dont bring stamped pretzel bars and they are steel and weight about 2.6 pounds(yes i weighed them). The stamped pretzel bars (Pro Comp)have the stamp on the ends where the grip goes and had a D and cro-mo on it and are 1.14 pounds. The mid bar on the pro comp stamped bars is also almost an inch higher and are slighter wider in the bottom than the Dtour pretzels so those might be stamped bars. or current reprops, also looks ta the welds. I just put some stamped bars on my 87 PFT that i powdered dayglo pink.

No one knows the exact day hour /But we can see the signs events all around us. And by the timeline, Israel is 80 years and 1 generation span according to bible text will be around 2027 , which israel was declared first in 1947 + 80 years = 2027 . so we know we dont have 10 years left as this is 2022 so the rapture, then the tribulation will be before 2030 for sure.
The rapture will happen without a doubt and it will happen much sooner than many believe (less than 10 years according to all the environmental, weather, astronomical signs ,israel timelines etc showing ). It will happen without any warning , not one , in an instant , catching masses of people off guard just like God always does, ie the flood ~ a rude awakening . No one knows the exact day or hour the rapture will happen is a certainty . THE RAPTURE CAN HAPPEN NOW at ANY TIME make no mistake !! . Please awake to Christ Jesus which is the ONLY hope NOW and dont let it be found out it IS all true later when its too late & many have been left behind in the most terrible times the earth Has Ever experienced Before and ever will...for anyone who sees this and doesnt know what to do please If anyone hasnt given their life and heart to Christ Jesus will have REAL BIG problems way bigger than any problems Ever had If left here on earth after the Rapture . After the Rapture The USA , Worldwide , will face More evils , Inner city chaos, firearm wars etc etc ,power & water , food shortages , military invasions, mass executions (yes much blood will be required by antichrist ) etctec than it Has EVER been seen Before and you surely dont want to be Here then . We Have Time NOW to change , please seek Christ Jesus while there is still time to save ! no one knows the day or hour of the rapture it will start out just like any other day and it will Take Place In the day In Broad daylight/sunny day , In an Instant FLASH without ANY warning ,& there will be peoples Driver Ids, cell phones ,wallets found in various parking lots,Purses, bill folds Found at work etc etc with NO explanation , and People VANISHING so No One can refute it has taken place. .romans 10:9-10 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead thou shall be saved! please share with others =IMPORTANTraptureready.com

Man seeing these bikes brings backs memories, I had a GT Performer in middle school, It was stolen and my buddy EJ and I went looking for it.. I told him if you find it, I'll buy you whatever you want.. we went walking down a few alleys and he said "OMG there it is" I thought he was joking with me.. he bent over the fence and pulled it out of some bushes behind someone's fence!! Couldn't believe it! All he asked for was a Dairy Queen for finding it.. ☺️ then a few years later someone broke into my screened in porch and stole it and it was gone forever!! 😔😭. Miss that bike, I lived in that thing! NO ONE rode back then, it was like me a handful of guys, I actually rode with John Gordon a few times!! He turned Pro! Good times man!

I owned so many bikes as a kid through teenage years and seeing the dunk brings back so much! I completely built a dyno from the top to bottom as a teenager with the best of the best because of my summer job, everything I made went to my bike. Unfortunately weed and drinking got in my way and after a few years I sold it for a hundred dollars and was involved in illegal activities. I wish to this day I would have kept it for my son, I was so proud and spent so much time and energy while riding my hardest, and investing everything unfortunately my thoughts lost there focus

Growing up, my buddy used to get brand new dynos like every two years. He was a big boy and would always fold the drainpipes backward. But everywhere you said there should be a "D" stamp, you are absolutely correct. But i remember that also maybe that sticker set color, shoulda been on the darker blue colored detour. I was like 14 so i can barely remember. And hescorrect about the mags too, and later on they looked like the ones hes took off the wall, and they had little gt's in ink printed in the corners where the mag spoke meets the rim. Although my buddy always had spokes, cause he would noodle the mags. And mags always sucked for stopping and were a million pounds. I had a pair of baby blue tuff 2's brand new and took em off after a week. My best gt ownership was a chrome pro performer frame and fork. We had alot of these old bikes between me and my friends. I also had the period correct to this bike, factory, bought seperately, gt power 3 piece cranks, with huge aluminum arms, and a shaft that would creak no matter how tight. Pro line flights it was. Badddest crank set ever made until the new profile style everyone uses now.

I came through because that bike lit me up like 1986!!! Every time I see one of those florescent bikes of the past it's 1 of those bikes I've always wanted and I never got because my dad was a cheap skate kept his $80000 salary and bought me a huffy. I never got to experience what it's like as a kid to be able to know what it's like to do real tricks with a real bike. I always told my dad man you make it extremely difficult buying a bike that's engineered just to make a profit and nothing designed for performance. I'm still collecting bikes. I hang them on my wall. As I get older I seem to be a collector. I just want to own everything in the world and just stare at it. I want to ride that bike so bad even though I am 6' 2. Today I can do all the stunts that I dreamt to do as a child. I didn't get to learn them until I was like 35. But I can do them and I can Bunny hop over 4' With a nice curb. I just really love the extreme forward design and style of these bikes they are forever!! They are such physical symbols of time. They were the lamborghini and ferraris for us kids in the eighties. There was always a kid that had one of these ferraris and I was never about GTA. I kept my hands to myself.

I always preferred the riding to the building! On the subject of Dyno bikes, there was one chained up and rusted to hell for over 10 years outside a ramen shop near me in Tokyo. I wanted to cut that thing free but I guessed it might have been the shop owner's. Then one day it was gone. It was probably almost 30 years old. All original as far as I could tell.

I had a newer gt dyno with the 3 star mags and gyro, pittbull brakes back around 2003ish.. It was probably not 10 years olds and perfect.. I think I picked it up for like 40 bucks or something.. I wasn't that much into biking at that point but I rode it a little ... It was nice but I liked the late 80's early 90's ones better.. to me that was the bike I always wanted growing up back then.. It basically was the same but newer and it was freaking heavy.. I think a gt looks good with the 5 star skyway mags.. The 3 star, I was not a big fan of.. But it was original.. I moved and ended up giving the bike away to someone that sold it for like 20 bucks at a sale.. I was kinda bummed that they didn't give it to someone in the family that would appreciate it but whatever now.. Long gone perfect Gt Dyno performer style..Someone was probably happy to get it.. The bikes I had in the 90's would be worth a fortune now.. A small fortune at least..lol..

I owned a powder coating company for years. I hope no one was grinding it down to prep any piece for paint hah. I would sandblast/mediablast it to remove the previous paint and then run over the piece with some sand paper to smooth out the surface imperfections from the blasting. with that said, if the stamp is light enough between sandblasting and coating with the new paint the stamp may become less defined. If you skip the blasting you will have to strip the paint and then hand sand the piece but you're guaranteed more issues with longevity of the paint job as the paint doesn't grip well to smooth surface. So unless someone getting the piece redone stated they wanted the stamp to be visible we never worried about it and instead focused on making sure the customer got a lasting job.

Turn it over & run the serial numbers . It should be on the bottom of the crank bracket . I think that’s the only way you could really tell if it’s a Comp , Detour or Pro Comp . My friend back in the day had a DYNO Detour & this looks the part but who knows . It’s sad that people don’t take the time to really put these mid school bikes back the way they were , all original . I can see if someone customize their mid school bike to replace factory parts with stronger more high grade parts like me & my friends did back in the day such as rims , seats , grips , break systems , chains , sprockets back wheel & main , pegs too also tires. I ran with Haros & I still have all of mine , I run all the same parts on each of them the only difference is the frame & forks & all of them are different beast l they respond differently to different scenarios of riding & I wouldn’t trade any of them for the world . I’m 49 years of age & I still ride just like I did when I was a kid . You could say I never stopped riding & you should see the look on kids faces when I’m at the local skateparks wile riding a mid school bike doing new school tricks , it’s mind blowing to them & there are some tricks people can’t do with these newer bikes because of their frame & fork dimensions & they don’t make bikes out of 4130 Chrome Molly anymore so I have the best of both worlds wile riding .

It was possible to actually develop a nice patina on the original painted freestyle frames back then, from where your feet would hit during flatland tricks. Usually, the worn areas would show up on the top tube, and near the dropouts, if you had pegs. You felt accomplished when your frame started wearing to bare metal. Seems like Mongoose blue (FS1?), and that mintlike green on the Decade really were easy to wear through.

It's a bit customized, and gets plenty attention. If I can't bring it in, I flip it upside down, plus disengage the free coaster. I'm in and out that store quick as greased lighting too 🤓👍🏽!
