The fact that the family is suing just shows the level of disrespect these people have for their community and the safety of the public. It’s disgusting.
Years ago a judge would reprimand a lawyer for bringing a frivolous lawsuit before his/her court. Now it’s all about the money and political power. We can go on and on about families but the radical leftists are controlling this and don’t care about family integrity or right and wrong. They only care about getting what they want at all costs.
The reason for the suit is unlawful death. He didn't point the firearm at them. It was in his pocket well according to what they're saying.. not only did the officers have no regard for civilian life by shooting them? AR-15s and their handguns at houses. Awful death suit because they knew what was going to happen. They let him rob the store instead of stopping him before he robbed the store.. They just did this so they could shoot him obviously
I despise it too however it’s necessary to have the ability to sue for wrongful death, it’s unfortunate that people take advantage of it but nothing is ideal.
A known felon commits an armed robbery while ALL the police are watching and then he pulls a gun as he is trying to evade arrest and his family is trying to sue?!? Make that make sense...
Houston? Say it isn’t so! Of all of the Houston videos you’ve covered of armed robbers, this might be the first one that the perp has actually faced the consequences. If this was one of my children, the last thing I would be doing is filing a lawsuit. I would be asking myself, how did I fail as a parent?
In alot of these cases where families of the criminals sue, predatory law firms attempt to offer thier business free of charge, hoping to get some kind of settlement on a technicality. Reasonableness, department policy, handling of the body after death etc. Getting a successful judgement on wrongful death is the icing on the cake and some do pull it off even if the deceased had a weapon in play.
John and Mike make an excellent point: the quality of the gun doesn’t make an accurate shooter. It’s the same principle everywhere: a great musical instrument doesn’t mean a terrific performance. A wonderful camera doesn’t make gorgeous pictures. A top-tier set of pans doesn’t make a great meal. A fancy gun doesn’t make an accurate shooter. It’s the human element in all of them.

Don't live a life of fear. Take the chance and approach firearms as a tool/equalizer. They should not be used immediately instead only used when a situation gets escalated out of your control. Go to firearm safety and self defense classes to understand that a firearm is a tool, not a weapon
I can hear and sense his level of grief, regret, and desperation when he says "im down, im down" - its almost like he was not surprised that he was about to meet his maker.

I love that no matter what family always sues. This guy could have been actively killing a baby and they would still sue. So disassociated with reality...
It is always sad to see another human lose his life, but his life was lost long before this shooting. His life was lost in the long and gradual process of him believing that he could take what was not his to take without consequence. The LEOs in this video are heros for protecting the citizenry from this man.
You bring up a concern of mine I’ve had of late, seeing a number of videos of officers giving someone who’s an active threat a “chance”. I fear if it keeps happening, it’s going to become expected of police departments, in general, and those who don’t leave an outcome to what boils down to sheer luck are going to face a terrible time of it.
To your point about the officers in this video concerning the urgency of first aid, I'm very glad you highlighted that. Put this video next to some of the other videos on your channel with OIS and it's a fantastic representation of the level of difference in training and experience across the board with our men and women in blue. A perfect pov to consider before dealing out harsh judgment. The officers here with their long guns and 5.11 obviously have extensive training and experience as well as the luxury of having 10-12 additional units already on scene, in broad day light. Compare this to some controversial OIS where it's just one, maybe 2 officers on scene with minimal training, equal or less firepower, in the middle of the night. Big difference.
This officer obviously spends his time at the range and I thank him for that! None of those who were killed were good boys, regardless of what their mom says. This officers acted in good faith and protected us and his fellow officers from some bad people. Thank you!
Accommodations to the LEO at the rear quarter panel of the vehicle to recognize he is in line of fire and moved behind the vehicle. Nice work all around for the LEO's. Thanks for sharing.
It should also be pointed out that the officer that suddenly was in his backdrop next to the car, realized very quickly that they were now a backdrop for the shooting officer and they quickly disappeared behind the car.... The officer side step so quickly behind the car that I had to back it up because in the video it seemed like the cop in the backdrop just suddenly disappeared...... Kudos to that officer as well. Furthermore with a group of officers like this walking up on a man like this committing a armed robbery, this is God's way of saying that he's eliminating this man to protect many others in the future.....😂
If you are injured or killed in the commission of a crime neither you or your family should have the right to sue. I would really like to see counter suits filed in cases like this.
There needs to be laws to have reverse charges to families that want to file a lawsuit claiming wrongful death,,, I'd say any suit that is filed just to mess with the local police,,, if they have a case and "win" than all charges are dropped,, all expenses will be paid,, and then whatever the settlement is will be paid by that local police department,, but if these families lose their wrongful death case, then they are responsible for all the local police's legal fees and end this waste of frivolous lawsuits,,, 👍👍👍
