  • Versatile pioneered the 4WD tractor and built the D-100 and G-100 way back in the mid-1960's. (Mike still remembers the first one - right?)
The Versatile tractor has a long history with agriculture and having their start in Winnipeg, Manitoba starting in 1965, the 4WD tractor development has been fascinating to watch. Our first house was on Clarence Avenue in Winnipeg and I could watch as these "beasts" rolled out the door.
This video will show a few different models still pulling their weight - and then some - in the fields of Manitoba in 2020.
    Enjoy!

👍Very nice collection indeed, well done! 👏 5:55, What a contraption! An angled seeder/planter with discs? And three of them! Any idea from when this one is, perhaps a name, model or (glory) closer video? I believe Farming4G have used some type of combination of moldboard plow towing a seeder but this one... You've "made my breakfast" today, thank you 👍

Thx for the comments - The diskers are Massey Ferguson: two are 18' and the third is 15 ft. Most manufacturers made them back in the day. The "disker seeder" was very popular in western Canada in the late 1950's, the 1960's and into the 70's - just before the air seeder became the standard. What was nice about these units was that they cut off any weeds as well as placed the seed into moisture and covered them up. Fields had to be harrowed afterwards to smooth them out as the disker left the field a little uneven. A huge negative with the disker was that with continuous use, the centre of the field eventually got hollowed out a little because you kept going round and round and throwing the dirt the same way with every seeding operation. Look for "Seeding Wheat with a 706IH and a Disker Seeder" for an early video of mine for a little better look at the disker itself.
      Thx again!

Nice to see a good collection of Versatile tractors, old and new-ish earning their keep.

    Hello Peter Agriconguy:
    2:12
500 with the problem prone inboard planetary final drive row crop axles swapped out for the more reliable outboard planetary final drive axles (probably borrowed from a 145).

Great video. I didn't think anyone used discers anymore.
