    Thank you once again for sharing your ideas and the Facebook group is a brilliant idea. I build my 1st street bike powered sand rail 26 years ago, well before the internet was even a thought. With countless trips to the boneyard and many hours of lathe work i came up with a compact somewhat lightweight 930cv setup with around 16" of travel. Implementing "off the shelf" parts will make projects like this more approachable to someone with little to no machining/engineering experience. You should be proud of your design and most important, thank you for your service 👍

    you should look up American rally cross rule book for cross karts it has size dimensions listed as well as weights and power regulations, you should get on spec with them if you decide too sell kits. I think your close and if not can adjust with just longer arms etc. again I love your work and kart design the best from what I seen being built on RUclips

    • @KJRaycing
      @KJRaycing  3 года назад +1

      That is one of the best compliments you could give and i thank you for the inspiration. I took a look at the amercan version and it looks like it used nearly all of the same concepts as the european one. Since this is primarily designed around single cylinder atv engines and not hyabusa engines, i didnt think it had to meet the amercan one. The dimensions are within spec for both rulebooks because it is a max dimension, track widths can be fully customized and additional crossmembers can be added.

    I have watched most of the videos on the cross kart build and want to build one of the larger (V2?) single seat karts using your plans and instruction. In pricing materials at the moment there is a considerable cost in metal and was wondering what you thought about constructing the initial jig for the frame out of wood, rather than square steel tubing, since the construction of a single kart could be decreased several hundred dollars by doing this.

    • @KJRaycing
      @KJRaycing  3 года назад

      The tallest tire i’ve put on are 23’s, just because i didnt want to mess with the gearing too much. They were on steel wheels and the tires themselves are pretty heavy. Grass and dirt couldnt tell much difference, but in loose wet sand and a little mud the 500cc single bogged just a bit. I personally like about 22” tires on aluminum wheels, makes it really snappy and feels really good. 👍

    What manufacture is the pedal assembly and master cylinders you are using here? Have been looking at both Wilwood and Tilton floor mount pedals but yours, particularly the master cylinders used, looks more compact.

    • @KJRaycing
      @KJRaycing  3 года назад +1

      They are tilton pedals and tilton compact master cylinders, i’m putting together a full component list, but it takes a little while to put two years of research, sources and costs into an easy to read format. I have notebooks and binders full of the trials and errors. I hope this helps!
