    What a fantastic feature. I've been playing with it for a couple of weeks. I normally have to do all this in Ableton, so this is going to be a game changer for me. Great video again my man.

    Thanks, Jason! I'd watched a few other other tutorials where it did not specify clearly when/when not to engage the "Listen" button on the Sidechain controls and thus wasn't hearing any results from the Sidechain engagement.

    Ha! I just used the F6 EQ with sidechain on the music track. Set band 4 at 1K Hz, range of -12 and the threshold super low to automatically carve out space for the dialog. Great video man! I'm so happy sidechaining is getting an update.

    9:30 Yay! VST Sidechaining! Exactly what I was wanting to see. I have one question, can each plugin have a different source track? Or if you change the source on one plugin does it change it for all other pluings on that track? Thanks!

      Each plugin can have it's own source from my testing. 😁

      Awesome! This is something I love about Reaper's sidechaining, so having it in Resolve also is great news. It's very useful for things like ducking background music differently based on the source (dialog, sound effect, etc).

    Great video, want to comment that it doesn't look like this any more in the release DR 19, there's no need to select tracks, just send and listen. Also, I really don't understand why this is part of the compressor settings - 99% of the music I use is already polished before I lay down the track and doesn't need compressing again.

    • @JasonYadlovski
      @JasonYadlovski  4 месяца назад +1

      Thanks! Are you sure you are on Version 19? It still looks like this in 19 and what you described is the way it worked and look ing 18.6 and earlier. Just wondering since I still see it the same as in this video.
      Using the side chain like this will just allow you to automatically duck the audio under something like dialogue. It's not to add compression to a track for further processing. You can also use other effects with the side chain now too, so the effects on one track can react to another track - like using a dynamic EQ like the F6. Hope this helps, thanks for watching!

    oh I need that feature so much, thank you for explaining!! I have a problem here , not sure if it is a resolve studio bug: I cannot choose the Dialog Bus in the Sidechain, just the normal tracks appear. Do I have to do something specific with the Busses, that they appear? It is weird, that they dont appear. I just set them up like you explained in another video with --> fairlight --> bus format

    • @tatv2316
      @tatv2316 5 месяцев назад +1

      I found it: If i had more than 35 channels of audio, the menu doesnt scroll down so you cannot select the busses.. guess that is a beta bug still..

    Hi Jason, Newbie question... I was wondering if you could bounce your multiple dialog tracks to a single track and then use the Ducker feature to control your music levels around that track? Would that work, or would it be more work than the sidechain method. And, Thank you for all the informative content you put out!

    • @JasonYadlovski
      @JasonYadlovski  8 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, you could do that, but then you can't edit the dialog if you need to because it's all baked together. If you knew your audio was 100% done, you could bounce it. It's not a problem to do so, just depends if you want the audio to be editable still.

    Great demo Jason. Do the new sidechaining features include the ability to control how much input is sent to a sidechain? This is something Pro Tools does, as opposed to a simple on/off selection. (I'm eagerly waiting for DVR19 to come out of beta before switching!)

    • @JasonYadlovski
      @JasonYadlovski  8 месяцев назад

      Thanks! You do have the option to control the amount of signal sent if you use the 'send' section of the fairlight mixer instead of the Bus Output section. I talk about it in some videos, but I don't have a video about just that.

    Hi Jason, thanks for the in depth review and the well explained examples. 😎👌
    The main reason why I refrained from using the sidechain is that the music was dimmed down nealy instantly and so a kind of saw tooth curve was created. The new ducking feature in the edit page solves this problem be introducing the long expected feature of LOOKAHEAD.
    Did I miss something or is this still not available with sidechaining?

    • @JasonYadlovski
      @JasonYadlovski  8 месяцев назад

      You can do the same thing when it comes to sidechain, you just need to adjust your attack, hold and release. Essentially does the exact same things as the tools in the new Ducker, they’re just called different things.

    • @deBabba
      @deBabba 7 месяцев назад

      @@JasonYadlovski Thanks Jason for the fast reply. I still can find an option in sidechaining wich does the same as lookahead. Attack is triggered directly by the source so comes too late. Am I wrong?
      Thanks again. 🙏

    Some buttons changed... But what's new? I've been doing this for years almost exactly this way 😅
    Have I been using some unknown hidden feature?? I'm really getting a lot of WTF vibes here 🧐

    • @JasonYadlovski
      @JasonYadlovski  8 месяцев назад +1

      Yes the buttons changes, and now you can select from any source track or bus. Before you could only ‘send tracks’ and have tracks ‘Listen’ so it’s really like one sidechain. Now you can sidechain effects on the same bus/track to multiple sources. It functions a little more like a typical daw. 😜👍

    • @HaroldKuilman
      @HaroldKuilman 8 месяцев назад

      @@JasonYadlovski you could bounce the combined tracks to one single track and use that as the "send" track and listen with the track you want to lower 😉
      It's been made easier but it's not "new"

    • @JasonYadlovski
      @JasonYadlovski  8 месяцев назад +1

    Nice one but how do you combine tracks in a bus?

    • @JasonYadlovski
      @JasonYadlovski  8 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks! Maybe I'll make a video about that, but if you look at 5:10 in the video, you'll see that I've sent 2 tracks over the the Bus. So the process would be to first create a bus, then in the mixer in Fairlight, go to the Bus output section and send the tracks you want over to that new bus you made. On the new bus, make sure that's being sent to Bus1 so you can hear it. Does that make sense?
