    Pat Benatar is somebody I need to explore more, but man am I glad I watched this video. Jamie’s passion for her music was incredible and the personal stories helped me to explore the idea of why I listen to music myself. Jamie, thank you for sharing.

    I think I saw Jamie in his most passionate state, and why not! Growing up I too had my one and only rock and roll crush on Pat Benatar. I really liked her in that pixie haircut...she was adorable. Then she would sing, she was even more beautiful. Having said all that, I witnessed her #1 fan in Jamie, hands down. Her voice is versatile, but I do love when she rocks. "Hell is For Children" still gets me to this day.🎶🎤

    Great show Pete and Jamie. This I think might be my favorite album ranking episode. Not because of the band but to see and hear Jamie get so excited was awesome. You could tell this was more than just a ranking for him. Great job Pete for letting him has have this moment. Awesome show!If you stop and think about it, I’m sure we all have some kind of emotional connection with either a song or an album that just means the world to us for one reason or another. A couple of these newer albums I have not heard but after this show guess what I’ll be listening to tomorrow?

    This was brilliant, and as another life long fan, it was so great to see a guy be so passionate about an artist unashamedly (and also married!) who he blatantly loves! I also get his top two choices (my number one is the same) as albums mean the most to you when you share them with no one!

    Pat Benetar holds a very special place in my heart. First: Back then, when I first heard her powerful voice and then saw her, I fell in love with her. Pat and Neil still remains in that special place in my soul. I do have many of her early albums on LP, but have some on Cd too. Great music through and through. At almost 70 she is still so hot and sweet.
    Jamie, I have similar feelings. Their were years I thought I would take my life, because of the stuff I was going through. Pat and Neil was one of several bands that kept me alive. I owe them my life and my love for them is steeped in love. To meet her and Neil in person and spend 15 minutes with them would be so very special. They are two very incredible beautiful people in love with each other and go way beyond classy soul mates through and through.

    I grew up listening to Pat like everyone else my age. If you had a radio or MTV, she was inescapable! In the early 80's, my first real job was at a record pressing plant, and we made tons of her "Live From Earth" and "Tropico" albums. Somehow, I never managed to see her in concert back in the day (guess I was too much of a metal-head back then), but I finally rectified that last year when I saw her and Neil live in Brown County Indiana, right after they were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. She introduced the classic songs by simply stating the year they were released, before launching into them, to the crowd's delight. Super fun show, and her pipes were as good as ever!

    I would never in a million years believe that I would sit and watch a 90-minute video about an artist I never listen to, don't like and don't plan on listening in the future. But Jamie is so passionate and so genuine in his love... That's what music is... This became one of my favourites and most precious video on this channel and it's on something I don't care about. Thank you Jamie from the bottom of my heart for displaying such passion.

Born and raised in Pittsburgh PA brought back many memories that you mentioned with Ross Park mall when you bought Wide Awake in Dream land. I however remember at Stedford records on the north side. One of my fav old record stores. Of coarse seeing her at the civic Arena for Get Nervous & 7 the Hard way tours. Now living on the west coast in Vegas I've seen her play many more times in OR, LV & LA . I've met her daughter in LA last year in Sept at one of the first shows of the tour in 2022. Cool selfie with Hana and we even bought Hana's first round of drinks before the show. Super cool memories

    I really enjoyed this show. I can't do a ranking myself as I only own the middle four studio albums: "Get Nervous" thru "Wide Awake In Dreamland". I really like these four albums but "Seven The Hard Way" is my favourite. I was disappointed that when Pete name checked the tracks, the only one he didn't mention was "Run Between The Raindrops" as this is a personal favourite. Pete and Jamie both often alluded to the fact that Pat was pretty much always easy on the eye, so I was surprised they didn't mention the cover of STHW where I think she looks particularly stunning. I am also slightly bemused to hear that when a track is not a hard rocker, it is deemed to be a "pop" song. There is no way that I would describe "Too Long A Soldier" (off "Wide Awake In Dreamland") as a pop song. I would describe it as an emotional pop/rock song with a strong message. At nearly seven minutes long, it's too long to be a pop song in my book anyway!

    Pat Benatar is Very Special to me as a Music Fan! OMG I LOVE Her!! She & Joan Were the 2 BAD Girls of Rock Main Stream, When I was in elementry school, a High school student decided out of the blue to just give me a 35 EP of Heartbreaker, with My Clone as a B-Side. I went home & played this on my little Spiderman record player, which I played Sesame Street, and a few other kids stuff and just fell in love with this Hard Rock, Almost Heavy Metal!. Then, the son of my fathers best friend, knew that I Loved this music, gave me KISS Alive II and KISS D-Platinum and on the same record player & my future was set for music! I also got Bad Co "Gone, Gone gone" and Stones "Miss You" 35.. As almost a preteen I started collecting all of Pat Benatar's tapes with a fever, starting with "Best Shots", (A "Great" Beginners Guide to Benatar BTW!), up to ultimately "Wide Awake", where after, I gradually lost interest, when she started the Blues mellow thing after... I tried a few of the newer stuff, here and there and just said Ehh.. I Do Need to hear more of the newer stuff for sure and give it a chance. The last Great album for Me is "Seven-THW".. The first 4 albums are Priceless classics for sure! The album covers and music prove it. It was not about commercialism, that would prevail, it was Music First! Pete I acctually rank this album at Almost #1 about! = Very UNDERRATED, Very well produced. Came out at a very bad time though in a way. The production of the Actual TAPE and sleve was reallly Weird as it was thicker than most.. This is a Weird album, and I LOVE IT! Is it her Best?? Maybe, but not a true classic! I can go either way, but very underrated for sure!
    I Did not know that Heart Breaker was a cover! I feel the shock of this after I learned about BOC "White Flags" & Queensryche "Gonnet Close to You".
    Great topic Pete & Jamie! ;-) I Can not beleive that she is 70 Years old now!! I would think that she might be in her early 60's rig ht now,.. But Time maskes everything about perception. But Pat is PURE 80's Americana for Sure, right along with Madonna, Cyndi L, Blondie, Missing Persons and Berlin! IMHO! She is an Icon.
    My Faves's 1's=

    Crimes

    ...... finally a show on Pat Benatar one of the great female rockers of all time...... I heard somewhere she was taking Hit Me With Your Best Shot off her setlist because of so much gun violence in the country...... I always thought the song empowered women

    Tropico has only gotten better with age. Back in the day I was a bit put off by its softer material but there’s some really fantastic songs on that album.

    ... never been one for actually ranking albums myself - we like what we like (and it changes often) and I don't try to analyse it to that degree - but thoroughly enjoy watching many of Pete's ranking videos and comparing against my own (maybe even using the video to go find/buy a lot of new stuff!!!)
    However as we are discussing PAT BENATAR, I thought I'd quickly create myself a Spotify playlist; here's my default 'ranking' looking at the playlist afterwards and the results were quite surprising even to myself.
    Not scientific in any way - simply by number of tracks from each album added with only a couple of seconds scan and no deep thought process.
    Here we go...
    1 Seven the Hard Way (8 tracks)
    2= Get Nervous (7)
    2= Wide Awake in Dreamland (7)
    4 Gravity's Rainbow (6)
    5= Crimes of Passion (5)
    5= Precious Time (5)
    5= Tropico (5)
    8= In the Heat of the Night (4)
    8= True Love (4)
    10= Innamorata (3)
    10= Go (3)
    I knew I always liked Seven the Hard Way and could never really understand all the negative comments I'd seen/heard about it over the years - but I still didn't expect it to be top of my list !

    Fun watching Jamie geek out on Pat, though his rankings are a little weird. I agree with Pete: “Precious Time” is #1, “Crimes of Passion” is #2. “Promises in the Dark” is my favorite female rock vocal performance by anyone, ever. With all due respect to Ann Wilson, Janis Joplin, and other legends, no woman was as great a rock singer as Pat (and very few men are in her league too). The highlight from this show: Jamie’s use of “Dan Brown-ing” as a verb was priceless.
    Jamie, if you’re reading this: l assume you’re familiar with the live record, “Alive in America,” recorded in Denver while touring to support the debut album. If so, please share your thoughts! I love it-very raw, heavy, almost punk versions of those early songs. I haven’t heard any other recording in which Neil or Pat rock harder. Seems like it might be a soundboard bootleg, as it has been released with other titles too: Live in America and Concert Classics. (Edit: It seems to be official: www.benatargiraldo.com/music-details?dd_id=16.) If by some weird chance you haven’t heard it yet…enjoy!

    During the late 70's I seem to recall that Pat was much feted in the UK music press that championed heavy rock and metal - predominantly Sounds paper - so when I chanced upon a copy of her EP with Hit me/you better run/heartbreaker/we live for love, on red vinyl no less, I had to grab it. At that time I never got into any more of hers as neil Girlado dodnt come across to me as much of a gutar hero and at taht time I was getting into hard and heavy rock & metal bands with proper guitar heroes, until my then girlfriend kept going on and on about Sex is a Weapon, which I found t be quite the thing - through her i also got into Huey Lewis & the News , so I then ventured more into her catalogue and while I wouldnt say shes an absolute favourite shes definitely a great listen, and wouldnt argue with any of your choices.
    By the way Smokie are still going now, though there are no originals left - Chris Norman left years ago and pursued a solo career that headed into Country & Western territory, apparently he was big in Germany. Pete Lincoln who used to be in Sweet is now with them and the keyboard player and drummer have been with them snce around the mid 1980's. They were big in the 70's alongside the likes of Sweet and Slade and although they did rock a bit they were a lot softer veering towards Country at times. I only have a small interest in them as they formed at the same secondary school that 20 odd years later my son went to , and living in Bradford UK there's not a great number of top bands and musicians that came from here - most famous (to me at least) is Allan Holdsworth, thenthere's The Cult and Kiki Dee who duetted with Elton, Terrorvision, John Verity once of Argent.
