    Tinman, I have been a longtime fan of your builds. The only time I’ve commented was when you got the Ford with the 7.3. Living in Texas I don’t need a big saw to cut my firewood, but I really perked up when I saw you doing the 026. Us old guy that still cut wood to heat are really turned in on this project. Hope you and your family are doing well. Bob

    I ported a 026 last winter that runs and tunes and frustrates me EXACTLY like this saw . I deemed the wandering tune and die from high rpm from inadequate carb to air consumption through rpm ranges. Even under load condition. I'll follow this to see how you make out.

  • @classicfordmuscle
    @classicfordmuscle 4 месяца назад +2

    The wire being off shouldn't have anything to do with it , because the coil will make spark as long as it's not grounded out, the wire that was off is the ground wire that kills it through the switch.

    • @w6qd
      @w6qd 4 месяца назад +1

      That's what I wanted to comment on. I was thinking that not having that connection bypassed the switch for starting. In other words, the saw would have started with the switch in either the STOP or ON position.

    • @badasswood
      @badasswood 4 месяца назад

      coil makes spark grounded to the jug. the wires complete an out side loop to shut the coil off. if im testing a coil, i pull the grey and the green wire off. short block saws need a jumper wire from.the coil to the jug, thats the complete loop to create impass and send spark to the plug, otherwise known as a diode, or an emitter😉😊

    • @badasswood
      @badasswood 4 месяца назад

      on long block saws coil mounts to the metal case, or the jug, which is its impass ground, short block requires a jumper if the coil mounts to the plastic case.

    If you read my comment couple of videos back when I suggested to lift that metering flap you would've had it fixed long ago, the worst carburettor to work with it is bing as metering needle flap it's plastic but luckily only available on 028,038. I think it has air leakage also.

  • @Robert-uh6bx
    @Robert-uh6bx 4 месяца назад

    Whenever I got a flooded engine I light a bbq lighter and put it down the plug hole. Some engines will actually spin over a few revolutions. It burns all the gas off and pre heats the cylinder. I’m thinking that wire you hooked up on the coil was just for the kill switch.

The carburetor holds pressure its getting good spark the spark plug works fine in a different saw. Compression is good. Whats wrong.

    Why don’t you just spray some ether into the intake boot with the carb removed and then crank it? This should start the engine briefly and burn out a flooded situation. That would also validate that the ignition is working normally and that the carb is probably the problem. I do this routinely to validate a functioning ignition and adequate compression/vacuum.
