My grandfather cut a ton of firewood for many years with his 026 and handed it down to my father and he cut a lot of wood around the house with it for years and it’s now been handed down to me. Watching this video has inspired me to clean this saw up and have it worked over / tuned up to use around my property and maybe hand it down to one of my boys someday. Thoughts and prayers to Buckin and family
Cool build Tinman! New sub here. Did a similar one a few months ago. Rebuilt my 271 Farmboss with a 291 jug and a pop-up piston. Pulls a 3/8 full skip chain no sweat. Now that I've watched your vids on timing gotta play with advancing 10deg. Dang this is addicting! 👍
I run two 026s and a 460. I bought my first 026 when I was a teenager, and inherited the second one from my grandfather we he passed away. We cut firewood together for many many years with those saws. I still cut 10+ cords a year with my 026.
I love the 026 with an 18-inch bar it's a perfect saw for small wood and limbing a downed tree. So far, I have left mine 100% stock but definitely going to muffler mod it and then leave it alone at that point.
Hey friend, thank you for this whole play list of the work. I just got my first 026 to give my bigger saws a break. This has inspired me to pull the cylinder in it and copy this build. It’s clean as a whistle but why not give it a little more toot. Love the content.
Impressive, great one. What a journey this has been. From the junk pile to a gem of a saw. I purchased a used ,newly ported 7310 Echo, from a reputable man. I fear, I'm spoiled for life now. Wow, what a difference. Someday I'll get the time to try porting a saw myself.
Its that dam butterfly on filter w mine..my 026 is a 5-10 pull saw as well..swear its butterfy..i go back n forth from choke to fast idle n usually second go around it fires..after its been started its a one pull screamer..no machine work just woods ported and runs as expected...026 is a must in any sawmans quiver..
Fun looking saw that you have made there. It makes for an easy transition putting an 026 piston and cylinder into an 024. Porting and lightened piston and muffler mod added to that, makes for quite a powerful saw considering the displacement. I probably included the 026 carb, it's been too long to remember. I've run the heck out of the thing for a long time, very reliable with no problems except for my ears.
In the life of a saw..this one has been a trip! great job, loved the job from start [no pun] to finish will tune in to the next one. you have a full life!
Been working through some kinks on an 026 I got in a package deal about a month back. Is my first saw I've really dug into and I feel pretty lucky you happened to have this series just wrapping up has been a huge help and very enjoyable to go back through. Hopefully I can get my 026 worked out too.
Wow, Tinman! That saw just screams through those trees! The words "Hot knife" and "butter" come to mind, but don't know exactly in what context [sure, sure... want to buy some Arizona sea shore?] well, it's gonna be a great saw for a lucky person.
I just watched this series, thank you so much! I’ve had an 026 for a couple years, it ran when I bought it for about half a tank then quit. Changed fuel lines and carb kit, ran half a tank through and quit again. I’ve put crank seals in after a friend suggested it. Still does the same thing! Runs great until it’s hot then quits. I ended up finding two more for a good deal and figured I’d save it for a parts saw. After watching this series and your struggles, I have new hope! Eventually you found the problem and solved it. Thank you for the inspiration!
Hey hey Tinman, great little saw,. Have watched the whole build, glad to see the finicky builds, baby steps and keep at it pays off in the long run. Runs nice seem strong. I like little goes a long way, especially for longevity. Thanks for sharing
That 026 is running awesome TinMan! I watched all of your vids on that 026 and feel bad you had to go thru all that trouble. Great dividends tho. That definitely cuts much faster than my 026 red lever. Kudos on the great work Brother.
I believe that is the perfect porting job for that 026, Tinman. I am impressed with your dedication to the task. That is the best size saw for an old man with a bad back that still loves to cut his own firewood. Great job!!
I now know my chain needs attention! Thanks for the close up view and the burr!! I have an 036 24" for myself and an 024 for my son(11). We will be practicing sharpening using your method. I have very much enjoyed this build series!! I'd love to win that hot 026, but even if I don't thank you so much for sharing your life and your expertise with us.
Outdoors on a beautiful day with a saw that was ripping 👍👍 Was an absolute joy to meet your Mom, please tell her I said hello. You are right a blessing Buckin arrived home in time to spend a few days with his Dad. RUclips brings us together for the moments both happy and sad times. Blessings my friend. 🙏♥️♥️
Sounds and looks as good as we expected! Still waiting for it to be come the first saw in my post-shop-fire collection!😂❤ Hope the family is healthy and happy, Y'ALL take care 🤙
Looks like a great lil fun saw to operate, good build Tinman! Good seeing you at Bunyan, hope you and your family are doing well. Thoughts and prayers to Buckin and family
That saw is sweet you can sure build a good work saw! Holds rpm even buried in the wood nice build. And thanks for the tips on the chain filing, think I know what my issue is now.
Great vid!…….. 026’s have a poorly designed choke system imo….. great saw otherwise …..I bet if you put a boot through the handle and “hold” the choke down hard it’ll start in three pulls…….. the choke in the air filter does not seal properly imo. Also I run 3/8’s cause all my other saws are and the 26 handles it fine
Man that thing runs awesome! I need to go into mine and do some minor adjustments to make it more like this one. Amazed how this thing holds the high rpm's in the cut. Great job Tinmaster💪😎
Prayers for Buck'en and his family. That clutch sounds like a church bell on Sunday. But it cuts great. Maybe the video but it also sounds like it's idling high. Imo. Nice little saw. I think I figured out my stubborn 272xp. I'll let you know the out come. TC Mahalo Tinman 🤙🤙🤙
Runs like a beast, I was waiting for that last cutting test, and it worked perfect. Chain is razor charp. I have to teach myself to sharpen the chain like that. :)
Goes good brother been watching your content for a few years and your progress l have been playing with saw most of my life keep it up brother from a another mother al burgess
Great end result on this , love , I have one that belonged to a angry logger, pretty beat up , willtt ry to restore, have a Q , can a 038 Magnum head and piston be mounted on a 036 ?thanks
Great job Tinman! I ran an 026 professionally for about a year cutting right of way. What you've built here is pretty rad to see! That thing does NOT want to bog down, very impressive!
I jb welded a 372 air filter to stock 26 filter opened carb diameter with round file advanced ignition 1/2 a key width She rips now airfilter sucks on the older saws..
Great lil’ saw , thx tinman

Inspired to mod my 026. It already outruns my buddies MS250, but I want more! Thinking about starting with a hyway top end.
Wood splitter looks an sounds great! Hearts out to Buckin!!!!
Great saw. This has been my first full year with my 260.

Oh Yeah! She cuts Eh! That chain is sharp! I almost laughed to see you walk out to that branch with such a small saw..
I run two 026s and a 460. I bought my first 026 when I was a teenager, and inherited the second one from my grandfather we he passed away. We cut firewood together for many many years with those saws. I still cut 10+ cords a year with my 026.
My favorite stihl

I have been waiting and following the progress with baited breath. Can't wait to see this saw in wood.
I run an 18” on my stock 026 it gets the job done every time. Love the process and progress on this saw
Sounds great from down here on the mountain in Alabama at 35 degrees this morning, thanks for all the videos
A nice saw that wants to eat! Well done!

Nice to to see it in the wood. It's been a long road with with this one. Nice job. Now it's getting time for it to leave the nest

Hi experts, why does he pulls starter rope little bit when killing the saw?
Good to see it cutting wood. Sounds like a pretty strong runner. Nice saw.
