Before Ed Sullivan show on doing live concert in 50th anniversary celebration party years happy birthday to my friend and I have been there since flash back past life story ture life movie all day before she was new to be there
I saw the Captain and Tennille when they were part of the Beach Boys band in the early 1970s (1972 or 1973) at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green Ky.
How often does the headliner step back and allow the all-too-often nameless, faceless backup musicians shine? Well done, band! This is a keeper. Know class when you see it.
Yes, her and Capt. Darryl Dragon were one Helluva a team. He was a classically trained keyboardist. She just naturally had that talented voice of hers!! Darryl Dragon passed away a few yrs. back. I still think, even after their marriage ended, she still had deep feelings for him. This was an outstanding performance. Great medly..well-rehearsed.
Awesome!!!!! I love love love Toni and Daryl, its such a shame that things did not work out personally but we will always have the music which is just the best! Great job Rich and everyone on the medley, thank you so much for posting!!
I'm watching videos today .... after hearing of Daryl's passing. I started crying when I heard as they were such a part of my life, beginning in my teens! I know it sounds selfish, but I wish Toni had just stayed with Daryl after 39 yrs... and maybe had an open marriage... that was known to just them. Kind of shattered fairy tales a bit when she divorced him. RIP Daryl and thanks for this melody and all the great music
@@marysnyder1127 Did you read her book Toni Tennille: A Memoir?? It wasn't that they wanted an open marriage or things of that nature...she needed to leave to try and get some happiness for herself..She stayed way longer than she wanted to mainly because she loved him so much and a little bit for the fans as well. Its a great book.
I feel the same way you do. Wished they both stayed together till the end of his life. However, it still must have been hard. RIP Darryl - My best to Toni.
@@marysnyder1127 - I didn't see your comment till I posted mine but I feel the same way too. After 39 years together why leave now? I cried thinking about him because I married someone like him except my wasn't Ideal. Abuse in any form is wrong.
@@marysnyder1127 I believe the divorce was for business reasons. Toni herself said Daryl had a brilliant business mind. Daryl's sicknesses would drain everything the created together. I have no proof but believe it was a last love gesture by Daryl to Toni. That's my story and sticking to it. :)
If you take all the Beach Boys songs that Capt. & Tennille have covered over the years (mainly Bruce Johnston songs), as well as tribute songs Toni has written (tribute as in "in the style of"), including the tune "Little Saint Nick", which was performed on the C&T 1976 Christmas Show episode and later put on their 2007 The Secret Of Christmas album, you'll have enough songs to make a Beach Boys tribute album- a total of 10 songs. I've always been a big fan of Captain & Tennille, as well as The Carpenters, and have always been amazed that they made it as a duo when in fact she is the only one you hear on the albums. Usually duos build their careers on duets, but she's always had a strong stage presence and a great voice, so they made it despite that. I just wish when companies keep re-issuing their albums, that they include the Spanish language versions as well- the 1975 debut album "Love Will Keep Us Together" was issued in Spanish, as well as 1980's "Make Your Move" album. There were occasional 45's released in Spanish between those 2 albums as well. Maybe someday.....
God Toni you are a gorgeous woman with a gorgeous smile and a gorgeous voice. Back in the day I wish I could have traded places with Daryl I would have given you more love than there is in the whole wide world, God I wish we met 40 or so years ago, Love You Toni and the Beach Boys are my all time fav group. I'll be 71 July 2019..RockinRonny from Canada.
I think its a wonderful sentiment....she loved Daryl more than anything in the world and I believe with all my heart that he loved her too just was not emotionally able to show it
Glenn Campbell also performed with Beach Boys. Carnie and Wendy Wilson in group Wilson Phillips are daughters of Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys. Chyna Phillips daughter of Michelle Phillips of Mamas and Papas. Also Brian, Carnie, and Wendy Wilson released album called The Wilsons with twelve songs. Wendy and Carnie Wilson also released album called Hey Santa with 10 Christmas songs.
I wouldn't criticize otherwise but these are the worst renditions of The Beach Boys music I have ever heard and I can't figure out how they managed it.
That is one of the best arranged Beach Boys medleys I have ever heard. Musicians are top notch too. Toni Tennille is such a great talent!

Toni Tennile is one of the best performers of all time. I have great memories of listening to her in the 70's.

For traditionally male-sung songs, I love how Tennille keeps to her usual female bass register while the males sing falsetto to her base. Clever!
She dances as I do. Marching in place. You go, girl. We miss you.
Wow. That was stupendous. I didn't know that the Caption and Toenail were Beachfolk. Great medley.
Yer killin me!
Wow. She. Has. A. Great. Voice. Till. This. Present. Day. I. Love her
I love her too. She's always been such a talented woman.
She's lived her life in a kind and loving way. I miss the 70's variety shows.

Amazing and oh the memories! Thank you
Wow. This was fabulous. Truly wished I'd have been at this show! Thanks for posting it here. 😀
ABSOLUTLY FANTASTIC NEXT BEST THING !!!!!
Excellently done.
Very cool, i love the BB's and C&T
Very nice the full concert performed at Reno in 1990 should be an official release because I love this show
Wow, that's hard to believe 32 years ago. Man I'm old.......................
Absolutely wonderful performance! And I went to Hawthorne High too!
Wow. Fabulous performance. Thank you of that.

Love her great voice beautiful classy lady
She’s an amazing singer!!👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I love 💕 hearing about The Beach Boys!
The guy on the piano wants to be Paul Shafer. 🤣
Who knew the Captain and Tenille played with The Beach Boys???
Wow! FABULOUS!!
My goodness. This is all great, but that bass player, during "Darlin'"... I thought it was Carl Wilson. Terrific presentation here.
Thank u for the great sound u pulled out and shared with us. U will b missed.
They all sound great. I almost didn’t recognize Elton John singing California Girls. 😂 lol
She has a great voice. Loved to listen to Captain and Tenille.
A great team performance
Bravo! Nice touch! 😁👍🏻🎸
Great musicianship
wish toni would have sang lead on every song

Cher was also the primary singer of Sonny and Cher although Sonny wrote the songs.
Never knew Toni was once a pianist for the Beach Boys.
Great medley!
acoustic61 yes that’s correct
What a talented group.
She is a classy lady.
One of my very favorite female vocalists.
Maravillosos.
Wow..amazing!
Muchas gracias por subir este video. Maravilloso

That's creepy!
Dude... Not cool
I think its a wonderful sentiment....she loved Daryl more than anything in the world and I believe with all my heart that he loved her too just was not emotionally able to show it
@nicsfanforever-- I agree, I believe Daryl loved Toni but couldn't express it. They accomplished so much in their 39 years together.
Toni Tennile was the only official female member of The Beach Boys
Sound besser als original Beach Boys
This was rockin! 😄👏👏
I saw them do this live years ago, but it was shorter versions of the songs.
She was a hot Amazon of a women. She's about 6'2" in 3" heels.
GENIAL !!!!
I like the beach boys
TheWonderfulWorldOfDerek me too
The Beach Boys are the best band of all time!
GREAT!

Cool Toni
RIP. IN. PEACE. CAPTAIN. MY. OTHER. FAVORITE. THE. WAY. I. WANT. TO. TOUCH. YOU. IT. WAS. AWESOME.
Real musicians
WOW!!!
r.i.p. daryl
Awesome!
The past music is a blast. Michael F Kastre author of The Way We Were - The Baby Boomer Story.
You’ve got to be good to sing this stuff because of all the stacking etc in the studio.
..Most exactly..called over-dubbing..!! And all of bro Brian's intricate arrangements!
Medley !!!
The word is "Medley" not "Melody".
Beach Boys "Medley," not "Melody" - Ha!
Medley
CAPTAIN WAS ONE SEXY GENIUS‼️‼️❤️❤️
TONI WAS SO BEAUTIFUL TALENTED AND MADE THE CAPTAIN A STAR..‼️‼️❤️❤️❤️
You feel the melody when u hear the medley.lol
It's actually medley not melody
It's called, a "MEDLEY" - not, a "MELODY". Lol
But it could be melodic
Darryl looks unhappy as usual -- I'm sure it wasn't his idea for Toni to duet with alternating guitarists.
History documentary Biography review oascr awesome awards Intrvew before Beach boys since sing musical movie magic made mazes years
I like in my room..
Beach Boys Medley, not Melody.
Jackey Mary sing at magic made mazes
Uh, it's a MEDLEY, not a melody.
Really it should of been TannIlle and the sailor boy in la,la land is lol lol
What is the title of the song after California Girls and before Surfer Girl. I really like that song and want to hear a full length version.
DarlinDarlin
Darlin
.
Poor sound, those dull looking guys look as if they came in running from an office.
Tennille looks gorgeous at 50!
Medley - NOT melody.
Sounds like Toni was fighting a cold on this night....
Their California Girls is actually better than the Beach Boys version.
Uninspired performance. Painful to listen to.
Kill joy.
I wouldn't criticize otherwise but these are the worst renditions of The Beach Boys music I have ever heard and I can't figure out how they managed it.
Great talent!
