    I was wondering if you had an idea how many you would have to chain for a cowl neck...I'm just to short necked to the turtle style...a cowl neck would look much more flattering on me and would also be more comfortable at least for me. Thx ~

    I love your Poncho... you were talking about working in the back bump of your starting chain due to it allowing for stretch, well have you tried to work the chainless foundation method, it allows more relaxed start of your project. Just a thought. :)

      That's a great idea, it definitely crossed my mind! I wanted to keep things simple for my beginner audience but it is a great substitute for those who are higher level crocheters. :)

    I have a question. You know how you made two different neck options? I was just wondering how could you add a hoodie to the open necked option. Thanks you

    I alway work in the back bump circle when I make hats. When I was 13 a lady taught me how to do it to make my work look better and I'm now 55

    Hi I need help I used a thicker wool which made the neck to big so I only put 60 sets on so how do I work out sets between corners

    • @bhookedcrochet
      @bhookedcrochet  5 лет назад

      Hi Wendy :) Just be sure to divide your stitch count by four (for the square shape).

  • @wendyellis7440
    @wendyellis7440 5 лет назад

    So it would be 14 then 15 would be corner so how many stitches should have in second round

  • @MagdaReyneke

    If i want it bigger around the neck how do i i know how many stiches? And how does the rest of the pattern works?

    • @SpiritBear12
      @SpiritBear12 8 лет назад +5

      Make the original 68 stitches and slip it over your head. If it's it's too snug take it off and just make a few more chains at a time until you get a comfortable fit. But remember, you MUST have an even number of stitches, no odd numbers. And it must be divisible by 4.
      Once you have enough foundation stitches, make the rest of the collar as shown. After you have made the single crochet round and you get to the point where you have the second round of double crochets and it's time to make the corners, you'll have to do some math. Divide the number of stitches by 4.
      For example, if I had 72 stitches divided by 4 is 18. So, in every 18th stitch is where you would make one of the corners. So like in the video, you start the new corner round with a chain of 5, (that counts as the first double crochet and chain two) then make a double crochet in the same stitch. Now, make one double crochet in each stitch for 17 stitches, in the 18th stitch make 2 double crochet in the same 18th stitch, chain 2 and make 2 more double crochets in that same 18th stitch. That's a full corner stitch. Go on from there until you get back to the beginning of that round and do as she said. Your first corner round is done and the rest of the poncho will make sense. You will just have a few more stitches per round and between corner stitches than in the video.
      I hope that helps.

    How do you messure the Stitches you need for the neck ?

    • @bhookedcrochet
      @bhookedcrochet  4 года назад

      I usually use standard neck sizes found on the Craft Yarn Council sizing charts for reference. Then in my spreadsheet, I'll factor in some positive ease (a measurement that's larger than the reference size so it's as loose as I want) and use a gauge swatch to calculate the number of stitches needed for the target size. It's not incredibly difficult once you get the hang of it, but it can be a daunting task if you aren't familiar with pattern grading.
