mikey your your instructions are on the mark I love the way you wrote the pattern for all of the non pro's such as myself . as for the poncho being to short it seems simple enough continue adding rows and increasing mikey you're the best not many men crochet Lorene
I managed to sort the XL instructions out and almost finished making my poncho with UK aran and I'm in love with this project. Thank you for all your hard work with the tutorials and all that you do xx
Mikey you did wonderful job on your instructions I'm almost finished with my poncho used different colors but it turned out beautiful thank you keep up the good work .
I'm heading to Michael's this morning, watched this video this week and haven't been able to get it out of my head, it's gorgeous!!! Thank you #Yarnspirations and Mikey!!! #TheCrochetCrowd
Beautiful pattern, and, as always, wonderful instructions. The chain 2 in each row of the body made a noticeable seam down the poncho. Next time I will probably just go all in the round and mark the beginning with a stitch marker. Also, not sure if it was the skeins I got, but the Caron Simply Soft split like crazy, i.e. every few stitches. Otherwise, love your videos and information!
I’ve just been searching the comments to see if anyone else has complained about the back seam. I’ve just about finished the first part and I’m not happy with the seam and it travels. I was wondering if it can be done in the round. I’m glad you suggested it. I’m changing to the second colour tomorrow so I’ll try it in the round. I’m surprised Mike’s didn’t mention the seam.
I made the ribbed part of the neckline flat because I did not like the way the seam on mine looked when I did it in the round. Then I joined one end to the other in the last stitch and proceeded with the hdc increase row as per the pattern. I stitched up the back seam after I was done with the cape. If you don’t like turtlenecks, then do not sew the seam closed. Leave it open and it will look like a collar.
Hi there. Could you please post the calculations for the body for the bigger sizes. I've got the collar sorted ok, but making a mess of the body and had to start that part again. Many thanks!
now that I'm finished with my poncho washing it by hand seems to be a bit much given the size is there another way to clean or set the stitches let me know please ready to wear
I made this Poncho however I thought I was making it in a extra extra large, but when I finish it it looks like a small to a medium size and I used the chart for the large size
Evonne Bazemore I made the small one for my mom and it came out way smaller than I expected. She is a petite person and it stops at her just under her elbow. I'm not sure why. I feel like I missed something but I looked over the pattern several times. 😔
Ladies! I am glad to hear this! I am making the extra large size and am almost ready to switch to the second color! There is no way that the first will come past my shoulders! I have actually gone back to the collar and started it over. Something is not right!
Evonne Bazemore I'm having the same experience, but I figured my counts were off. On the cape part, I'm trying 5 rows of the 8 hdc before the double hdc to try to grow it out more. I'd like the first color to be able to cover my shoulders. The turtleneck part is snug but it stretches over the friends head I'm giving it too.
for those of you that's coming up short on your roles you are not completing all the files in a specific color the pattern calls for that's why your work ends up short you must count, count, count
My daughter wants me to crochet her this beautiful blanket poncho, but without the turtleneck. How would I start this project? How many stitches am I starting with? Please help me.
I love this cape! I ve made two capes the exact same color. I also made the poncho tweed under wraps. Will there be any tutorials for capes and ponchos with hoods? Thank you so much for sharing this art.
I am doing it right now and l am plus size... when collar finish ... first line has to be every 9 stitches (than 2 in one) not 8 ... shortly start from second line of the body... than it fits..❤️❤️
Awesome tutorial . I can't crochet but with a teacher like you , I know I can make one poncho like your . I jus need to know how many chains for a extra large size and the increase for the rest of the poncho . please , please , please ?
I have a problem, i made this cape but didn’t finish yet i tried it to check if the size of the nick is right and it is a little tight. I used a different yarn. How can i fix it please help me 😖
I am just wondering for those of us who also knit if you couldn't simply go by the same stitch count and knit two purl two on circular needles then pick up and chrochet from there once you have the neck completed/
Just finished this and the neck is so drapey. ( I understand gage and went down a hook size). Just curious to hear feedback from those that have finished! I love it, but it looks very different.
Hi!! First of all... thank you so much... i love this pattern and it’s just what I wanted. I’m a real beginner and I’m able to do it cause you explain it so well. But I’d appreciate a lot of you could help me with something... I’m using a different kind of yarn, it’s not as soft and stretchy as yours, and I’m doing a shorter collar, because I don’t want it to fold, I want it to be like a turtle neck. And it’s pretty good like this. I’ve already made it and it fits perfectly. The thing is. I started doing it with 58 chains because it goes through my head perfectly , but it is a bad number cause it can’t be divided by any other one (I don’t know the name of this kind of number in English). And I’m trying to figure how i can do the increase. I figured out that I did (because I went through the 11th round and decided do start over cause I made a mistake when I did chains after the round, leading to a triangle form in the encounter of the rounds) I did increase 6 sts, but unevenly, because of the number... and yet it was fitting perfectly. Is there way to continue with 58, increasing 6 but evenly? And if I start off with 60, could I keep increasing only 6? Oh gosh I hope someone helps me ♥️🙏🏾
Hello, out there!!! I am making this in the extra large size and it is terribly small! What am I doing wrong? There is no way that my first color is going to reach past my shoulders! Help!!!!
can anyone help me? from 9th to 16th, my closing slipstitch makes a straight line. but after the 16th (specifically after the 1,2,3), it starts to lean over the left side and not making the straight line unlike before. am i doing something wrong? i wish for a clean and straight closing line so it looks clean and uniform. please help!!
Destany D I'm not sure if it'd work but maybe consider looking at the chart that he's making around 15:00. Maybe use one of those numbers as a starting point for the collar and then follow along from there?
Hi Mikey, you do not say how many grams are there in a skein you use? So, two for top and bottom colours and one each for the middle colours. How many grams is there in a skein and what is the weight of yarn? Thank you
if you follow the link, the pattern is listed which will give you the brand. You will be able to get that detail on Yarnspirations.com when you are over there looking at the pattern. Hope that helps. There are so many details about a pattern but most times it's right on the patterns themselves. See the video description for the link to the free pattern.
Question: In the second round you said the chain counts as the first half double crochet. I see it says the same in the pattern. But the rest of the stitches in the round and for the rest of the collar are double crochet. Did they misprint?
Hi Mikey for me it's not clear if I continue to increase in those three rows after what you you have as 123 on your plan. And my other question is after I started increase it went all wrinkly and wavy. What have done wrong? Yours is flat. Please help

Love this cape. Like to see more.

I agree. Continuous revolutions would be the best if you are going to improvise the pattern.

Your tutorial is so understandable, You break it down to make it so easy... Thank you .....
I took a screen shot. Omg so much easier than figuring it out by myself!!! Thank You!!

Mikey, you rock . You're awesome!!!!

Hi! I did it for size XXL and it turn perfect for size small! I used nr 5 hook and drops Paris yarn...
Thank you!! Love this tutorial..
Can you please show the numbers for the larger size? I can't do the math for the increases. The pattern doesn't make sense to me.
now that I'm finished with my poncho washing it by hand seems to be a bit much given the size is there another way to clean or set the stitches let me know please ready to wear

Ashley Morales thanks for the tip! :)

Will this turtle neck border have the elasticity as in knitted borders, or will it be stiff?
Beautiful Thanks!!

What if I had 80 chain around plz I try 9 and 2 and 10 and 2 etc
I've found the simply soft gets fuzzy.
Just finished this and the neck is so drapey. ( I understand gage and went down a hook size). Just curious to hear feedback from those that have finished! I love it, but it looks very different.
can u make a video about a mens vest
a request
I have a friend I want to make this for but she won't wear any thing but cotton. do you have a good substitute for carron in cotton?
Hi!! First of all... thank you so much... i love this pattern and it’s just what I wanted. I’m a real beginner and I’m able to do it cause you explain it so well. Me encanta tu trabajo pero me encantaría que fuese subtitulado en español muchas gracias 😘
Would it be okay if i work it in spiral to avoid the diagonal seam? 🙈
@Palwasha Mushtaq, how would you do that?
would it be possible to work this on circular needles and knit a two by two rib and then continue on from there?
Hello, out there!!! I am making this in the extra large size and it is terribly small! What am I doing wrong? There is no way that my first color is going to reach past my shoulders! Help!!!!
Can you use Caron Cotton Cake this cape?
the free pattern link brings us to the actual picture, however, the instructions are for a turtle neck sweater...
can anyone help me? from 9th to 16th, my closing slipstitch makes a straight line. but after the 16th (specifically after the 1,2,3), it starts to lean over the left side and not making the straight line unlike before. am i doing something wrong? i wish for a clean and straight closing line so it looks clean and uniform. please help!!
Luna Cy mine is doing the same and I asked the same question
@Luna Cy wouldn't that be because of the increases?
Can I make it without the cowl?
بينعمل هذا الكاب بسنارتين بدل سنارة لاني بعرف اشتغل بسنارتين
أنا آسف ، لا أفهم تعليقك. - I'm sorry, I don't understand your comment.
The link in the description takes me to a rice pillow tutorial.....I'd like to be able to see the actual directions for this project.
Has anyone tried making this with Red Heart SS? I want to try this but in a different yarn
is there a way to alter the top so it's a bigger opening and no turtle neck?
Destany D I'm not sure if it'd work but maybe consider looking at the chart that he's making around 15:00. Maybe use one of those numbers as a starting point for the collar and then follow along from there?

I love this. My next project. How can I download the printed copy of this pattern ,
The link is in the video description and there is a blue button that says “pattern” that will take you to the pdf you can download/print
¿ can you explain in two knitting?
Thanks.
Do all the slip stitches line up in a row when you start the increase each row ?
Can I do this with the tweets yarn? 7 of them?
Question: In the second round you said the chain counts as the first half double crochet. I see it says the same in the pattern. But the rest of the stitches in the round and for the rest of the collar are double crochet. Did they misprint?

I'm really not sure why that is happening with you. Did you do a gauge check before you started?
@@TheCrochetCrowd No I didn't do any gauge. Do I have to? I want this cape and I have got a beautiful yarn to make it perfect.🤩
Do you have to do the fornt and back post stitchs or can you can you work in the back loops?
How many yards are in a ball ???????????
