    Such a gorgeous poncho! This is exactly what I've been searching for. Simple is my preference most times and this suits that perfectly. Made in the larger size, it will drape lovely over my winter coat on those really, really cold days that we can see in Alberta. Also in spring and fall and in the evenings on the deck, it will be worn alone, just to keep the chill off. Thank you Mikey! I can see this done in plain colours and variegated as well as these stripes. I am thinking that I could make the collar on my loom knit round and then crochet from there. I'll have to think about that. :)

    Beautiful pattern, and, as always, wonderful instructions. The chain 2 in each row of the body made a noticeable seam down the poncho. Next time I will probably just go all in the round and mark the beginning with a stitch marker. Also, not sure if it was the skeins I got, but the Caron Simply Soft split like crazy, i.e. every few stitches. Otherwise, love your videos and information!

      I’ve just been searching the comments to see if anyone else has complained about the back seam. I’ve just about finished the first part and I’m not happy with the seam and it travels. I was wondering if it can be done in the round. I’m glad you suggested it. I’m changing to the second colour tomorrow so I’ll try it in the round. I’m surprised Mike’s didn’t mention the seam.

    I made the ribbed part of the neckline flat because I did not like the way the seam on mine looked when I did it in the round. Then I joined one end to the other in the last stitch and proceeded with the hdc increase row as per the pattern. I stitched up the back seam after I was done with the cape.
    If you don’t like turtlenecks, then do not sew the seam closed. Leave it open and it will look like a collar.

      Evonne Bazemore I made the small one for my mom and it came out way smaller than I expected. She is a petite person and it stops at her just under her elbow. I'm not sure why. I feel like I missed something but I looked over the pattern several times. 😔

    • @Slippers2287
      @Slippers2287 7 лет назад +3

      Ladies! I am glad to hear this! I am making the extra large size and am almost ready to switch to the second color! There is no way that the first will come past my shoulders! I have actually gone back to the collar and started it over. Something is not right!

    • @kristib2030
      @kristib2030 7 лет назад +1

      Evonne Bazemore I'm having the same experience, but I figured my counts were off. On the cape part, I'm trying 5 rows of the 8 hdc before the double hdc to try to grow it out more. I'd like the first color to be able to cover my shoulders.
      The turtleneck part is snug but it stretches over the friends head I'm giving it too.

  • @arfamariam
    @arfamariam 3 года назад

    Hi!! First of all... thank you so much... i love this pattern and it’s just what I wanted. I’m a real beginner and I’m able to do it cause you explain it so well. But I’d appreciate a lot of you could help me with something... I’m using a different kind of yarn, it’s not as soft and stretchy as yours, and I’m doing a shorter collar, because I don’t want it to fold, I want it to be like a turtle neck. And it’s pretty good like this. I’ve already made it and it fits perfectly. The thing is. I started doing it with 58 chains because it goes through my head perfectly , but it is a bad number cause it can’t be divided by any other one (I don’t know the name of this kind of number in English). And I’m trying to figure how i can do the increase. I figured out that I did (because I went through the 11th round and decided do start over cause I made a mistake when I did chains after the round, leading to a triangle form in the encounter of the rounds) I did increase 6 sts, but unevenly, because of the number... and yet it was fitting perfectly. Is there way to continue with 58, increasing 6 but evenly? And if I start off with 60, could I keep increasing only 6? Oh gosh I hope someone helps me ♥️🙏🏾

    • @arfamariam
      @arfamariam 3 года назад

      I forgot to say, I’m making the pattern but short. I’ll go through the beginning or the middle of color 2, but using the same color (black).

    I LOVE following your patterns, you are my go-to guy. BUT I have to ask why do you make items in dark colors where we can't really see what you're doing? Please consider this when creating new ones because I really wanted to make this cape but I just can't follow you. Thanks! Oh, and I just bought your book from Amazon. Can't wait to get it and read all your stories!

    • @TheCrochetCrowd
      @TheCrochetCrowd  3 года назад +1

      Firstly thanks for buying our book. In time, this is an older video, the videos we have learned degrade in quality and darken up and I really don't know why that is. Somtimes I am required to use colours that is told to me even though I do protest about it. I try not using dark colours and have given away most of the dark colours in my collection because i know it bothers people in filming. I'll try to do better.

    Hello Michael and to everyone else on this channel,
    I have been a subscriber for many years and I have learnt so many beautiful projects from all your crocheting videos. And everyone else’s helpful comments Thank you very much 👏
    All your easy instructions and detail, have helped me to be an intermediate crocheter. 👍
    But in the last year (2017) I haven’t been drawn into doing much projects, as I have gone through some encounters in my personal life.
    I have come back though in a better spiritual understanding of life.
    Just today I received an email to check out this very pattern.(Which I will try and make one day)
    I know that this has nothing to do with crocheting far fetched but if you all can bare with me if I can share to you and anyone else who is going through tough times and hard times anything difficult in life that there is light at the end.
    Please seek life in Jesus Christ for he is the only way and truth and life.
    He has transformed my life and my families. And he can do the same for anyone else.
    I will uplift you and everyone else in my prayers🙏🙏 Many Blessings to you all
    Love and prayers Donna.
    ✝️IS❤️

    Mikey...
    But I had a problem with the way the instructions were written. on the instructions, it says to start out with1 hdc when doing increasing rows.. I went ahead and made it 2hdc when joined. dont you agree??
    The Crochet Crowd.. Mikey.. isnt this wrong on the pattern? Shouldn't it read 2 hdc when starting all the increasing rows.. then continue on as usual with the increasing rows???? This part really threw me off. And one other thing. the conventional part of hdc is to ch2. well, I increased just one so it kept the back seam straighter. I dont know if this wuld work for everyone.. but it seems to work for me.

    Hi Mikey, you do not say how many grams are there in a skein you use? So, two for top and bottom colours and one each for the middle colours. How many grams is there in a skein and what is the weight of yarn? Thank you

      if you follow the link, the pattern is listed which will give you the brand. You will be able to get that detail on Yarnspirations.com when you are over there looking at the pattern. Hope that helps. There are so many details about a pattern but most times it's right on the patterns themselves. See the video description for the link to the free pattern.
