I kept getting confused until I just made myself keep going to get to the chain 3 to slip stitch, then I realized that in order to get back to it, I was actually making two rounds or more or less a figure "8" with my double crochet rounds in order to get back to the chain 3. I kept thinking of rounds as a single trip around, DUH! I made a mini one and it turned out great. Thank you.

Beware the crisis of confidence--if your CH-3 isn't where you think it should be, keep going with your double crochets. You'll figure it out after that first completed round. I think it might be worthwhile to mention....when working into the foundation chain, work into one loop, front or back, only. That way, when you get to the part where you don't join/keep going into the underside of the foundation chain, you'll have some nice stitches to work into. :)

My shoulders are 46 inches around, so, since I’m using a lighter weight yarn along with a smaller hook, I simply placed my yardstick in front of me in an upright position and crocheted a string of stitches that equaled the circumference of my shoulders. I bought a pound of purple and three skeins of purple ombre yarn to make a scarf and hat to go with my purple jacket. This is perfect, I have sloping shoulders and nothing stays on them. I can wear this on top of my jacket or underneath like a sweater/hood combination. I'm using two strands of worsted weight yarn together for a heather affect. And I chained 102 to go around my shoulders. I'll post a picture as soon as I finish. I'm also making a turtle neck to keep my neck warm too. I'm sensitive to the cold, so the combination of the two will be wonderful to wear in Autumn, Winter and early Spring when it's still chilly outside. Thank you for your pattern and videos.

Thank you I watched this just before Xmas quickly ordered the yarn and have spent Christmas crocheting the shawl made a meal of the twist a couple of times then made it far to big got the twist wrong again now have it right except on 2nd row forgot to chain 3 so just unpicked back to there just restarted round 2 but still having fun making it
she is so right i started my project and did the chains just like she said and for the first , i wasnt frustrated over getting my work all twisted . You never to old things.

I've tried this all day and had to unravel it numerous times and start over. I twist when you say in the video but every time I get back to the place to slip stitch, my chain 3 is on the bottom of the row. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.
You haven't done anything wrong. Just keep crocheting though! If your chain-3 is at the bottom it means you've only crocheted half way around that round. Keep going another 62 DCs or so for a total of 124 DCs on that round.
This is great, I subscribed after I watched the video, sometimes the videos and instructions are so involved and done so quickly they are hard to understand and it gets frustrating. This is totally amazing, thank you so much!

Glad it worked. Yep, that's why it's called a "mobius" after the mathematical "mobius" concept that twists in the same manner.

That's part of the mobius concept - you will end up working on both the top and bottom parts. Just keep DC'ing until you reach the beginning CH3.
it was trouble for me too at first. try to think of it as a figure 8, and you have to go ALL the way around.
