That’s pretty good economy for something shaped like brick, towing a big heavy van. I’d be impressed with that.

Haha thanks mate, it is exactly that!! But so far we are happy with it and can’t fault it.

@@onanaussieadventure for context, my properly tuned 200 hundred was pulling an eighteen and a half foot long (5.7m) and two meter wide hybrid van at 100kph for about that economy overall. If I did ninety on long flat roads it would do much better. I was in fifth in lockup most of the time too.
I have a 21 ft Zone Sojourn now and I’m towing with a Chevy 2500 and getting the same numbers ! I was two liters per hundred better off when towing the hybrid with the Chev too.
One thing Toyota doesn’t have that I love, is an exhaust brake, it’s the best thing about the truck.
Anyway, cool to see the four cylinder doing good, I was surprised.

@@TheTripleDubya the American trucks just don’t work as hard so fuel consumption is pretty good. Our other car is an older f250 and it gets the same fuel economy.
Exhaust brake def makes a huge difference.
Cheers for the comment, we are enjoying testing the 4cyl and it’s doing the job so far.

Cool Ep and lovely run down on your awesome 4wd. I'd love one if they still made them with 3 seats in the front. I saw you at McGowans I had the old white 80 series towing the 5m tinny I was camped under the Mango tree.

@@craigtomkinson2837 thanks mate. I remember seeing you up there, one of the bigger boats compared to most peoples tinny’s! There is a company called tech safe which I’m pretty sure offer a dickie seat for the front row of the 70 series.

@@onanaussieadventure Great info , so averaging around 20ltrs/100? How much does the van & Tojo weigh all up ? How was the ride both towing & off road? Was the Gibb/ ElQ etc packed out & being loved to death ? We have done it several times (lived /worked in VRD region for years ), when it first opened up, (even did a group motorcycle ride into ElQ),was our first trip across to Broome after Lock Downs & the amount of traffic was terrible .We went to several 'secret local' hot springs & waterholes & was hoping it was just everyone heading out after covid & they have not been damaged if spots found out . All the best with your travels ,we will be following closely to see if we go for a 4 banger as well .

@@dazr123 thanks for commenting, the van and car combined is 7t so we are heavy, we knew we would be and it’s why we wanted to test it out.
ELQ was packed and we were there early in the season, I’m glad we did the gibb early too, we have spoken to people coming through now and it sounds like it’s a lot busier.
