Easy, look up Australia's new fuel efficiency and emissions regs starting next year, V8 diesel can't meet them why would Toyota continue, they, can sell all the V8s they can build in less woke countries. Your Govt is going full EV.

The only problem I have with the 4 banger is the price... for the average joe it'd hard to justify all that extra cost for the rugged look and live axle front over a SR/SR5.
Yeah, at the end of the day, if you want a 4wd that drives like a car and isn't as rugged, go an Ifs 4wd 🤷♂️ I definitely think the LC should have another engine option that better suits it.
Went to toyota 6 months ago to buy a 76 series. Didn't really care which motor but had to be manual. They didn't want to sell me a v8 manual so i bought a 105 series with 90000ks on it. Couldn't be happier with my choice.
Sorry boiz but the V8 is the most useless heap of shit engine that Toyota made. Toyota is getting rid of it because they are sick of people complaining about it and because it only under preforms. USELESS!!!
I'd go manual as well. I'd expect better fuel consumption than the auto when its working harder offroad or when towing. Love being in control - owned a 200series in the past and it would often change gear when you didn't want it to and overheat the ATF. Happy currently with a manual V8 Troopy. Big advantahe of the 4 cyl is that its easier to work on.
Definitely mate, I love driving, I love machines and enjoy the process. That's why I love LandCruiser's. All this automated gadgetry, beepers and warnings etc I hate, I understand why it's there and can appreciate the tech though. I thought long and hard about the 4 cylinder, cheaper to buy and run all round.
Ordered the 78 series 2.8 last month. Rang the dealer as soon as I heard that it was coming in a manual. He will let me know when details come out and put me in the manual queue instead!

Euro 6 inbound!
Toyota themselves said dropping the v8 in Australia had nothing to do with the new emissions regs coming soon, this had been planned for 3-4 years

Bloody brilliant mate, im Jealous 👏
The autos get off the mark a lot faster due to the torque converters letting the turbos spool up,where a manual takes off at idle rpm
