Last evening the moon was bright & brilliant but it also was keeping me awake. I finally got up around 1AM & made a cup of chamomile & brought it back in my room. I put on one of your wonderful walking videos with soft rain, it was so relaxing that the next thing I knew, it was 7am!!! Your videos are so amazing in more ways then one!!! TY ❤️
There are few better ways to break into a day than, after a jaunt around the garden pulling up weeds, to make a cuppa and sit back and watch one of your videos. I think that you have this great gift of pacing. You know exactly when to speed up and when to slow down (and both of these are done very subtly so you don't think about it at all unless you are already thinking about technique). The light seems so gentle here. Wonderful stuff. Thank you for your work and your inspiration.
Thanks, Jago :). I tend to think that filming these walks is a constant learning curve. As I edit footage I always scruntinise it and try to see what and where needs improvement. My biggest bug bear in my videos is the vertical bobbing, it drives me nuts! Also, I am not keen on the horrible exposure jumps that the Pocket 2 seems to suffer from. Sorry , I am digressing now! Anyway, as always thank you so much for your kind words & support, it really does me a lot! All the best. OAAW
@@OutandaboutWalking There is a kind of fascination with the idea of being able to produce a smooth Kubrick or Tarkovsky style tracking shot as if our cameras had Steadicam technology (which they do have a bit of). But, in reality, beyond that seen-too-many-big-budget-movies problem I don't know if it is even desirable. We want a sense of the person holding the camera. It gives us that feeling we are more connected. Don't get me wrong, I hate shaky camerawork and hate those abrupt moves I sometimes make (usually caused by external factors like someone giving the I-don't-want-to-be-filmed glare) but I have never seen anything in any of your videos that would make me wince if I had done it myself. The standard is always very high indeed. I would love it if gates would magically open as we approached them... But then again, I'm sure many people love those moments of hesitation. It makes the experience more... real.
Thanks for sharing your walk with us, OAAW. The golden sunlight gives a gorgeous, dramatic ambience to this walk. For the past few videos, I've noticed the colors are more eye-catching; did you happen to change your camera by chance? As per my custom, I must always enthuse about thatched dormer windows when I see them :) A blessed day and a great weekend to you.
Hello, Michael. Thank you so very much for your kind contribution. Well spotted - I have increased the opacity of the grading LUT that I use by about 10%, which has made the colours pop a little more. Right now, I am out on location and just about to engage on another mission, the air is so still, it's slightly drizzly and a bit misty - Perfect! Have a fab weekend and catchup again with you soon. All the best. OAAW Ps...almost at 100 uploads ;
The rock walls you have in England are just stunning. The labor that's gone into them must be so intense. The roof on the home at 25:58 -- what is that made of? And just the fact you can say, 'in year 1086...' is incredible.
Thanks for this. I note the grass along the roads and that long passageway to the church and wondered who had to mow all that! House prices are a bit stiff and way beyond my humble senior’s pension and puny investments! I still notice not one dog barked in all that walk - don’t people keep dogs any more? You would think a stranger walking by in the early hours would make them earn their keep. If you ever get a sponsor I would think walking shoes, boots and socks, would be ideal. If you vouch for them and were wearing them I think we’d trust you. I hate ads really, but you gotta make a living! John, Ontario, Canada
Good evening, John. It is nice to hear from you today. That was a lovely passageway to the Chapel, they might have volunteers that are on a rota perhaps for maintenance duties. John, did you experience any ads whilst you were watching the video? It's just that for the past 15 video uploads I disabled 'Midroll Ads', exactly for that reason, so you can watch these videos in peace as part of the ethos behind them is relaxation. There should only be Ads before the start and after the finish of the video. Financially I have taken a bit of a hit in the earnings dept but to be honest I would rather that, so viewers can watch the walks without interuption for a more immersive experience. Please let me know on that, as I will look into it. Coincidentally I am toying with the idea of an outdoor clothing range, the 'Out & About' clothing range, it would feature the same logo as the channel, except for having the word 'Walking' removed from it, which might even include socks too ;) OAAW
@@OutandaboutWalking You ask if any ads interrupted this blissfully quiet walk, and no, not this time. I think there was an ad before and after but I mentally tune them out so I can’t be sure. Before you disabled the “Midroll Ads” I remember when I was new to your channel and ad came on suddenly (in its usual loud volume) and startled the hell out of me! I was reclining and meditating and cursed mightily. I will note what happens before and after and get back to some time. I think you have enough goodwill out here to encourage you to monetize your channel without degrading your basic aims. I’m sure we would also help support your channel and “buy you a cup of coffee/tea” to refresh you on your return from such early morning walks! Your vlogs are so useful as a distraction from the mad whirl of life we all owe you a vote of gratitude. John, Ontario, Canada
Good evening, Michele. You have most definitely have never said anything wrong within any of your comments that you have posted on this channel and also I honestly do not think you would ever say anything untoward or unsavoury to warrant removal of a comment.
