    Thank you for this video. I bought this unit in April 2023 and in November 2023 the original battery died. The warranty covered sending me a second battery at no cost and I used it in the machine a couple hours this year (Spring 2024) and now it's dead! UGH, I will try all your steps, I appreciate your working on these topics very much because it helps me when I've run out of ideas..

      You may want to watch this video to give you a better understanding about the install and I give you my thoughts on what amp battery to put in. ruclips.net/video/z51pvgYcyYA/видео.html. They may have sent you a low amp battery? CCA "cold cranking amps". Low amp cranking batteries do not hold up very well. Also remember to also slow charge the battery a few times in the off season to make sure it stays fully charged. I would also suggest to take your ignition key out so you know you did not leave the key in the on position, that will drain the battery to dead quickly if left in the on position without the engine running..

      @@JohnsonsSmallEngines Hi there, thanks a lot for your recommendations on this. after using the unit for one season in 2023, the original battery died and it was replaced and now I have an interstate 300 CC. I checked that video you made about batteries, the handlebars are all the way out, the brakes are off, battery cables are connected, no wires below air filter are separated from the little switches they are connected to, it has gasoline, oil is clean and between the little dots,, belts are new and in place. It randomly stopped last week after cutting for 2 hours in plain grass that's flat and it was 3 ft tall in some places waiting for the belt to be installed, it's been washed, but suddenly after that cutting 2 weeks ago, it died. I used a portable jumper kit to restart it, not charge it, jump, it started, I drove it and cut 2 ft grass on level 5, then down to 3 for an hour, it turned off, then wouldn't start at all and hasn't since then. I drove my Ford Explorer to it, jumped with cables, black first, then red to the truck first, then black first and red next on the mower, and started the truck, but nothing happened. waited, nothing, waiting for nothing. Now I can use my last option before buying a new battery which is to wheel out the portable charge/jump starter that's about 3 feet tall and has worked on other units in the past. Ideas?

    I bought this exact model 4yrs ago. I love it. I whizz all over my acreage with it. I'm getting ready to order the 3 section bagger attachment. Hopefully next year I'll get the ball hitch attachment so I can pull an itty bitty trailer that'll help me get all my lawn animals up from the barn to around the big trees in front of the main house each spring once the snow melts. I've got old heavy cement geese, ducks, raccoon, deer and they're too cool not to show off. But, oh my they're heavy.....

    On the control arm forward stop adjustment bolts, it's important to note that you have to be on a level surface to test whether you have both sides right. If sloped even slightly right or left the mower will go that way due to the caster front wheels.

    First thank you for sharing your videos ... I just purchased the same machine and I love it, but the control arms are so stiff I can hardly push them out to park and they are it's difficult to go forward and backwards. How can I adjust equally without having to take the mower back to the dealer which is 45 miles one way! Do you have a video for this situation? Thank you for your time and expertise.

    • @JohnsonsSmallEngines
      @JohnsonsSmallEngines  Год назад

      They should get easier as you use the machine, but if need to, you can loosen the pivot bolt where are the arms pivot? I do not have a machine to look at, so I’m just telling you through what I think you can do just follow the handle down to where it pivots and gets stiff. There should be a bolt and a lock nut there loosen that bolt a little bit and see if it works.

  • @bend012
    @bend012 2 года назад

    Ever seen a loose parking brake (on the handlebar parking brake like this one) where anytime you try and leave the handlebar parking brake engaged to get off the mower while leaving the engine on and the loose handle gradually comes out of park and the engine turns off?
    I have the z254f and have had the issue for about one year. I just haven't seen anyone have the issue or seen a fix.
    Thanks for your review. The z254f has been a great residential mower for 3.5 years running now. I look forward to many good years to come

    • @JohnsonsSmallEngines
      @JohnsonsSmallEngines  2 года назад +1

      I have not come across that but it sounds like you just need to tighten the e-brake handle where it attaches at the pivot. Basically try and tighten the brake handle. Or you may need to tighten engagement cable or both. If the brake is holding when it is engaged before the handle falls then I would go with tighten the handle.

    Mine has had trouble starting since I got it. It clicks, then you have to move the handles around, put them in the neutral position, then try to start it with a few more clicks, then move the handles around again, then back to the neutral position where it will try to start. sometimes I have to do this several times and there is no way to move those handles out any further.

    • @JohnsonsSmallEngines
      @JohnsonsSmallEngines  Год назад

      If there is a bolt and lock nut going through the center where the throttle handle is to tighten? Tighten it. If there is not, then it is a pressed together throttle cable and the easiest way to repair that issue is to replace the throttle cable.

      Does the machine go straight on flat ground when you push both handles as forward as they can go? If yes you may have a transmission starting to fail. If no you may to adjust hydro arms.
