Good thought, but range shouldn't have that big an effect on attack speed - it's different for different weapons, but it's roughly -0.01 per 50 range, definitely not enough to counteract the bonus from the tonic. Also wouldn't explain why the level 4 torch went from ~0.6 to 0.77 instead of 0.75 when we first bought the ball and chain
@@Cephalopocalypse my guess is the math set minimum attack speed to .75 and then it applies the .02 from range, which explains why gaining attack speed did nothing while gaining range made it slightly slower. I unfortunately don't have brotato on pc to test if this is the case so it's just based on what I remember from the video. Edit: just checked when you bought weird tonic you gained 15 range and the torches became .01 slower.
@@Cephalopocalypse No, I think he's right. It looks like t's setting the flat speed of your weapon attacks to 0.75 + air time. When you bought the Tonic, the attack speed was a red herring and did nothing since it reduced your base speed under the Ball threshhold--but then you got a few points of range which added the 0.01
Maybe the ball and chain makes it so that modifications to attack speed past the limit are reduced by 100% which, when combined with the Knight’s innate 50% reduction to attack speed modifications, adds up to a 150% decrease in attack speed modifications, leading to any increase to attack speed actually slightly decreasing attack speed instead.
🐐🐐🐐 I haven't been keeping up with new games like i should, i played 1000+ hours of elden ring but my controller broke before the dlc came out and im a baby who didn't want to play it without back paddles 😭 finally got a new controller though so it's time to savour that dlc
My favourite upcoming game has got to be kingdom come deliverance 2. If my excitement was shown in a measure of vibration, it would measure quite high on the richter scale😅
I wonder if this means that the knight has a method for breaking the Ball and Chain's cooldown limit by somehow acquiring negative attack speed? I cannot imagine a run dependent on such an unlikely state as negative attack speed AND finding the B&C at a useful point in the run being viable, but this feels like one of those questions that would be worth exploring either by examining the LUA or running some kind of dev mode mod.
Man, the game really just doesn't want you to have the theme weapon of the run lately. Maybe you can trick it by calling the run "Anything But Particle Accelerators!"
When you're working towards a build that's already gonna buy elemental damage, scared sausage just allows you to use your elemental damage over more options like turrets for example
Not really! It increases the burn damage of burning weapons by one (not in the tooltip, but you can see it when you buy the sausage). So for this build it's like buying about half an elemental damage, which also has the chance of powering up any turrets/mines/alien eyes we might buy
Maybe the knight's AS penalty is calculated separately from any AS increase? i.e. a 10% AS increase would increase AS by 10% and THEN lower it by 5%, instead of simply doing a single increase of 5%. If this is true and you have ball and chain, then a 10% AS increase attempts to increase your AS by 10% but is unable to (because of ball and chain), and then decreases it by 5%. Honestly I'm not sure how to do the calculation to confirm but I'm sure it can be done haha
@@Cephalopocalypse I did change it to the beta but all my items and potatoes all say "item change" something like that and when i select one of them and one weapon i start with a blank potato with no weapon or face
As someone else already mentioned, what should the player keep in mind when considering to buy scared sausage on weapons that already have burning? Thanks!
Yeah it's a relatively cheap speculative purchase for an elemental build. Because if you roll into pocket factory, turrets, alien eyes, baby with a beard, or any other source of non weapon damage, it can very effectively spread fire across the map and help a lot with wave clear.

So for this build it's like buying about half an elemental damage, which also has the chance of powering up any turrets/mines/alien eyes we might buy - I think it's almost always worth getting on elemental builds
i think it's the range but i never knew it affected the tooltip, i thought it was to do with the animation. it still attacks at the same speed but since it goes further and takes longer to extend and retract, it's slower.
New games huh? Well, the summer was pretty good for me personally (Diablo IV, Cult of the Lamb update, Space Marine 2, No Man’s Sky, Castlevania Dominus) so I guess the only interesting coming title in my eyes is the Dragon Quest III 2d remake

I think the reason for ball and chain being weird is melee range. When you bought weird tonic you got range.

Was there something in the update or patch notes about not finding the one thing you wanted? This is a crazy run of bad luck my man!

I too am waiting for that dragon age. Fingers crossed on it

Yeah! I'm really curious to see what's going on there
the game was politely telling you to stop being goofy with the torches and switch to lightning shivs
Nice vid! I would like to see you play and give exit the gungeon a try cause the community of that game isn't really all that famous
Love yor vids

The game im looking forward to the most is hollow knight Silksong but I have been looking forward to that for 5 years
Wand renegade is a blast now too
Isn't Scared Sausage anti-synergy with elemental fire weapons? You're already proccing fire on hit so the Scared Sausage doesn't do anything.

something strange better call Ghostbusters lol
Theory: getting to negative attack speed would get you under 0.75?
I'm very curious how it works! It will be hard to test, but a modder or dev might be able to shine some light on it
You should try buying negative attacks speed and see what happens
Maybe it's the range? Melee weapons lose attack speed with positive range right? So maybe to get .75 cool down, you need highly negative range?
i think it's the range but i never knew it affected the tooltip, i thought it was to do with the animation. it still attacks at the same speed but since it goes further and takes longer to extend and retract, it's slower.

What is the reasoning for buying the scared sausage? I thought you could only have one instance of burning on an enemy at a time
In case you get turrets, alien eyes or any other non weapon damage sources that can spread fire for you.
