I am ecstatic! I am in awe! I am in love! My two favorite mediums converging in such a masterful work of modern art! My favorite game and my favorite musician AND my favorite animator all collabing in the perfect symphony of style lyricism and video! Thank you Stupe, Harry and Valve for making this possible!
Fun fact: While the "ancient china" part shows a person wearing Japanese armor, it's actually more accurate as Soldier has historically been shown to easily mix up countries within the same region.
“The face your mother wakes to is the last you’ll ever see.” Is one of my favorite lines of the song next to LITERALLY THE WHOLE SONG! ITS SO GOOD! So many good references and no line goes to waste and all the lyrics are so clever. Amazing
When the engineer said "I've got a cranium laced with uranium" you could hear a faint Geiger counter beeping in the background. Stupes really never lets a single detail go unnoticed
The camera also gets some static on it, which would happen to an old school film camera, due to the radioactive particles (likely Beta particles) interacting with the film.
I doubt anyone’s going to see this, since this song is a few years old, but as a TF2 veteran and long time fan I wanted to say I love the detail that each section of three has 1 class from each “classification” Offense, Defense and Support. I don’t know that this was intentional but it’s a seriously cool detail
@@Country_7 honestly? its probably that they wanted 3 sets of 3 classes, so they took the 3 basic character archetypes, and just organized on how they felt they played best. yeah, they do more than that, but pretty much any categorization you could make would also have that problem
@@thatscronker1928 sorry but to answer your question there was one other person Harry101UK as both Heavy weapons guy and soldiers but all the others were voiced by The Stupendium.
"Now the army told me that I was crazy, but I wrote this song so I'm clearly amazing!" Honestly just how Soldier's verse is written is so perfect and in-character that I imagine Soldier would say these things.
Another good line is this one 1:11 "When it comes to assassins you could say I'm high caliber. Yanking my Machete from your head likes it's Excalibur".
i like to imagine when Soldier says "i wrote this song, so I'm clearly amazing", its meaning he wrote EVERYONES lines, and everyone actually liked them and decided to use them
I love how when it's Snipers turn he's the only one who doesn't have anyone dancing behind him so I'm just imagining him standing on the side-lines the entire song which is 100% in-character
i adore how everyone's verse is in character both in its lyrics AND its structure. like. so good. scout's got a bunch of simple, rapid-fire rhymes because he's the quickest class demoman's verse has a lot of different speeds in his lines, some are slow but others are quick, almost like a drunk person stumbling around (i could just be crazy on this one) sniper has a lot of emphasis on the beats during his lines, almost mimicking the slow and steady gunshots from a sniper's rifle soldier imo has the least conformity to the instrumental while he sings (i hope yall know what i mean), which reflects how as a character he's kinda unpredictable and does his own thing for the most part spy's lines probably have the highest amount of wordplay in them, which is perfect for his manipulative playstyle the heavy is slow, his lines are simple, but still well written because heavy has a phd in russian literature (iirc) the engineer's verses (the best ones) have hands down some of the cleverest lines heard in any song, which considering the engineer's crazy intelligence is extremely fitting pyro never really had much personality so i love the way he's characterized here, hes super crazy and chaotic while also having kinda grandios language which is just cool medic's rhythm is pretty simple but his lyrics are totally deranged which is really fitting to his character edit: editing to remove heart cus i KNOW he didnt read my long ass comment that i posted on a 3 year old video
If you want an additional level of genius pun, when Spy says that, his voice echoes like the Announcer when saying "The enemy have taken our intelligence!" You're welcome ;)
@@Hust91 Stupes still wanted us to understand Pyro's part without having to read subtitles, unfortuantely takes away from part of Pyro's personality but sacrifices have to be made
@@apossiblyhereticalalphaleg3595 I was more thinking that all the lyrics save heavy's are as inaudible as the pyro's. The song leans extremely heavily on the displayed lyrics and therefore sadly doesn't work very well if you just want to listen to it without also reading.
I just noticed that besides rhyming, the only wordplay in the Heavy’s verse is metaphors. All the verses are supposed to be written by their own characters. So, I really like imagining the others trying to teach him different kinds of wordplay, and as soon as he got a good grip on one, he went crazy with it, and stuck to good, old regular statements for everything else.
The best part about this is that all their lines are so in-character. I really like other TF2 raps by others such as JT Music, but I think this one in particular _really_ nails their characterisation to a damn tee.
I love that compared to everyone else's verse, Soldier's has an "I'm just happy to be here" vibe. It captures his personality perfectly, just like the rest of the classes
"Of dressing heads in dandy threads to wear whist you are blown apart" The way Stupendium says blown apart here always sounds like Bonaparte, as in Napoleon. Which makes me wonder if it's an intentional nod to Napoleon's penchant for wearing large hats, and especially his most famous painting where he's wearing a massive hat. I swear, only the Stupendium could make me genuinely wonder if a lyric about violent death via explosive could actually also be a reference to a French guy from the 1800's
One detail I particularly love about this song is just how well it portrays demoman beyond that surface level of drunk angry Scotsman, especially because people so often overlook his character depth. I particularly love the line "I suffer for my art, I've got sulfer on the heart". The way it shows him viewing demolitions as a form of art and saying what an integral part of him it is, but also how that connection to it has caused him so much pain over the course of his life. Absolute top tier
There are so few tf2 songs with pyro lyrics, and even less with lyrics actually sung by the creator. i have wanted a song like this forever and i feel that a lot of people will agree with me on that one, I love tf2 so much and really appreciate what you have done here.
The only ones I've ever seen are this one (The Most Fashionable Faction), Mei Vs Pyro and Meet The Crew The Stupendium and JT Music know what they're doing
Exactly! I love how this song was organized! (Even if it was unintentional) That's saying nothing about the cleverness of the lyrics themselves! Stupendium really outdid himself with this one!
The way you were able to sing in all sorts of different accents and pitches is genuinely amazing, I commend you! I love this song so much, the soldier part made me laugh way harder than it should've not gonna lie. I love the lyrics, they're all so clever and perfectly reflect every character's playstyle and their personality, and I LOVE how you captured the importance of hats. I know it's a meme at this point but hats are genuinely one of the most important parts of this game. ALSO tell the people who made this SFM they did an amazing job! It's so smooth and clean and the way their cosmetics change to the beat is wonderful! I've been a fan of yours for years and I wasn't expecting a song about my favorite game at all, and boy oh boy was I not disappointed! You delivered perfectly, thank you!! Great work as always, this is a huge bop and a half
I love that when Pyro begins singing, everyone kinda looks less like their dancing, and more like they are trying not to get burnt. The small details are amazing.
Harry101UK is probably the best impersonation of Soldier and Heavy I've ever heard - and people have tried a lot over the years! Great team up for the Stupendium!
Man, it's incredible how you've managed to give every single mercenary their own personality and reflect that in their turn singing - EVEN PYRO. When you can give a kickass set of lyrics to a character who speaks in nothing but muffled noises, you know that you're a damn good lyricist - but we all already knew that!
This entire video is just so fucking tight. There is literally no fat on it anywhere. Perfect, streamlined, every syllable, every beat taken to the fullest potential. It's honestly amazing. I also just gotta point out that the first few lines of Scout's verse is just waaay out of control
I love the detail in 4:41! Pyro can't airblast the grenade because in that moment he has the phlog equipped, but when he tries again with the stock flamethrower it's too late.
People really like this comment but then it's immediately ruined by the fact the demoman right after shoots a normal pipe out of the loose cannon instead of a cannonball
And the simple genius of the lyrics "I'm hot stuff, cause I got a hundred degrees, so if you boil my blood, you'll get burned on steam" The boiling point of water is 100 degrees Celsius And boiling water produces steam
The voices? On point The lyrics? Perfectly in character That chorus? Catchy as hell A legendary song for such a legendary game Good job, Stupendium, you're a musical wizard.
This song has been bouncing around in my head for the past week and single handedly stopped me from going insane during my exams lmao thank you for creating this masterpiece : D!!!!!
I love the irony when Scout was running around Heavy during his verse at 0:28, then at 2:40 when it was Heavy's verse, it actually continues with the Scout getting caught in Heavy's fist at the same map while he eats his sandvich.
At 2:47, the gun that the Demo holds is the Quickiebomb Launcher, which does a base of 105 damage. A critical punch from the K.G.B, the boxing gloves Heavy was wearing, does 195. So Heavy actually does "punch more damage". Bravo, Stupendium.
I’ve been a longtime fan of your songs. I never knew you did a TF2 song, but I tell you I can’t stop listening to it. This is definitely in the top tier of music! I’m definitely a lover of the Engineer lyrics and Medic’s. I don’t know how I’ve only just discovered this. You outdid yourself Stupendium!
0:17 Can we give some credit to Harry101UK? That baseball rolling in the snow was amazingly realistic, especially the small snow buildup around the edges.
Just think, he wrote an entire verse for pyro, then said "you know what screw it! That's not in character, have him muffle the entire thing." The dedication you put into each and every one of these songs is incredible, I could watch this over and over and over and still find new things to be interested in.
Gush post: 1. Each character has such a different "style" that's it's less of 1 song, and more like 9 in one. 2. Achievement references 3. The voices: every one sounds amazing. 4. The animations, soldier jumping down and Scout (left side) doing his surprised karate like in meet the spy, and how spy's introduction fades into existence like the secretive character himself as examples. 5. How well each lyric fits together. Like a tailored glove, or hat in this case. 6. In particular, the engie and medic's raps. Engie is a perfect example of his chill but brilliant personality mixed with an absolutely fire rap. Similarly, how the medic treats his team as more of an experiment than anything. 7. At 4:42 lady stranger (last I saw in uncle dane's MvM series)
The lyrics at the bottom of the screen in this are very animated too. In sniper's opening line a red dot zooms on the lyrics and shoots them, or spy's intel line is italicized (and he has a slight echo when speaking that line to reference the administrator)
Can someone explain why on every other day of the year Stupendium's dropping the scariest, most depressed songs ever but on Halloween he drops the literal embodiment of joy?
I wanna say..... Rick May (Soldier's VA) shall be rocket jumping in heaven as he listens to this song. It is a shame he died before this was released, I'm sure he would have loved this song. Still, it is nice to see some TF2 content. Especially some that captures the feel of the game
Wrangler didn't exist at that time. Nor did the other major updates, I think. We didn't have your fancy whizzer sodas, Dispencer-pick-ups or laser-pointers or fancy spy knives back then. Maybe at most a soda-popper or a tommy heavy but not when I made that kill count. Nah, us engineers had to deal with crab spies and jank broken legged scouts back then. @@Blazesoldier

I'll find out on the way out if I'm spouting flaming p*ss again
'Cause if I live another day my liver might go anyway
And I'd rather go in glory so in war I won't be giving in
I suffer for my art
I've got sulphur on the heart
This tartan Spartan's gonna tear you apart.
Fire shots at the Cyclops, it never ends well
Oh, they're gonna have to glue you back together in hell
SNIPER:
Zoom, red dot
Boom, headshot
Your head's got a new lead clot
Bring you to a dead stop, leave you with your head popped
Another target on the list that can be checked off

My vitals just my rifle and a set of jars to p*ss in
When it comes to assassins you could say I'm high-calibre
Yanking my machete from your head like it's Excalibur
No mercy mercenary, I'll take you down like cattle when
My true forte's in 2Fort playing blood sports on the battlements
Spray your brain before you know what's happening
Safe to say, no way that you'll be wearing hats again
If you’re seeing red or you’re feeling blue
If you wanna bust caps and wear them too

Gentlemen, it won't be gentle when
I sneak into your base and steal the faces of your helpless friends
Stealing your briefcase really was a brief case
You think you're smart but I have the intelligence
Be a man! Why do you have to die screaming?
I shoot you, take the loot and take my suit for dry cleaning.
I’m not cheating you ignorant swine
I creep in and sneak things right into your spine
When I fight with my butterfly it stings like a bee
So tonight tell your mother 'hi', give her a kiss from me
I'm debonair with deadly flair, I'm anyone and anywhere
The face your mother wakes to is the last you'll ever see
HEAVY:
I am heavy weapons guy
I make puny babies cry
Want to live? Rule one:
Don't. Touch. My. Gun.
May be slow, no need to rush ya
When i'm rolling with Natascha
Fill you dead with holes we crush ya
Leave you cold like snow in Russia.
That's puny gun! I punch more damage!

Howdy! The engineer’s in the field
Farm boy charm with a megaton yield
I’ve got a cranium laced with uranium
Dispense your offense with the weapons I wield
I'm hot stuff, ‘cause I’ve a hundred degrees
So if you boil my blood you’ll get burned on Steam
I'm over qualified to leave you nullified and tan your sorry hide
You'd better run and hide or die by my machines
Just a friendly Engy
Preventing entry with a deadly sentry
Each practical problem I solve, my skill mounts
The only thing higher than my IQ is my kill count
PYRO:
Fire! Fire! Fire! Fire!
Emboldened scolding folds of red and gold are my desire!
Its my sacred duty, keep the beauty burning higher
Leave you dismembered in the embers, every felling swells the pyre!
I'm a terror from the nether, something that you've never seen
With a charcoal soul, heart pumping kerosene
You've met your match you'll be a charred patch on the floorboards
I'll strike a match and strike the match off of the scoreboard
What's it matter if my brain's deranged when I snuff you out?
Boy, does it look lovely out! Candy canes and fluffy clouds!
Racking up the kills as I’m cranking up the grill
Easy to blow you away when you're just powder
MEDIC:
Got a little headache? You'd better call the Medic!
Were you wanting anesthetic? Really don’t be so pathetic
That burning is a bird within your sternum that snuck in whilst I was working
But I think a bloody dove is quite a lovely aesthetic
You grazed your knee? Well it seems to me
You need invasive exploratory surgery
See I may have a little uncertainty
Between patient, Specimen? It’s a blur to me.
Get the point of my syringes at your hiney
I’ll Übercharge and buff you 'til you're shiny
I could fix you quick with my medi-gun

@@generalgongthehawkeye557 pyro is like the Kenny of tf2 except he isn’t dying every second 😅
i adore how everyone's verse is in character both in its lyrics AND its structure. like. so good.
scout's got a bunch of simple, rapid-fire rhymes because he's the quickest class
demoman's verse has a lot of different speeds in his lines, some are slow but others are quick, almost like a drunk person stumbling around (i could just be crazy on this one)
sniper has a lot of emphasis on the beats during his lines, almost mimicking the slow and steady gunshots from a sniper's rifle
soldier imo has the least conformity to the instrumental while he sings (i hope yall know what i mean), which reflects how as a character he's kinda unpredictable and does his own thing for the most part
spy's lines probably have the highest amount of wordplay in them, which is perfect for his manipulative playstyle
the heavy is slow, his lines are simple, but still well written because heavy has a phd in russian literature (iirc)
the engineer's verses (the best ones) have hands down some of the cleverest lines heard in any song, which considering the engineer's crazy intelligence is extremely fitting
pyro never really had much personality so i love the way he's characterized here, hes super crazy and chaotic while also having kinda grandios language which is just cool
medic's rhythm is pretty simple but his lyrics are totally deranged which is really fitting to his character
