sometimes I look at even the easels that you attach to tripods and go 'nah'. your setup looks nice and simple and inexpensive. those darn art toolkits every time I see one I have to stop my other hand from buying one.
Yes to the Scooby Snacks, they are a must! Thank you for taking the time to post a comment! The kit has been working great for me so far. Have a good one! :)
Once you discover how much better Velcro is than magnets it opened a lot of possibilities for me when sketching on location! That folio kit looks like it holds quite a few colors which is nice. I like how lightweight this set up looks. And you're right- snacks (and water) are essentials! :D
Agree with all of your comments! Velcro is awesome. I do prefer it over magnets. And the Folio palette is quite nice as a plein air palette. Thank you for watching and for posting a comment! :)
I have/use a lot of the things in this video, including the Maxpedition. I don’t have the palette, though. I’ve been thinking about it but just can’t get myself to splurge because I find that a make-up palette from the Dollar Store does the job.
Thanks for posting. I have heard others suggest a dollar store palette, I don’t think they are comparable because the Art Toolkit one has a nice dedicated mixing space. But yes, it is more expensive for sure. :)
@@morrisonwatercolors I sand off the make-up design on top of the lid of the ‘palette’ and then paint it with white acrylic so that the inside of the lid is white, which I use as my mixing space. I don’t have to worry about it getting stained because the acrylic paint is on the other side. I’ve watched another artist on YT use Art ToolKit and it looks like after a while, the mixing space becomes stained. ??
@@kathyhackney7950 The acrylic paint will not get wet if you paint the top of the palette. You then use the underside of the lid for mixing (the unpainted side but it looks white from the acrylic, if the lid is clear).
Really nice. I would have liked a strap since it's easier to carry than using your hand or fingers. Nice idea about the velcro in the board. I would add gummy bears instead, lol.
Would love to see a video with a walk-through of the colours in your folio palette… thanks for the informative video (am building my own sketching kit too)!
Hi Naomi! Thank you for posting a comment. That’s a great idea for a colors walk through! I have a couple other videos in the works but I have been meaning to do a “what’s in my palette?” video so I will try to add that to my list. Great suggestion! :)
@@morrisonwatercolors I was really surprised by how flat and how many colors you had in that palette. So I looked them up online. But wasn’t quite sure what size. Thank you for a very interesting & helpful view of your travel kit.

Which size Palette is that? Folio?
Hi there! Yep, that is the Folio palette. Right now it is my favorite travel palette. It works great for me! What travel palette do you use? :)
