    Good video to share knowledge and experiences. I think the small base die really becomes important and even critical if you fire cases either from unknown origin (picked up on range) or through multiple semi-automatic firearms. If you get one with a tighter chamber than another the small base die will keep that from becoming a headache. And potentially even a danger.

      Cant disagree with anything you said. The only downside would be working the brass much more and reducing the number of reloads that you could use the brass for. I haven't had any issues yet using my standard dies on my rifles but as you suggested the small base would probably eliminate any potential problems on someone else's rifle?

      Yes I think you are 100% on the money. I’m having cycling issues with my AR10 I went with Krieger for my barrel and bolt. I tried to use some remanufactured 150gr 308 Winchester Ammo from Freedom Munitions. Lol 😂 yeah no every round caused cycling issues I personally think they marked it as 308 Winchester. But in reality it was more along the lines of 7.62x51 nato and in a AR10 that’s marked 308 Winchester that can make all the difference between a reliable rifle and a not so reliable rifle. Especially if the chamber is cut to match specifications from a company that produces barrels for long range target shooters.

    Okay if the RCBS SB resizing die works that good on a 223 it’s gonna DEFINITELY do what I need it to do on my 308 Winchester cases for my match chamber in my AR10 great video thanks for making it

    Hello Peter - I hope you have A/C in the garage, I live in Phoenix and when the outside temperature is 110 F, it's usually 6 to 8 degrees hotter in the garage, no A/C... LOL.. That's why I have my reloading bench set up inside the house. :-)

      Thanks! I have a portable swamp cooler that can easily cool off a three car garage but I'm usually to lazy to get it fired up! Lol! My daughter lives in Surprise, AZ and you guys usually beat our high temps here in North Las Vegas by a few more degrees! My only real complaint to living in the Southwest! The brutal heat!

      @@peteregger7928 Las Vegas is about 1,000 feet higher in elevation than Phoenix and yes we usually beat you in the afternoon summer time highs by about 5 degrees.. LOL.. :-D But we always say, and your daughter probably says it also, It's a dray heat! LOL..

      RCBS and Dillon is all that I have so far. Watched quite a few reviews on Lee dies and have never seen anyone with issues. I think from what others have said they are a great value! Thanks for watching and commenting.

      I manage to use my standard RCBS and Dillon dies with good success and all my rifle chambers are in spec. I haven't had to use the small base die sets yet but thought it might be a good option to have. I full length size after each firing and every one of them gets gauged and whatever is needed before assembly. I'll also check a few out of a batch in the rifle as well. I rarely reload for bolt action. It's almost always for my AR's. Thanks for watching and commenting!@@Joe-hu7di

      Usually I just load to SAAMI specs maybe with different types of bullets, powder and charge weights. Some reloaders seriously get into the weeds for specific rifles and chambers blue printing every last detail. I really enjoy it! Glad the video helped! @@carlitos_714

    Interesting.... I’ve been considering getting into hand loading.... just because if shtf I’d still be able to have ammo.... seems pretty expensive to get into though .... definitely no beer and loading also a downside 😂

      shtf, ammo is the tough part. Learn how to make each part small scale at home. The smokeless powder may be a great trial for many not well versed in chem, however I think the patient and determined will continue to have ammo. Get all your tooling now. Go get it champ.

    did you use the matching shell holder for each die setup? and would you recommend the rcbs small base dies for a ar-15 type of rifle? I am getting into the 300 blackout arena and want to reload so I am doing my research on dies!

    • @peteregger7928
      @peteregger7928  4 года назад +2

      I used the same RCBS shell holder. The small base will definitely make sure that your brass will work with just about any AR platform but with my rifles I don't think it's needed. If you run your standard die tight in the press then your brass should be fine for AR's. The small base dies will also work the brass much more and shorten the life.
