    Since I was a baby, I can remember always wondering: "What is everything?" Now, in my early 70s, I still deal with existence through my intuitive grasp of reality, sensing that there is an underlying reality that is more real than that which the senses can reveal. Studying physics gave me a deep insight into this, but you can get it from Zen Buddhism, meditation, or looking deeply into simple things. Unless you are blind, you must be able to see it. But being an iNFJ has made it easy. Read the Buddha, he was a true genius, a master of the inner self, and from reading about his life he must have been pure iNFJ. I mean, he was a wealthy prince with palaces, musicians, concubines, clothiers, jewelers, tutors, and everything that the world had to offer at his fingertips. But he walked away from it, in search of what was real.

    I love being an INFJ, but sometimes it's hard to deal with peoples insensitivity and utter lack of empathy for those in the world around us. "All for one, and one for all" is definitely a huge principle in my life, as I feel that changing as many lives as possible in my little corner of the world will ultimately have a ripple effect and positively impact people I may never know or meet. It also makes sense that it's the rarest type, as there's really not that many people out there who would put it all on the line for the benefit of the greater good. You gotta have something you'd be willing to die for before you truly live, which I'm sure my fellow INFJ's will agree.

    This is one of my favorite videos on RUclips(and that's saying something as I spend most of my days huddled around my laptop sucking in videos like a smack addicted anteater). It might be the profoundly beautiful music, or the wonderful visuals, or the excellent summation of the type. I honestly don't know. It's probably that discovering the MBTI(and this video) was a cathartic release at a very critical point in my life, which gave me a renewed sense of self and understanding. Thank you. I will be forever grateful for that. I've probably watched this video at least 25,000 times, so I decided I ought to post something. It's not often that something so seemingly insignificant as a typology RUclips video triggers a personal renaissance. So when it happens, I suppose it can't hurt to show gratitude. I know you've moved on Mr. Penny Thoughts, but I'd like to say that I'll be waiting for the next video until I vanish from the Earth. Cheers!

    very nice explanation and animation of my kind. this world is seemingly ever increasing in hostility and destruction. the dualities are at war, but only one side is itching for a fight. after years of pondering i have come to the conclusion that being myself, ie showing kindness to strangers and just being me in my surroundings is the best way to evoke change. actions always speak louder than words, especially when it's on a personal rather than an organizational level. it's time to take our heavy brush (awesome metaphor, btw!) and paint the town.

      Johnny Nolifer I think it's very common for INFJ's to want to feel understood. That's why there are so many of us on the internet yet it's a very rare personality type to have. Most other personality types feel satisfied in knowing their label whereas we INFJ's need more information lol. It's pretty neat, I think :)

  • @oldprofile718
    @oldprofile718 9 лет назад +2

    Interesting points but slightly idealized. Extroverted feeling is not always hearts in bubbles, nor is it always readily received by several other personality types. Gandhi was mentioned, but that list also includes Hitler, which is evidence that describing a type within optimal conditions or by strict generalizations can get iffy. If you've taken multiple tests that have come back INFJ, even then, within the percentages, there is room for slight variations. So, it may be more helpful to simply describe the nature of introversion or how it factors into the process of developing a complex worldview from intuition or the compulsion to assess and offer that worldview rather than placing characters within controlled scenarios or describing how a person with the INFJ personality type may appear others. Or at least that was my first thought... I could be wrong...

    As I'm reading through the comments for this video, which is being watched, I'm assuming, mostly by INFJ types, I find that the views expressed tend to veer away from the general mishmash of most YT video comments. Is this because we (INFJs) are better at expressing thought through the written word (also, the few INFJs I've known personally seem to logophiles (word-lovers), including myself), or are those seeking out this information just more "academically-minded," thus better able to express a clear written thought? Or both? Or neither? Sometimes it feels like when you string the right set of words together, it can create something magical, which I know is a total aside, but, y'know....

    As an INFJ, my melting pot of personalities in my family is absolutely stressful.
    My oldest brother is an INTP, aka Logician. We have so many conflicts because he tries to answer everything with facts, theories, and logic, and gets offended and defensive when that is questioned. He is unable to have many strong emotional bonds because of this, and thus we have many a time when my emotional thinking gets in the way of his logic.
    My other older brother is an ESFP, aka Entertainer. He is my exact opposite on all fronts. He's the social butterfly that everyone likes and everyone wants to hang around. He wants to make other people smile at all times. His people skills make me really jealous, so when I'm in the same situation as him, he gets all the attention and I'm left in the dust. His personality makes deep conversation that I relish impossible. I asked him a simple question, "How was this class for the year?" He said, "You know I don't like those questions. Stop asking me them." He blanks when deep conversation comes in, so his arguments always fail. He is always looking for the pleasure of today, and not the consequences of tomorrow. But the thing is, he is so good at seeing other people's feelings, that he is so generous. Even when he is crossed and rages one day, he buys me dinner the next. He is so caught in the moment, I say he has anger issues. He can get so heated and angry over nothing, it is almost ridiculous. So as you can see, he is my complete opposite, so I have the most (unwanted) conflict with him.
    My Mom is where my brother got his entertaining genes. She's pretty similar to him, but has a one letter difference. She's an ENFP, aka Campaigner. She's the life of the party, just like my brother, but at the same time, she has an N, or is intuitive. This one difference is what is able to tell them apart. She's very emotional, and sometimes relies too much on her intuition and her instincts, that things come crashing down on her. As an INFJ, having her as a parent is.......interesting. It's kind of difficult at times because of how much we contrast. But when it comes to idealism and intuition, we together can link and find something in common. In that case, she's a fairly good parent. She's pretty crazy, but I love her all the same.
    Now my Dad. He's a tricky one. But I am sure he's an INFP. He is so mysterious. He's able to put a mask on with ease and act like he's the most outgoing and emotional person out there, but when he get alone, his mind starts to show itself. He relishes watching his children grow, but at the same time gives them morals that he wants them to follow. His emotions are sometimes his downfall. He's so hard to get to know, and that's why I am sure he's this type. He is much different than me, so he is not an INFJ.
    So my family is a mess of personality types. So much conflict, but at least I know, as an INFJ, I can just love on others and help them find a way.

    • @dakotagalloway4715
      @dakotagalloway4715 9 лет назад

      +I Sir Laughsalot I have a very similar family also. My mom is a ENFJ and KNOWS EVERYTHING (atleast she thinks she does). She is a control freak and can talk to anyone with ease. She cares about everyone, and thinks its her duty to tell people how to live there life but only out of love. Shes crazy, but who isn't. Im sure my dad is a INFP and is super mysterious also, and loves to watch his kids grow up but quiet about it. He lets my mom kinda take on the role as a father and mother in a way, but still stays the father. The only thing is I have five siblings. It is interesting to say the least. I am the oldest boy and I am pretty sure my brother right under me is an INFJ, insanely mature/wise for his age. I think I am an infj also just not 100% sure. But anyways just read your comment and just could tell your parents were just like mine.

      Allison R it's very common for us INFJ's not to have any friends. Not because we aren't well liked; we are usually very well liked people. The problem is that we are picky and don't want to deal with bs. We are quite perceptive when it comes to others' facades and we can see right through them. I can tell you right now, I had many "friends" in high school from all different groups, but I quickly cut them out of my life due to them being fake, manipulative people. We will most likely only have a few (at most) true friends in our lifetime.

    oh man... I have been doing construction work for about three months now. I graduated with a film degree and I thought I could do this kind of work. But the work environment is so draining! I will daydream and try to focus and remind myself over and over to focus and stay on task but I keep running better career opportunities in my head. If you are an INFJ like myself do yourself a favor and avoid physical labor! The work is tedious, the people are crude and unforgiving and are typically downers on a regular basis. I have been wondering if TV News might be a better fit? I mean that way I would use my degree! But would it become to tedious, or would the teamwork aspect prove exciting and rewarding? Ugh, my body aches and my head hurts. I know God is growing me, but that kind of sucks at times!

    Rasputin is considered an INFJ, the Ni - Fe combo is particularly good at reading every ones emotional states and why. Coupled with Ti, they can have a habit of saying the right things to make anyone feel emotionally validated, good or ill.
    your vids are good, you should go into healthy and unhealthy expressions of the functions.

      Meade Skelton I think you can take as many test as you want but don't rely on the results, my best advice is to look up how the functions work and place yourself in a personality or get another point of view, because sometimes we can get blinded into thinking we act a different way than we actually do, because there's this image we put on, then there is this side that no one sees that is you. :)

      Another feature of the INFJs is that we are very vengeful and we hate Injustice the most, so we want bad people to pay for the pain and damage they have caused. You can think of it as our dark side, thoguht personally, I have a lot of dark sides lol. Actually, most of he people I know don't really understand me. They believe they do because I'm nice to everyone, but we u don't usually show ourselfs in public. We have mask of kidness to cover that fact. That's why we're introverts and that's another feature that makes us different from the other types.

      I'm pretty sure I'm INFJ. I've taken tons of times different MBTI tests and always got the same results and I've read a lot of times the descriptions and perfectly fits in. I tell you because I feel completely identified with a song and helped me to understand a lot of things about me. It's called "Forget it" from Breaking Benjamin.
      For example this part "Everytime I get it I throw it away, It's a sign I get it. I wanna stay, By the time I lose it I'm not afraid of love but I can surely fake it"
      Totally me. I'm always complaining about not having a partner, but when I do I in some point of the relationship I get lost. I quit feeling affection and I start "feeling" bored and she's annoying. But That's because I think that she's going to hurt me somehow eventually and because I feel misunderstood and I can't be who I really am (because neither she or me know who I really am haha), Then I start to fake things and do things I don't really want to do because I don't want to hurt her and I just want her to be happy. Even if I'm not. And when I lose her (after a while of being that way and had enough of it) I realize she wasn't that bad and I want her back (:fucklogic:). I think It happens because I've not found yet someone who can make me feel I'm in love. Even "Liking" is difficult for me. So, Yeah, It's difficult to be an INFJ, but if we find a partner and friends and understand us and people we can trust in, you can be sure it will last forever or at least it will be a bound almost unbreakable. Try reading the part of the song I wrote again and maybe you get better now what is about and if you want try listening the song. Maybe you understand about yourself better if you do =).

      Research the functions and assess yourself; it is the only true way.
      The tests are good but we often skew our answers unintentionally.

    Infjs believe they are better at understanding fi users than they are

    • @ayazmomin

      You fail to realize a healthy INFJ is always looking for more information in developing their understanding of anything. At least you can take solace in the fact an INFJ will, for their lifetime, continue to refine their understanding of Fi. What this means is, rather than being defensive with INFJ's, if you provide them with more information, they will happily absorb and incorporate it into their view. For whatever reason, most Fi-Ne users do not seem to like this. My ISFP friend believes I understand him quite well. He actually feeds information back to me whenever I am incorrect about something, and it leads to a pretty great understanding between the both of us. Why would you go out of your way to post this comment in a video that is clearly very bright and positive is curious. All the best.

    • @lianage.3885
      @lianage.3885 10 лет назад

      reasondeep I haven't been defensive with INFJs but i still find that they see my Fi as selfish. I try to explain but I can never explain it in the Right way to them, and so it all goes unheard, really.
      You should ask that same question to the INFJs who post so much negative stuff about INFPs on youtube and MBTI forums almost constantly. They seem to find us despicable, for the most part.

    • @ayazmomin
      @ayazmomin 10 лет назад

      Liana Ge. It's interesting how many INFPs post the same thing toward INFJs. Also, it's easy to forget that the INFJ sub-type is a rare one, and it's easy to have mistypes. It is hard for me to imagine not absorbing what someone is telling me, whether they are fighting me or loving me.
      I do not find INFPs despicable, but I am convinced that by nature INFPs *are* more self-oriented than INFJs. By nature Fi-doms will take care of the inner world first. That is the nature of an introverted judging function. You stand strong and independent internally. INFJs stand strong and independent externally. Internally everything is spread out in every direction and depth, there are no bounds for taking in information. There is very little sense of self for the INFJ. This means even our external decisiveness is generally not attached to ourselves, it is attached to what Ni perceives to be the surroundings. With Ni-Fe, this means we are by nature ridiculously selfless. Whether we are capturing reality or not is another matter altogether, but the intention is no doubt selfless. I sometimes feel like it would mean a lot for an Fi user to actually acknowledge and appreciate this aspect of the INFJ, but usually Fi-Ne users almost refuse to acknowledge that aspect of us. It's always confused me a bit why it is refused as strongly as it is sometimes.
      I truly want and intend to encourage the independence of Fi. It is not natural to me to function in that manner, but I see beauty in it. I just don't find this sort of reciprocation from the INFP. In other words, I feel like I am always trying to meet the INFP half way, but this is not being returned. The INFP doesn't even realize they're shutting the INFJ down as the INFP never had this need of meeting half way to begin with. In this sense the INFJ is overly dependent on the external world, but the INFP is overly independent of the external world.
      I suppose this is the constant tug of war between Fe-Fi. I do believe there are points in this tug of war where things fall into equilibrium, but both sides have to first step into what is uncomfortable for each other in order to reach this place.
      Anywho, I have gone on for much too long now. Takecare.

      reasondeep Really? I feel like I barely read any INFP criticism of INFJs, at least compared to the great volume of INFJ posts with major criticisms of INFPs, and/or that dismiss the type completely. Fe hates Fi more than Fi hates Fe. Search INFP in the INFJ sub on reddit and then INFJ in the INFP sub... you will find a TON of super harsh posts about INFPs in the INFJ sub, and none of the latter.
      INFJs are 'selfless' but you have to remember that Ni is totally subjective and internal and a sort of value system has everything to do with the self. sometimes INFJs can forget how subjective Ni visions are.
      I DO appreciate how externally 'selfless' to a degree INFJs can be (i mean, a lot of them do tend to keep score and require a certain INFJ communication though) and i think many INFPs do appreciate INFJs too... imo many INFPs have reacted strongly against INFJs only when under attack by the type; search INFP and INFj discussions on google and you'll find a lot of really really harsh criticisms by INFJs about INFPs; they don't even try to see Fi as anything but utterly selfish.
      INFJs really struggle with just how internal the Fi of INFPs is...you guys really require a lot of communication and back-and-forth and naturally always want to reach out due to Fe... it's sad that there's such conflict here but there always will be when the two types are wired in completely different ways. when i'm in a group of Fe users i feel like such a selfish alien.. how can i make them fully understand my need for independence and honest expression at all times? i doubt myself. we never will fully understand the struggles of the other + how difficult it is to be either one of these feeling types.

    • @VivroMori
      @VivroMori 10 лет назад +11

      No, but INFJ's do tend to be reserved because they're so cerebral and the depth of Ni as a dominant function. Reserved does not mean unsocial, it means that they're gentle, tactful, and modest. They are incredibly social.
