I usually agree more with Shannon than Skip, and during those Spurs runs I usually rooted for the other teams, but man, Manu was an absolute Beast!!! I like how Skip gave him his due props but Shannon has no arguments for not recognising the accomplishments of a Legend on his retirement ceremony... Wow, Manu, we miss watching you, you're an inspiration! The comparisons to Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant are legit.
Razor58 if you watched the video, Shannon said Manu wasn’t the best Spur for a season or series. Manu was the best player for that 2005 season. I guarantee you, if you ask any of those Detroit players they would tell you he was the best player for the Spurs. Manu would have been Harden if he had control of a team and Harden would have been Manu if he was still coming off the bench like he did in OKC.
I would have been okay with Manu winning co-MVP with Duncan. Tim had to deal with a three-headed monster in the paint named Ben Wallace, Rasheed Wallace, and Antonio McDyess, and Duncan's help down low was Robert Horry and Nazr Mohammed. I don't see how the Spurs win that series without either Manu OR Tim.
I agree, 100%. As a guy who watched every minute of that series (I was a Pistons fan), even I said RIGHT AFTER, that Manu should have won MVP. No doubt.
Big time... he was by far the best player on the court and he was the only reason they destroyed that Pistons defense that seemed unbeatable... Manu was that unpredictable guy that was just unguardable cause no defense could read him...
As a die hard laker and Kobe fan when we played the spurs repeatedly in the playoff the player on that team who scared me the most was manu n for a period of time I also think he was the best overall player on their team he could score rebound a GREAT passer and could defend and draw charges and they gave him the ball to close so it’s not far fetched to say he was the best player

Im from Argentina, i lived in Argentina my entire life, i followed Manu's carreer, Europe, NBA, Olimpic Team. Saying that he is in a pedestal in Argentina just or mostly because he won a gold medal is not only not knowing the Argentinian people, is being ignorant and disrespectfull. Manu is on a pedestal in Argentina for what he is, what he represents, what he has shown us he can do and how proud he make us feel. Most of that is reflected in the words of his partners and opponents in the NBA. What was reminded the oder night. Im sorry, i dont care if he is not his favourite player, but that does not give him the right to disrespect an entire country. His arguments, his words are just disrespectfull and sad.

I know exactly what Skip is talking about. Shannon I think has an idea of what Skip is talking about with Manu, but he’s having too much fun raining on Skip’s parade. Manu was a basketball genius. He was as humble and selfless a player as there has ever been in the NBA. He was as clutch as anyone who’s ever lived, even tho he missed those free throws in game 6 2013 finals. He was maybe the best teammate ever, even tho he got fed up with Kawhi last year and kinda threw him under the bus. I love Manu. He gets that same kind of reverence and love that Kobe gets cause what he meant to his teams and franchise and fan base goes so far beyond numbers. It’s about the memories and experiences. It’s about the moments when he made your jaw drop with a big shot or a brilliant pass/move or even his occasional POSTER DUNK which he did even in the last two finals runs for San Antonio. Much love and respect to Manu 💯💯✊🏾✊🏾
Manu “Obi one Ginobili” was amazing and definitely under appreciated by those outside Spurs. But those who actually watched him play know how great he was as a player and a person. Yes. Sarunas Marciulionis brought the Euro step to the NBA. Manu was an extremely athletic yet very crafty player. A hall of famer for sure. He did things that allowed his team to win games. Skip and Shannon made statements that showed me that they don’t understand the game extremely well. But they have a right to their own opinions as well as others.
God damn, Shannon is a hater this episode. Ginobili BLED excellence, this is coming from a Steve Nash era Suns fan. So much respect for Manu, we will miss you.

Ginobili is one of the all time greats. He's a big reason the Spurs were so dominant. He had a huge impact on the playing styles of every player in the NBA, especially Wade who adopted Manu's euro step better than any other player. His tenancity on defense and offense is to be respected - a true champion.
Of course Shannon hates Ginobili. He’s part of the reason Lebrons Finals record is so bad 😂😂

2005 Manu Ginobili should have been finals MVP! Manu was the best player for the Spurs for that series, HANDS DOWN!
I stand on that... I have told any and every bball lover that Tony n Timmy D dont have 4 chips without Manu
Michael Spragan and Manu don’t without them what’s ur point
No doubt.
Ginobli was robbed the 05' NBA Finals MVP !!
Big time... he was by far the best player on the court and he was the only reason they destroyed that Pistons defense that seemed unbeatable...

Really? You couldn’t stop Duncan... and didn’t Tony Parker always tear y’all up. Manu had the black mamba to worry about lol.

I'll never forget game 7 of the finals against the Pistons who beat the Shaq/Kobe Lakers 4-1 the year before. It was that time in the 4th quarter when buckets were hard to get. Ginobili had the ball outside the three point line. He sliced through the Pistons defense and two hand dunked it. Changed the momentum of the game. It doesn't get more clutch than that.
I moved from Detroit to San Antonio between the '04 and '05 finals, and I can tell you that, although Tim and Tony were better than Manu, the sound of cars driving down the street honking after Manu put the nail in the coffin will be burned into my memory like a nightmare for all time.

Most of that is reflected in the words of his partners and opponents in the NBA. What was reminded the oder night.
