After years of wanting to get another bike and my wife saying no she seen a ryker rally pass and now suddenly she wants us to get one (she claims i never told her about these... I did many times) but she found your channel and is really wanting to get one now 😂
I have 7 bikes and my girl is ok with being a passenger but was hesitant to ride. She always liked the ryker so I bought one a couple years ago and she loves it. We added a rider backrest, MTX audio and a windshield. Just put a Max Mount and SlingModz saddlebags and tour pak and are deciding whether to change the whole seat or just add a passenger pillion. She also deciding if she want passenger pegs or floorboards.
It's a wee bit crazy to see you driving in jeans. Be warned that if you have an accident with a broken bone, they will not operate if you have even a tiny little bloody abrasion on your skin. This is due to the risk of infection. Then you have to wait until it is healed, if it comes very badly. With me it was so! And that was an accident at walking speed. ALWAYS neat clothes!
The definitive video on 2 up Ryker riding. Love your emphasis on safety. When we had our Spyder RT my wife and some of the other senior ladies wore passenger seatbelts in case of dizzy spells. Traded our Spyder RT for a sports car so with $$$ left it has to be the less expensive Ryker if we are going to get back into biking again as a couple. You and Beth always do top notch videos.
Thanks John. Really appreciate the kind words. The passenger seat belt is a great idea for seniors and kids as well. Hope you get back in the saddle again.
Awesome video! Good advice. My wife and I ride 2-up majority of the time and she consistently remarks she is quite comfortable. Driving smoothly and taking it easy in the corners is helpful. I’m really glad you have focused on safety, I see too many Ryker videos promoting unsafe riding. Great job!
No need for signals ryder will be beating on you when you hit rough pavement and go into oncoming lane. True that and the tell ryder not my fault had no control. Will be ryding solo from then on!@@RideAboutNow
Ohhhh, thank you for this. I am looking at getting one of the Can-Am Ryker/F3. Seeing the folding seat was nice, I will be definitely getting one of those.
Thank you sir. Appreciate the kind words. It was a lot of fun making this video. If all goes well in December then we should have another couple of videos out together.

Watched the adventure, good job with your experiment. Good tips to share, I plan to take my 10-year old son for rides, so great idea on signals and communication between driver and passenger. Thanks to the both of you for doing some of the work for us and sharing!
Great information thanks for showing the community that its possible. I have the full set up in California. This helped me understand what's to come on the road! 💯🤝🏽🙌🏽
Great passenger test ride. After watching a couple times, I would say, if your going longer distance with a passenger, go with the Spyder version or two wheel touring bike.
For sure. The Ryker is really a solo machine and the Rally is good for short distance passenger riding once in a while. But the Spyder is the way to go if people really want 2 up riding.
My first trip as a couple was with my wife. We drove directly 20 min with full speed (105 mph) over the highway. I see absolutely no problems to drive even longer time with 100 mph with two up. With the exception of the wind of course. Also on winding roads I see zero problems. But OK, I come from the ATV. Unfortunately, our EU Ryker have a throttle up to 50 mph. Up to there, they only have the power of the 600, but that's not unpleasant as far as cruising goes. At full power, you have to have yourself very much under control.
Best way to describe leaning with you is to tell your passenger to keep their head to the left of your helmet on a left turn. Keep helmet to the right of your helmet on a right hand turn.
I am in the market for a three wheeler and was really interested in the Ryker, but I didn't think you can put a passenger on it. And while I don't need that ability very often, it is essential occasionally. So I really appreciate this video! I am going to call the dealer today! Thank you!
Great video guys!!! Been looking at these BRP Bikes for a while now. Think the F-3 Spyder will fit the wife and I’s needs most. We ride 2 up a lot and comfort is a big concern for us. We use to have a Valkyrie with Corbin saddles/back rests. So I think the 1330 cc would be a must for me!! The Valkyrie was 1530cc and it was a flat 6. Very powerful bike, so I think the Ryker would be better for a single ridder that only rode 2 up once in a while. We ride a lot with her cousin and her hubby, they have a big Ultra Classic Harley. Mostly only on day trips, but some days can = up to 500+ miles sometimes. Great info here, haven’t seen any videos like this. Hats off to the both of you, great colab!!!
Thanks DJ. For sure the Ryker is better suited for solo riding and like you said once in a while 2 up for really short distances. The Spyder or any large cruiser is the way to go for long distance 2 up riding.
Great video. My bike was in for service, a friend with a bike offered a ride. This was my first time as a passenger. It was a terrifying experience of my life. 50% was my friend messing with me. Have zero control over the ride was so scary. now after 30 years of ridding, I have only been a passenger 3 times. I have had passenger 100's of times. This also make me very worried about their safety. Solo ridding is the best. p.s. 1 time I manipulated events to make my mother ride as a passenger to pick up her car. This was her 1st ride on a bike. she was 50% terrified, 50% thrilled. But said she would never ride again...She remarried a guy with a Harley collection. I guess she preferred the Harley to my CBR.
Haha the Harley seat felt like a couch compared to the CBR I bet. I also prefer solo riding and don't want a passenger with me at all unless I need to.
Passengers have to hold on to the driver a little not just to the back of the bike because passengers don't feel so secure on the back of the bike.. Awesome ride
That adjustment is to adjust preload. That is the amount of sag the trike has when someone sits on it. You do not want this to be to high or to low (which will in effect cause the trike to feel softer or stiffer) because it effects handling. There is a set amount of preload you should be in on a motorcycle. What that number is on a trike, i have no idea. You can youtube how to set preload to learn how to calculate it on a motorcycle. It would be the same for a can am, but the number you are shooting for is probably different.
This is not correct. The red knob is for compression damping. This means that an additional counterforce is generated during compression. This is generated by the fact that the oil flowing from the damper is throttled. This is only effective during dynamic compression. The stiffness of your suspension, on the other hand, results only from the spring stiffness (i.e. only from the spring). This means that no matter where the knob is positioned, the tail always sinks by the same amount at static rest. The spring preload (via the thread on the spring) also changes nothing in the stiffness, it only changes the height and accordingly the sag and the spring travel (ratio between positive and nagative spring travel). RIDE SAFE!
Interesting video, having a passenger is always an attention grabber. Everything you normally do when riding solo has changed. It helps if your passenger is a Ryker rider. Keep up the great work. Your both produce excellent instructional videos.
@11:13 fwiw, he doesn't carry his 130 lbs nearly as well as she does her 90 lol. She gets off, no noticeable suspension rebound; then he gets off and *BOING*... the bike was all "aaaahhhh, relief". Kidding aside, this was a great video. It's apparent that safety is #1 and that's the only way to fly / ride imo. As I'm entering my "I wanna Can Am" phase, I look forward to more vids from the both of ya. Thanks! Edit: @15:58 lmao!!!! Double edit: I'm like #999... next one gets a box of corn flakes; or at least should. idk
Lol the suspension is really made for 1 in my opinion but can ride 2 for short distances. If you need 2 up then an upgrade is necessary. Thanks for watching.
All the questions I had about panniers, a top box and a rear seat has been answered and also the rallye would be the one for me but with the panniers, top box and rear seat but I’d never go far for two reasons and their names are poppy my cat and my four legged poop and fart factory patches my dog
Great video to have come together on. I would hope all that allow a passenger to climb aboard would drive at a higher level of responsibility . Communication between the two, utmost importance. System as you had established or helmet to helmet. They Must feel safe and secure . How was the wind as the passenger with the new windshield? Thanks to all that contributed to this video and Ryker safe so you can bring us more.
Thanks Tom. Your are absolutely right. As a rider you have a lot of responsibility if you take on a passenger. The wind management was not bad I could feel it on my helmet but I sat taller than Beth anyways.
Wow after watching that video... tip.... never take your hands off the handlebars, when you have a passenger and your on a hill or curves... hazzards in the road.. construction, potholes, other distracted drivers...big saftey issue... I would ride with Beth...
You have quite a setup with cameras on your helmets and on the bars, the one on the left hand side seems to restrict the view form that mirror but that may be just how it appears not as it is for the rider. I like the tall wide screen it must be good for the rider but what about the passenger who seems to be sitting a bit higher. I'm curious as to how the 2 riders affect the bike. You spoke about braking and turning but I'm interested in how it goes in just normal riding. Do you feel the 900 copes well with 2 riders? I know these have a CVT but is there a noticeable decrease in power with 2 riders especially when taking hills? I've never been a passenger. I am conscious of the responsibility the rider takes on with a passenger - it is a scary thought. Thanks for posting.
I clamped the camera on one of the hand guards just for this video so I could get the passenger clearly in the shot and luckily it worked. To be honest I don't think from factory any of the Rykers should be used for 2 up riding. Even the Rally is good but there is still a weight limit of around 300-330 pounds. You will have to spend a lot of money changing shocks, might as well go for an F3. The power seems to be okay but it takes a hit for sure. The whole dynamics change with 2 up, you have less power, longer braking distances, turning is heavier because not you have a passenger. It is a lot of responsibility for sure and you need to have pre ride chats with your passenger so all are on the same page and they know what to expect. It is a bit scary if your passenger has not ridden before unlike a seasoned passenger.
Two up is ok but I think the bike is just a bit small for that. If the other person can ride, I have found that it's much more fun if your partner has thier own bike.
Yeah it's not the fastest thing but has enough power to go up hill. We tried that as well and although the video doesn't show much elevation but these roads are in the Red Top mountain area so they are not exactly flat. You can tell that the bike slows down a bit but I wouldn't worry about not making it uphill.
I have a question. I will be a new Ryker rider here soon. Does anyone know the max occupant weight for these? I am built like a football player and I weight 314 pounds. I want to experience the Ryker with my fiancé who weighs 213. Would our combined weight be too much for the Ryker to handle? I would appreciate any responses!
To my understanding, a Ryker 900 Ace has a maximum weight capacity of 450 lb. Even without that, I recall reading that the passenger seat has a specific weight limit of 175 lb.
I think you need an upgrade suspension for 2 up. In my opinion Ryker is not really meant for 2 up riding for longer trips. Best to get a Spyder even a used one. The suspension on the rally was already at its highest for 2 up riding but still not enough.
@@RideAboutNow Thank you for the reply! I'm very very new to it all. Do you know of a good one, or can point me in the direction for a 2023 Rally upgrade?
I would say it's pretty dangerous to have your gal relying on the bike for support as the passenger. Some kind of tether that pulls her in or grips her closer to you if there a quick turn.. on a regular bike she has her arms around you or she is holding onto the bike. It seems like it's difficult for her to have arms around you. Because of the elevation..
So the hard plastic saddle for passengers is nothing they have back rest so comfy? If you are ryding 2 up RTL. You do not save money buying cheap plastic crap. Now add more $$ and think of all the money you save being a ryker owner. Wishing you could buy a RTL spyder. 2020 new model is out. The pre 2020 are cheaper now. Can buy tricked out RT, for same price as new plastic, need more brakes. Unstable, etc. No down shifting potential. Just hard on brakes. Do you thin you are going to Dead wood and no cruise control? Talk about carpal tunnel. Racing up down mtns. They are the sportster of the Spyder world. Look good on a trailer. Probably safer, rode them as prototype, new and very unimpressed, until fitted properly, Down right dangerous. No Joke test ryde one yourself but be caution hard to keep in 1 lane for novice. No hater tell what I know, wife friends to. No one I know has traded a Spyder for a ryker.
Dennis thank you for watching and your feedback. The Ryker is really made to be a solo riding motorcycle and not for long distance passenger riding. But there are some youtubers that are doing that and are happy. But yes I agree the Spyder is way way more comfortable and better at it. But having said that, this Ryker cost me 12k out the door brand new. I searched for a 3-4 year used Spyder for months before giving up and was not able to find a used one at that price. That was my budget. I found 1 or 2 F3 Spyders for about $13k with more than 70k miles on them. That was going to be a no go for me. The 2020 RTs are from roughly $22k to $27k here in Atlanta. Used ones are still close to new prices and the older models are still in the upper teens, if you can find one in good condition. In my previous videos I mention that the Spyder was my first choice but you have to go with what you can afford, and the Ryker fit the bill around my budget. The cheapest Spyder here is the basic F3 and that costs mid $15k and that was $3k over my budget. The thing is when you want a used one it is tough to find so when you make your purchase after that you start to find the bikes you were looking for LoL. If I am able to in the future I will upgrade to the Spyder for sure.

One thing I did learn about turning with a three wheeler, is that your leg needs to be at almost straight when negotiating the turn, therefore reducing the gravitational pull.
Sure. The biggest thing is to lean your body in the turn to balance the opposite force out. It's easy to get the hang of it after a few turns.

Ya it is a weight on one's shoulders for sure.

Hi! Nice video! Well, it seems that for the passenger is quite uncomfortable.
Thanks for watching. It is a bit tight and only good for really short distances. Think of any other naked bike and same deal. Best to ride solo.

Two up is ok but I think the bike is just a bit small for that. If the other person can ride, I have found that it's much more fun if your partner has thier own bike.
Absolutely correct.
600lbs dry weight and 80hp. Wonder if it will still ride uphill with a passenger?
Yeah it's not the fastest thing but has enough power to go up hill. We tried that as well and although the video doesn't show much elevation but these roads are in the Red Top mountain area so they are not exactly flat. You can tell that the bike slows down a bit but I wouldn't worry about not making it uphill.
Ur 📷 skills is great but one ?? Do those rykers come with radios n speakers
Thank you. They don't.
Oooh 😮 ok so I be seeing some with speakers I guess it’s custom thank u for replying
Don't think you guys said where you guys were at making this video ...
We were between the Red Top mountain visitor center and Lake Allatoona boat launch area.
I am not sure but I think it was around 300 to 350.
To my understanding, a Ryker 900 Ace has a maximum weight capacity of 450 lb.
Even without that, I recall reading that the passenger seat has a specific weight limit of 175 lb.
What park did you start off at? Looks like Georgia...
Yup good eye im at red top mountain
i have to get the spyder cuz im too heavy for the ryker lol
Spyder has a lot more features anyways.
What's the jacket Beth's wearing in this video? Looks nice and lightweight when you don't need something heavy, does it come in men's cut as well?
That is a good question. Not sure but I know that she had a video on it if im not mistaken.
@@RideAboutNow thanks mate I'll check out her channel :)
The passanger needs to hold on to the driver, those handle bars on the seat aren't going to be great for stability
Thanks for watching. The Ryker is not really suitable for 2 up unless you are just doing a short ride. Spyder is the way to go for 2 up riding.
❤😂 🎉 thank you, preparing for 88 yr old rider wanting to be passenger. Planning ride for charity group, if she's up to it?
Nice.
What would be the most weight for a passenger
I think the total weight limit for rider and passenger is about 300 to 350 pounds. I am not sure on that number.
That was a ride that almost ended in a Tragedy
Thank god we prevailed. It was a bad road for that video I guess.
Didn't catch it, but did you up the preload on the shock when you swapped riders?? Allot of weight on that rear shock.
I don't remember, I think we had it to the max before we started but not sure.
At 15:00 she went crazy fish hook to make a right turn. Maybe 2/3 of the tires were over the double yellow line. WTF was that?
It was a bit of a rise and a blind turn but luckily didn't go over much at all.
Thanks for the video. Can you please tell me if the passenger is always sitting higher or does it depend on who is taller?
The passenger seat is a bit higher.
@@RideAboutNow
Thank you
Beth what kind of shirt are you wearing and do you know if they make them for men?
She sells them on Etsy under Ryker Rydes.
@@RideAboutNow I was talking about her jacket lol idk why i said shirt 🤦🏼♂️
@@ashleyd3506 lol not sure but I do know that she has a video on it on her channel. Check it out.
I know this video is 2 yrs old. Did you feel you should have changed the rear suspension to '3' when you swapped?
I think you need an upgrade suspension for 2 up. In my opinion Ryker is not really meant for 2 up riding for longer trips. Best to get a Spyder even a used one. The suspension on the rally was already at its highest for 2 up riding but still not enough.
@@RideAboutNow Thank you for the reply! I'm very very new to it all. Do you know of a good one, or can point me in the direction for a 2023 Rally upgrade?
@@pmmc8370 I would ask the parts counter at your dealership. Best place to find out what will work. I think Canam makes one too.
Great video. Did you keep your other panels if so are they the silver ones if yes do you want to sell them?
If you’re talking about the side panels then no i returned them to the dealership to get a 100 dollars off the ruby black ones.
you (both) are very brave 😁 I would never sit on the backseat 😬 very very nice video 👍🏼
LoL and we never have after this video.
Hi
Please ask how purchase India customer?
No idea partner.
I wouldn't be a passengers *uck that. They need to raise those arm rest lol
LoL Definitely not meant for long 2 up riding from factory.
I read the max weight was 330lbs on the 6 and 900 ryker. What's your opinion?
Too less. The motorcycle was bottoming out on certain bumps. Definitely need an upgrade on the rear shocks otherwise not for 2 up long rides.
@@RideAboutNow thanks
Beth , where did you get that jacket?
I think it's Bohn Armor.
I do not think that rear seat looks comfortable. I would not want to sit on it for 100 miles. Don't think my wife would either.
For sure, this is only for short bursts that is it. Spyder is the way to go for 2 up riding in my opinion.
Does the engine drive the rear wheel by belt or driving shaft?
Belt.
@@RideAboutNow elsewhere it says, Spyder belt drive and Ryker driving shaft drive
@@ylou4901 then I am not sure. I know there is a drive belt you have to change possibly every 12k to 18k miles so wonder how come it is shaft drive.
@@RideAboutNow it's the cvt transmission belt, there is a transfer box and a driving shaft for the rear wheel, my mechanic told me.
@@ylou4901 that's cool. That makes sense since it is a single sided swing arm that looks like a drive shaft.
Are you OK? Can you add friends?
All good here. Alway open to adding friends.
I feel it's dangerous either way I guess. Thanks for watching.
Guyanese ?
No. Pakistani
@@RideAboutNow
Are the passenger foot pegs comfortable?
@@geromedrepaul5629 they were just fine for the short ride I was on.
Hah, seems like she's driving much more aggressively.
LoL
Man they need to work on their presentation.
Thanks for watching.
Interested in bike not a bloody safty lessons
Well this was the ring video for that. I have other videos specifically on the bike.
Yeah..when he said it take longer to stop that don't make me feel good at all.
Lol. More weight longer stopping distance. And you can feel it on the Ryker.
@@RideAboutNow I'm not a fan of 3wheels bikes..but just one break....I'm just going to stick with 2 wheels.
