Thai is easier to speak than English. Because Thai language speaks sentences from front to back. But English doesn't line up sentences with words. For example, what are you doing? but Thai sentences Will arrange sentences, words such as you are doing what. you=kun, are=gamlung doing=time, what= a line. Thai reads aloud that.Kun gamlung time a line. It has the same meaning as English. What are you doing?if you understand this simple principle, you will understand Thai language easier.

I truly love your style of videos because I appreciate how you are simultaneously light-hearted and entertaining while also being informative for the audience and respectful of everyone you talk to, and I would love to see what you could do if you were able to dedicate like six or eight weeks to a single production. I'm not saying I think you should stop doing your usual videos (please don't, I love them dearly lol), I just mean incorporating them as an annual/biannual project where you can dedicate it to studying a language/culture you've always wanted to get into but didn't have the time for. Not to speak for the entire audience, but I think we'd love to see you pull out your inner Anthony Bourdaine for a video or two!

I like the way you make the video and the way you talk to people. We love it when foreigners try to speak our language. If we laugh while talking to you that's a sign that we like you and want you to try more. Just keep talking. Don't worry if you say the wrong thing, no one will care. We understand and everyone will sincerely help you. Thank you for your trip to Thailand. Have a good time. 👍👍👍

You were at about the same level as I was on my first visit. After a few years you'll be OK 😂 Thai is a very logical language, it's just getting the vocabulary down which is the problem. I now have a big collection of music, videos and books that help me - plus, of course, a Thai wife, family and a lot of Thai friends. Daily need to speak and listen really drives the learning process. Being based in a small town in the NW hills gives a new dimension to the culture.
Going for เผ็ดมาก on the som tam was bound to end in tears - I love my chillies, but I know that to ask for that is a challenge . . .
A few years ago I was at a Thai food festival in the UK and the ladies asked if I wanted my som tam made with one chilli or two, and tried hard not to laugh when I said five. Then they hid and watched me eat it, after which they gave me a round of applause.
However, when we go somewhere new in Thailand, they always put the spicey dish in front of my wife.
    And 200 Baht was a bit overpriced . . .

200 baht for a tuk tuk from Khao San Road to China Town.
For me, as a Thai person, it's a normal price.
Because I pay this price But if taking a taxi, it may be a little cheaper.
This year, inflation and war made everything more expensive.
Tuk-tuks have a bad reputation for price gouging, and it's normal for those who want to use their services to be wary of prices. For me, as a Thai person, I think 200 baht is not expensive at all because after they drop off tourists, they have to return to the same place because there might not be passengers on the way back.
Unlike taxis, they are easier to find passengers and run throughout Bangkok.
This is the view from me.

    • @patricktanna4947
      @patricktanna4947 Год назад

as a thai, i think it would have been hilarious if xiaoma replied to the 200 baht offer with "lao pen khon thai duay gan, pee!", which tanslates to "big brother! i'm a thai person like you!" this is a play on the fact that there usually is a foreigner price difference and thai people love absurdist humor. as the poster above mentioned, 200 baht is fair and he probably felt a little sheepish for saying 1000 baht earlier, even though he was just half joking.

You're so cute trying to speak Thai. For Thai people, just you try to talk, even if you can't speak properly, but we will try to understand what you have communicated. We like people who try to speak Thai, we don't mind if you don't speak Thai correctly. We say that trying to speak Thai is your charm. Or even better, if you say " Krub " at the end of your sentence, it will make you look very cute and humble in our culture. The word " Krub " is used for men and the word " Ka " is used for women.

I have ridden with the tuk tuk guy at ~4:15 twice lately, both times from exactly where you found him. If you're doing this well with the spicy food on day two, you'll have no trouble with the inputs, but it'll take a while for the outputs to stabilize. I hope you were able to spend a few weeks in Bangkok.
I'm taking my first Thai reading lesson this morning. Wish me luck!
