Phirst of all, welcome back! We're always happy to receive detailed and constructed pheedback, especially from a veteran player. We'll look into your ideas and might include some of them as a time-limited event to test it out. Our top priority is to keep the majority of players happy.
Hopefully you will try to make these changes as it will bring a huge amount of old players back and it will just improve the game in general where players can use things like the tiger 2 is2 M26 T29 ect without fighting heat shells or sabot rounds every match.
The Majority of new players don't even care about WW2 stuff, for the last 3 years Gaijin marketing is like WOWOWOWEEEE ABRAMS T-80 F-16 WOWOW! If they split it, then allow players to start a tech tree at Rank 5 starting Cold War. Let the players choose the era of gameplay. Someone who is interested in Modern Tanks doesn't want to grind 30 WW2 ones they're not interested in to get there.
This needs to happen as well. But I think too much $$$ in those high tier prems. I think the conventional cap idea could work and they would be okay with doing it because at this BR spread it doesn't really effect their bottom line, as much of the money coming into the game is from high tier (assuming)
@@WeBeStronk Yeah but the issue is Gaijin would be losing money if they did that, thats why they sell premiums so then you can speedrun your way to top tier. I wish it was the way Odd said but I highly doubt Gaijin will ever do this. As for Odds proposal, I say there should be an era cutoff, any vehicle post 1950 has no right fighting any vehicle that was produced pre 1950(or ww2 if thats what you want), tiger II's shouldn't face bmp-1s similar to what phly was saying.
You can’t cry about the APDS because it’s balanced especially in UK with shit armour. I think I displays the turn of the war well as German tanks stopped being the best
@@CurryBury Fuck apds... i dont want to play my 10.5 tiger 2 while i get constantly sniped across map by a vehicle from the 60s that has 350mm heatfs... Just horrible gameplay and balancing... And i havent even talked about the 4.0 swedish tank that has a 300+mm pen heatfs, like wtf is this doing here?
Honestly that grind kills the interest, cuz sometimes I wanna play on weekends at least for 1 day and without premium account its doesn't make sense, I simply dont wanna play because I know if I wanna research new tank I should play for 2-3 days in a row with premium, but I have only 1 free day
@@schizophrennicautist3858 what? Germanys 6.7 lineup is the biggest SL printer in human historyn its my go to lineup to grind out battlepass challenges.
The biggest problem is that Gaijin approaches balance like a bunch of small, individual problems rather than one large, systemic issue. They keep putting bandaids on bullet wounds without wondering why the balance is shot in the first place.
Yeah. They tried to make spawn camping harder and give backups to premiums rather than trying to think why players leave early. Wouldn't unlimited respawns with a cooldown for the tank you just died in and allowing joining in progress fix that? Players could still leave because of bad maps but that's just another sign for Gaijin to do something.
@@ollilaine6763 Or move spawns behind battlefield lines, so the opposing team can never fly/drive over enemy spawns? They also have never fixed the issue of bombers spawning only 1km above fighters, making it VERY easy for fighters to climb and shoot bombers before they have even a chance to drop bombs.
@@Dakarn Moving spawns further away causes more frustration for tank players since they have to spend more time doing nothing and potentially get killed on the way to the battle. That just encourages to quit or to spawn a plane.
Exactly, I'm as scared as playing the King tiger like jm playing a light armored tank with no mobility... It gets killed so easily that you have to camp a spot and just sit there the whole game
This is shomething i have been thinking for a long long time myself never had the voice like you so im happy that one of the biggest warthunder content creators voiced about the issues
Brs need to be spread out, sounds crazy, but perhaps even to 15.0 Modes and maps and their objectives need to make geographical and tactically progressive sense. Vehicles from other nations should not be in other tech trees. This just ends up with a homogeneous boring "balanced" mess. The point of different nations is to present what they have, not to make all the nations competitive on the same level.
I like your idea of a WW2 br cap. I would also like to see a gap between non stabilized cold war tanks/early mbts, and fully stabilized mbts. There is absolutely no competition between the 2.
the is-6 at 7.7 is dumb i feel like more of a medium light when playing it, and it can only pen for examle the Maus when it is flat on the side. i think it should go back to 7.3, or a way better round.
maybe we can add a second gamemode called Historical and you can only play vehicle from that time periode so something like (1939-1940) and (1944-45) and you can even add (1950-1960) or so. it will probably break the game because the tiger and shermans but you can do something with a limit on those tanks in matches so a german team can have 5 tigers and a american team can have 10 shermans. idk just a idea
@@MrBadbaronme personally I don't like the sneaky spots people go to, because a large portion of them are outright bs. Looking into spawns or sitting in a spot nobody can do anything against
@@looke3392 Map makers can just block those places off via buildings or other man-made constructions like trenches, walls... If not, just an invisible wall
Your totally right, I sick of being clipped by players in tanks, that as you said have no business looking at me at the br I’m playing. It’s so frustrating as I’m now a new player but have watched your videos for years and I never realised how much it’s changed over the years, that and you make it look so damn easy my friend
Their greed is so short sighted. They took over a decade to even properly advertise the game due to penny pinching, and lo and behold now that they advertise the numbers have shot up overnight and sustained.
more varied game modes, bomber formations in air rb, traction and torque reroll, grind mitigation, stock stat/shell adjustments, more non premium emblem slots and more detailed emblem adjustment controls, higher spawn cost for planes in ground rb and limitation to 3 per team
I think the trees should be split. Pre 45 and post 45. That was the End war tanks like the Tiger E or hell even some variants of the Sherman. IS line etcetera. Can duke it out conventional style, gun vs gun no ATGMs or Guided bombs (except the one German bomb that was radio controlled) and then the modern boyos can have their Post 45 battles as well. We can have our cake and eat it
I remember how excited I was when your “Return of the King” video came out. You got me into War Thunder and it’s been a good time. I got my friends to play it and it became like how COD was in the 2000s. I’d come home being excited as hell to play with my friends every day and we would have a blast getting new vehicles every day just having fun. Thanks Phly!
@@PhlyDailyphly I don’t know but what do you think about just the mismatch in planes and tank at BR 8-9.7 like I’m not trying to have my m60 AOS be supported by f86 sabres like they need to space it out if you know what I mean I think it would also make that br more fun if the tanks and planes linned up realistily a bit.
FINALLY SOMEONE SAYS IT!!! Thank you Phly! I've been saying this for years and it's a constant negging problem. They put Cold War vehicles in our WW2 bracket and we get slapped by HEATFS rounds consequently. My Jadgtiger was not built in mind to account for HEATFS. Things like that is ridiculous, let alone the ATGMs we see in either forced uptiers or WITHIN the 6.7 bracket. It's obscene and Old Thunder was much more balanced. Ffs, the Maus was in Tier IV battles and was still balanced. They put a cap on it to be a limit of two per-match. "Boss tanks" aren't a problem insofar you cap how many are in the match or increase their SP. WW2 vehicles and too late to make WW2 vehicles should be stuck together. Maus, T-95, IS-3/IS-4, T-29, T-32, ect, they should be all together and not put around Korean War/Vietnam era tech. It's absolutely ridiculous and we need to push for this to be fixed. I'm stick of playing with a Tiger 1 and having to compete with a PT-76 that has HEATFS at 5.3. What kind of nonsense is that!?
Complaining about heatfs at 5.3 when there's the German long 75 at the same br with what 8mm less pen and it does much more post pen and is a higher velocity fuck outa here
@@FASIL_503 It did fine back in the day. Take the tracks out and the barrel and you're good to go on the rest. Not to mention there are equal capability vehicles that can knock it out.
Hear, hear! Gaijin, just add a "Classic" Realistic WW2 Game Mode without anachronistic vehicles and those stupid meme-y scouts with OP autocannons, recoilless rifles, and ATGMs, and Jets, and whatnot. Thank you.
A proper ww2 mode as you say would be near impossible. With Germany only having like a single king tiger per team, with a few panzer 4s, maybe a panther or tiger here and there. While allied team would be able to have dozens of t34s or Sherman's. A proper ww2 mode would never work, as the axis team would always be at a disadvantage. The allied team would also have complete air superiority as well.
@@ethanedwards422 Of course WT won't reenact IRL WW2 fighting. The fact that there's no infantry already negates the point of being "hyper realistic", and nobody is asking for that. What he wants is a mode where there's exclusively conventional munitions(No ATGMs, Modern SPGs, Chemical rounds like HEAT-FS and other Cold-War era weapons) because HEAT-FS and ATGMs negate the point of armour, the one thing WW2 heavy tanks have. A mode where there can be some Tiger 2s, Mauses, IS-3s, etc. No Leopards, M48s, no MILANs and such.

No its just a game where vehicle of different nations put against each other based on their battle rating. Historical Matchmaking as an optional new gamemade would die!
Same here. for me its like why play something new that everyone knows when I can see what beasts our grandfathers used to operate and put my self in his position using his old machine
The game is also fundamentally designed for Korean-War and older vehicles, The objectives and maps simply make no sense with modern vehicles, and the game plays very poorly, with fast vehicles circling around the map like its call of duty, only limited by artificial map boundaries
Me too, i wanted the Panther II so badly, and the GLORIOUS Tiger II 10,5CM! THE MAUS! THE E-100!! The Flakpanther!! Now that i finally reached those ranks i cant get them anymore because they were removed, AND I SEE PLAYERS WHO GOT THEM BACK THEN IN BATTLE! IN MY TEAM! Man i want to cry, it was my childhood dream tanks that they removed from my favourite game, they fucked up my favourite game
Same. Whille having that Leopard I is nice i came to play stuff like Tiger, Panther, ISU-152, T-34's, Spitfires and Stukas. Kinda sad they re purposefully made into an obstacle and not a cool part of the game
I will tell you this much. To me, this game ends at 4.0. Anything above that and you start seeing copious amounts of post war designs. Shermans, Tiger and Panthers forced to face things form the 50s and 60s. It is absurd. 5.0-6.0 is a one shot fest at this stage, I just can't bear playing it - basically every match at those BRs is like this - you move 50 meters and suddenly something one-shots you. Call it a skill issue all you want, but if you get, say... Poland and I die 20 seconds after going out of the spawn... this just isn't right. And if I don't die within that time by some bloody miracle - I get a CAS to the face at 3 minute mark. But even lower tiers are now infested by vehicles that never saw actual action in WW II, or machines that pack copious amounts of post-war ammo. Sabot rounds at 2.0? Swedish auto-loading howitzer? Give me a break. If I wanted fantasy bollocks, I would play World of Tanks. Another thing is CAS - Aircraft have their own exclusive mode. They don't have to care about man-operated AAA. But since gaijin allows Air to live another day, air becomes everyone else's problem. Everyone has to endure their presence. And it takes one kill or two assists or less to spawn in an aircraft - you can literally spawn in CAS after a single cap - 2-3 minute mark and you have flying disconnect button above your head. And the worst part is... There are ZERO alternatives. If you want a WW II tank simulator, you have to scrounge for a janky, barely working and scummily monetised Ill-2 tank module (which in itself runs on antiquated engine), or pop-up some ancient-ass simulator, like Panzer Elite that barely works on modern hardware - to the point you have to pray for it not to crash every five minutes. Literally, some of your only alternatives come from close to quarter of a century ago. And most simulators either barely work, or require a damn piano course to even begin to control them, because user interface is apparently some form of black magic.
Some of my suggestions would probably be, - improving the Volumetric mechanic (it still suck ass sometimes) - reducing the research points cost of all modifications especially for high tiers and top tiers - bringing back the Enduring Air RB and ground RB also - having a WWM event with vehicle rewards would be good - AND ANY NEW GAMEMODE IS ALWAYS BETTER, GAIJIN !!! (WHERE IS THE D POINT??) WHETHER IT'S FOR GROUND AIR OR EVEN NAVAL, BE CREATIVE !!
@@StarWarsExpert_ long bygone game mode when Gaijin still have some creativity outside April fool's. Basically : - Enduring Air RB is just like air SB but with RB mechanic and you win by completing it's many objectives to reduce enemy point to zero - Enduring ground RB is Battle mode (CMIIW) but with way more points Both have unlimited spawn, and it doesn't need back up to spawn another one. You just need to pay the repair cost of that particular vehicle. At some occasion there's just the naval version of it as right now
Cannot agree with the last point more. Been Playing the same game mode (COD domination) for 12 years, but man, I just want some more scale. Give us battlefield like conquest or rush, where you have to push sector by sector. Gaijin pls
I totally agree with you. Another problem is making it able to get a plane 20 seconds into the game. I love CAS, but it sucks when you get revenge bombed right after your first kill.
What he's saying is dumb tho, the tiger 2 is still crazy good if you play it right even in an uptier. Heavy tanks should not be invulnerable and light vehicles are an obstacle you need to work with your team to deal with. It wouldn't be fun for anyone if nothing could pen you frontally
@@mameyn9282 The whole idea behind "boss tanks" is especially fucking dumb You grinded the IS-4, which is a perfectly balanced tank on its BR? Well, tough shit fucko, now you need 1500 SP to even try to play it

@@gold-uzkon-user1697 How much pen does the 122 get? And can you pent the IS-2 frontaly? And the Tiger 2 has unpenetrable hull armour, while the is can be pened at multiple places.
6.7 uptiers to 7.7 feel like the worst thing in the world until you play 7.7, and get an uptier to 8.7. Most 7.7 tanks are built on similar ideas to 6.7 tanks, but better. But 8.7 tanks aren't even connected to 7.7 tanks. 8.7 vehicles are a whole different thing that most 7.7 tanks cannot do anything about.
My biggest problem with GrindThunder is the fact that once you get to the Jet era, Spading takes FOREVER, because you are always going to be flying a 7-8 BR jet with no missiles going against 9BR jets with 8+ missiles.
Facts, i have gotten to 7.7 USA after YEARS and started looking through the early jets weaponry. Once you get to 7.7, you go against 8.7, and they have missiles. What the fuck should i do against those jets? They go faster, with better weapons and they have missiles.. like wtf?
@@Luke1902 There are some airplanes in which it is doable, but it is rare. The mig19 is a good example of a plane that beats early missiles quite easily. The guns are enough.
That's a severe skill issue you'll get over in time. Early jets are fine. Early missiles are easy to beat and the performance difference isn't that huge. The problem is how compressed 11.0+ is and how quickly the meta changes. Just looking back, half a year ago the MiG-29 and F-16A were the best jets around and now they're basically worthless. Stock grinds are really bad, and the difference between jets with good IRCCM missiles and enough countermeasures and the ones without are huge, yet gaijin still fails to see it and puts planes that should be 2 whole brs apart into the same matchmaker.
i dont because things like the is4m would be stuck with cold war only when its design is 1947. imo i think the cap should be a korean war thing. 1933 to 1953-4 sounds good to me.
So a Leopard 1 that fights M60A3 TTS is okay? I reckon you don't see that theres more technology difference between these two. Than there is between a Panzer III and Leopard 1..
say goodbye to most of Sweden lowtier. for example, the strv 74. it's basically a ww2 vehicle, with a 75mm on par with the 76 or 85 and a chassis based off of a knockoff to the panzer 38t. however, it was designed in the 50s and used til the 80s. so i hope it'll have fun fighting against MBTs like the t54, leopard, pattons, centurions, etc.
Dude I remember the absolute peak of fun to me was years ago when I killed a Tiger II with a 105 Sherman, now its like who cares almost any lighter tank can kill a tiger 2 at its tier because they get crazy rounds or missiles
well maybe, but the tiger 2 isn't really that hard to kill when you get into it. there are vehicles with highly annoying HEAT-FS and stuff, but it really just comes down to proper positioning and being aware of your surroundings. remove all the HEAT-FS and APDS vehicles and give them lower penning rounds and i feel like little would change expect for maybe on bigger maps. you sitll have weak sides and everyone knows where to shoot you to knock your gun out and/or explode ur ammo
@@sayhellotoyou9271 not really, my story was how I killed it with an unlikely weaker tank. I just wish anti tank missiles weren’t always in matches with WW2 tanks. Kind of ruins the fun for me
People don't talk about how bad naval has gotten at this point because the br introduces dreadnoughts rather abruptly so you have light cruisers fighting dreadnoughts.
Even in the last Dev stream they got through the tech trees, 60+ minutes into the video, and they were like "Oh yeah, and there's uh, naval, too." Even the devs don't give a shit. I can't imagine anyone buys premiums for naval, especially when I've got like 5+ vehicles as event vehicles I don't ever touch.
I play a lot of 5.3 Royal Navy when I was shooting for the Renown, and I've never hated seeing a vehicle as much as I did with the Prinz Eugen. They can just park somewhere in full view of the enemy spawn and act like it's a shooting gallery, it's ridiculous.
naval should be an enduring confrontation mode for people with patience. long battles but big rewards for objectives and naval kills. only then will they make any sense in rb and sb.
the game rubberbanding at 4:00 was a flash from the past, I've always thought a WW2 cap would be a good way to implement there idea of having all three parts of there game play together. patrol boats and tanks and WW2 aircraft in the same match is legit a dream I had.
I have not touched this game since 2020 and I have a feeling I played in the golden days hearing how bad it is now, never knew you could encounter much newer vehicles while you're just touring around in your happy little WW2 tank

I mean we are talking about the same company that removed the sav for being too op and then added it back as soon as they realised they can just make people pay for it. If it does though, please do something about the planes! they need seperate br for ground battles or a rework or just remove them from the game, but something needs to be done. I’ve been advocating a change of the bomber concept for a decade in WT as it apparently doesn’t work and reduce bombers to point piñatas for fighter planes. The sad reality is that there’s extremely little interest from Gaijin into changing ANYTHING no matter how broken it is. Adding a Ground RB spawn protection, everyone was constantly asking for, took them YEARS. And even then they only made like the slightest changes as if they feared that spawnraped tanks being able to defend themselves would somehow break the game. Meanwhile in Air RB they decided by some point to add a spawn protection no one asked for and which hurt the mode more than it did good - tons of posts against this mechanic but they cling to it to this day. The ways of the snail go in mysterious ways.. but no matter the direction it’s a given they move forward at a snails pace.
Bombers got nerfed into the dirt, their gunners were made useless, their structural integrity is that of wet tissue paper where a single 7.7mm bullet will rip both it's wings and tail off (that's barely even hyperbole) I have just for fun with a maxed crew tested how long it would take for gunners to aim, track and fire at a fighter near point blank flying a straight line Let's just say the AI is so incapable that making their fire purely cosmetic would likely lead to most players not even noticing
@@commisaryarreck3974 AI only start firing at around 600m - which make them entirely useless. It’s a mystery to me why Gaijin even allows to spend points into some gunners skills like accuracy. It’s effectively a waste of points.
@@commisaryarreck3974 The bomber nerf was so sudden too. It was some day in 2014 and every bomber ever has been irredeemably garbage since. Some tiny exceptions, like the Me 264 or B-29, but even then...
I think all planes in ground RB should take off from airfield not air spawn. Not only it would nerf all planes it would make less revenge bombing(give more time to change position), and heavy bombers would take off much slower, have lower altitude making it easier for SPAA. I like playing SPAA but some have too long reload(13s or more) because of that I become useless and many of my teammates die from CAS. (I mean its ground battles not CAS bombing simulator)
@@trevorwhitham6742 4 would be best with a special exception given to Nuke bomber as a special 5th. 4 allows your team to mix and match with different fighters, attackers, & bombers while not limiting your team.
Isn't that exception made for planes like the PBY-5 Catalina and other hydroplanes that physically doesn't have landing gear for ground? PBY-5A rectified that, but still.
At top tier this would make planes worse because they already get spawncamped by pantsir without doing anything, this would make that happen way more often
as an Italy main I would agree if Gajin wasn't so bad about giving Italy balanced vehicles, they either suck, or are great. Making every nation unable to face any vehicles above ww2 if ww2 era is a death sentence for nations like France and Italy. Even the AUBL is bad, firing HEATFS at 6.7, as the Tiger 2 has barely any less pen and explosive filler
While I get where you’re coming from, Italian tanks have always just sucked IRL. Without going away from realism, they would unfortunately just be a bad nation in ww2.
Let’s be real here, italian vehicles have and will always suck until the 80’, and even then just the destroyers and light vehicles get saved, mbt still suck currently, as they wanna replace the ariete with the leopards cause they realised even the upgraded arietes cant do shit against modern tanks. That said, the only way to make italy great would be to boost the tanks unrealistically. Or, give italy a sub nation. If there was no hungary, italy would be played by you, me, and a few other italian fellas. Thats just the reality. Until modern times, italy has always sucked, so theres not really much you can do about it.
As an Italian main I pretty much solely play high tier because there is a really strong 9.7 lineup that I really like. I play it because the quality of the tanks are really consistent and there aren’t really any bad ones except for maybe the VCC 80/60 but that’s still decent
i am ALL for this. Not sure how they would even implement this. 1. ... they would have to yank on their shoulders Very hard (heads stuck DEEP in there) , 2. They are only focused on ruining the game and making maps straight line , no flanking. no sniping... But yeah... id love to have these changes implemented.... plus we need CAS to be HIGHLY nerfed (double their spawn points, and nerf the bajeesus out of all of their armaments) and it would be nice if we could get a True Tank ONLY mode.. NO cancer.. (aka, planes)
Cas needs to be nerfed but heavy tanks are fine as is, they are even really good in certain circumstances. If you are constantly dying to light vehicles its a skill issue
@@mameyn9282 hmm, sorta (on heavy tanks fine as is/really good).. Basically heavy tanks are too good in a full down tier (which are extremely rare) and pretty useless in a full up tier, since everything can pen them in most of those instances.

People could spawn a plane capable of killing the entire team twice over and immediately j out for a new plane with the same armament. For the low low cost of, capping a single point...)
its funny because ive said this exact thing before, that WW2 shouldnt be facing cold war era vehicles etc. but the WT community as usual just tells me "skill issue" and "it isnt a real game get over it" when it breaks the immersion and diminishes the gameplay of the era
Ive noticed plenty in the community get pretty toxic when you call out stuff like that, it's mostly the players who enjoy bullying low tire players with their modern tanks an planes so when people say ww2 an modern shouldn't mix it pisses them off

Now, now, I've been thinking about it a while now.. Bear with me... there it goes.... Reforming the War Thunder Tech Tree and Matchmaking: My proposal on how to enhance the War Thunder experience by restructuring the tech tree and refining matchmaking for better historical accuracy and player enjoyment. This new structure categorizes vehicles by historical alliances and eras, plus, ensures balanced matchmaking within these categories. Let's make an overview regarding of what we are facing... our... 3 Current Challenges: 1. Tech Tree Complexity: Players often struggle with the extensive list of countries and vehicles. 2. Historical Context: The current organization does not effectively convey historical alliances and conflicts. 3. Matchmaking Imbalance: Players using World War II-era vehicles face Cold War-era vehicles, leading to WTF matches and frustration beyond words. What I am about to suggest is purely neutral and a maybe incomplete plan, but its for the best and its really simple... Categories! So, the objective is: To simplify navigation and provide historical context (we need it a bit) by organizing vehicles under main categories based on alliances and eras, and to ensure balanced matchmaking within these categories (matchmaking vehicles by category and BR not by BR only). So lets structure it. 1. World War II Era structure and matchmaking lobby. Axis Powers: Germany Japan Italy Other minor Axis countries Allied Powers: United States United Kingdom Soviet Union France China Other minor Allied countries Note: We put vehicles to their perspective BR and limit the category to ww2 ONLY tanks, when searching for game it will only put players versus WW2 vehicles. Now, the order in category, has to be Alliance locked too. Sorry but no Israel in this lobby etc. You get the point. 2. Cold War Era structure and matchmaking lobby. NATO: United States United Kingdom France West Germany Italy Canada Other NATO members Warsaw Pact: Soviet Union East Germany Poland Czechoslovakia Hungary Other Warsaw Pact members Non-Aligned and Other Countries: Sweden Switzerland Israel Other relevant countries used in game. Note: Here we need to be more specific on what country is the vehicle we use, we don't need to put ICONS before the vehicle to let players know its an enemy or what country it belongs to. So instead of being lazy lets be thorough, organized, and accurate we don't put F15C here.. and certainly not putting 120B or A here.... you get that point I believe. 3. Modern Era lobby similar to what we have now. Current Alliances and Major Military Powers: NATO (Continuing from the Cold War era, with updates) Russia (Post-Soviet Union) China India Other major contemporary military powers via contents from upcoming upgrades and other development-active countries Note: That the structure and should be accessible by a browser like tab where it points you to the respective era and countries included in it. Now lets see the match making a little bit. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Objective: To ensure fair and historically accurate battles by aligning matchmaking with the tech tree structure with the intention of making the game more immersive. 1. Era-Specific Matchmaking mentioned above. World War II Vehicles: Battle Ratings (BR) will be confined within the World War II category. Example: A 7.7 BR tank from World War II will not face an 7.7, 8.0 or 9.0 BR tank from the Cold War era. Cold War Vehicles: Battle Ratings will be confined within the Cold War category. Example: A 7.7 BR Cold War tank will be matched against other Cold War-era tanks, ensuring fairness and historical accuracy. Modern Vehicles: Matchmaking will reflect current military capabilities and alliances. With that said, we reforming the tree will create many advantages and the Proposed Structure and Matchmaking such as the following will make matches more cohesive. The Historical Context: Players gain a deeper understanding of historical alliances and conflicts. Ease of Navigation: Simplifies the tech tree by grouping countries under recognizable alliances and having the distributed there (similar to what it is now but category specific), reducing the need to sift through extensive mixed lists. Fair and Balanced Matches (halellllluuuujah): Ensures that the players face opponents from the same era, leading to more balanced and enjoyable gameplay. And last but not least.... Educational Value: Provides a way clearer narrative of military technology evolution within the context of historical and geopolitical developments, making the game a way more educating/learing place with solid bases. 2. How to implement and Implementation Considerations Inclusion Criteria: Carefully select countries and vehicles based on historical significance. Interface Design: Ensure the new tech tree is visually appealing and user-friendly, easy to understand an relevant to what it was before, just, better. Update Frequency: Regularly update the tech tree and matchmaking system to reflect new discoveries and changes in historical understanding (what we have now but in a nutshell). Some relevant details regarding what our categories (before we select a country) will show in game could be. World War II: Axis Powers (Germany, Japan, Italy, etc.) Allied Powers (US, UK, USSR, etc.) Cold War: NATO (US, UK, France, West Germany, etc.) Warsaw Pact (USSR, East Germany, Poland, etc.) Post-Cold War: Modern NATO Russia Other Major Powers (China, India, etc.) And so on... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In short, this new War Thunder tech tree and matchmaking system intends and going to make everything so much easier to find and way more interesting by grouping vehicles based on historical alliances and eras. Plus, the matchmaking will be way fairer, so players won’t end up in mismatched battles like a WW2 tank facing off against a Cold War behemoth. Overall, it’s going to make the game more fun, educational, and true to history. Can’t wait to see this in action, thanks Phly for giving me a chance to post my E-Say!
As someone who works with AI. Warthunder balance is just a failure. It would only work under the assumption that their dataset (eg the winrates of different vehicles) is not biased. But it very obviously is. New players are going into certain factions and grinding certain vehicles. More experienced players will have already played those factions and vehicles extensively on average and are more likely to try others. You can't just throw AI at something like that and expect it to lead to a good result. The AI is not being trained to balance the game in a sensible fashion. it is being trained to create some absurd hodgepodge balance where vehicles popular among new players are completely OP and some factions just get shafted. There are ways to combat that. Maybe they even apply some of them. You could take player experience and overall winrate into account for instance. But whatever they are doing is clearly not enough. if they are even doing any of that which I am not confidant in. And really there is no reason to use AI here. Just have a human use their brain. Sure look at winrates. But also player feedback. Which faction it is in. And most important of all. What the vehicle *actually* is and what stats it has. I do think an entirely new mode that drops BR would be good. I always thought it was kinda uninspired. You could have different eras of vehicles that were around at a similar time. Rather than have everything on the battlefield be vaguely the same strength (but not actually) you could give "weaker" vehicles a much lower spawn point cost for instance. And boss vehicles seem like a good idea for those extremely powerful vehicles yeah.
First off, I hate the term AI. What is called "AI" these days is mostly just machine learning, not real AI. Second, is there any proof that they are actually using machine learning of any sort to balance the vehicles? I was assuming they just had some automated spreadsheets that did some simple calculations based on game data. Regardless of these previous thoughts you are correct. Garbage in, garbage out.
@@francoisvandermerwe5103 And anyone who's just starting in RB is going to have their planes at least one BR below their tanks. Also let's be honest early jets are not that much better than late props.
Also anything above a certain BR Mavericks and Sam's or not fun to play anyway. All it is is bridging the unfun gameplay into the fun gameplay. From push radar button push launch watch splash to actually having to f****** try.
Calling in boss tanks above the top tier honestly sounds so cool! The enemy team knows that you have a very powerful vehicle, and it's on them to adapt and react with the vehicles and strategies needed to defeat a tank with stronger armor and firepower than them. But a boss tank wouldn't be so far above the rest as to be unkillable. Plus, those "clash of the titans" moments when two boss tanks run into each other would be awesome.
I feel like this is what I deal with in my Sherman Jumbo 75mm and I see Tiger II H, there's like nothing, absolutely nothing, I can do to the enemy unless I'm at point blank range and shooting it from the rear. Even then, you can't reliably shoot the ammo. The American 75mm is just broken above 6.0. Though it could be a fun mechanic, because sometimes being mostly helpless and having to run away is the gameplay - like back when the B2 BIS would terrorize low tier and nothing would pen it, that was the "boss battle". It was glorious fighting against it, you'd just have to keep immobilizing it until someone with a heavy cannon or bomb showed up.
It’s not going to work people payed a lot of good money for tanks like T29,T14 E100 and so on it’s been said that the top premium is where the money is made but iv got more mid tier premiums then high I’ll buy 1 high tier ever few months then sprinkle in a few low tier’s here and their
Yea it sounds cool but I just don’t think it’ll work without a total overhaul of how the game progresses. The grind for modules really starts to ramp up at that BR so locking vehicles behind huge SP requirements will only exacerbate stock and near stock syndrome. Also doesn’t address how premium vehicles would work in that, because honestly it would be total bullshit to pay for a vehicle and then not be able to use it. If they don’t make premium tanks “boss” tanks then it’s literally just pay to avoid spawn costs for powerful “top” tier vehicles. I like the other aspects of these potential changes, but I don’t think the “boss tanks” can work with the game how it is currently.
I blazed right through a t-95’s front plate with heatfs and i genuinely thought it was cheating… no aiming for weakspots, just boom, driver commander, boom, loader gunner dead. I dont even like playing my tigers anymore because they’re just slow with no gain because everything can just negate its one old benefit: the sheer amount of steel pointed at the enemy. I like 3.7-4.7 these days as they have my tanks, the shermans, the panzer 4’s and the T-34s. The KV’s actually work at that BR because combat relies on slinging a steel round at a steel target taking into account the round’s pen, the target’s armour, the angle of the target, the range of the target and so on, so it actually feels rewarding to see “target destroyed” rather than expected at higher BR’s because the overpowered rounds
Big agree man. I stopped playing for all of these reasons. Even though I'm top tier in basically every nation with tanks and aircraft, I almost exclusively play pre-1946 vehicles. It's what I originally played for, and I've been playing since 2014 or so, whenever tanks weren't even a vehicle in the game. I'm tired of fighting vehicles that have no business fighting mine. The Tiger II has no business getting destroyed by a PT-76 ... that vehicle was the first time I'd felt almost offended by the choices of Gaijin. It just didn't feel like War Thunder anymore, and it's only gotten leagues worse sense.
As a sim main I could not agree more. Sim anymore is about the closest thing to balanced and even then... There is some really rough balance issues in it! Anymore the only good balance you can see is like 1.0-4.3...
Sim..balanced? There are certain BR ranges where both teams can pen the other anywhere but only one team has stabilizers.. You can tell by how no one wants to play certain BR ranges.
Hey Phly welcome back :) I've been playing WT since 2014 and it has helped me during some tough times, the ability to forget life's garbage and enjoy some time out playing was a relief. However, in the last three (3) years it has not been enjoyable at all with the focus on the post WWII vehicles, I now only play once a week (if that), I only play WWII vehicles and being donked from the other side of the map by the 'future' is incredibly frustrating, leading to a lack of desire to play. I would love to see a WWII only mode or some kind of tech restriction, I even contacted Gajin about it and was told, "there are WWII only events". :( I would love to have the fun I once had, now it feels like work (and that's at once a week), let those who like the modern vehicles have their fun with those who also like them, or perhaps it wouldn't be as much fun for them if they didn't have the WWII players to seal club on. I have unlocked the majority of modern vehicles and have never used them because I am not interested, and I never will be, for me it is about emersion and that has been sorely lacking in the last few years, a prominent content creator who releases regular content believes emersion is not a valid reason for wanting a WWII only mode, emersion is the only reason I play, and that has been shot to shit. I love your ideas, and I hope Gajin has the foresight to listen, because after all these years playing I am considering quitting, less stress for me and less money for Gajin. It was fun once, it'd be nice for it to be fun again. Again welcome back Phly :)
Hear me out, doesn't general BR decompression make more sense than this? I'm thinking we can move the Max BR to like 15.0 or even higher and then just balance everything else in between. Especially for Jets and ground realistic around 7:0 or 8.0.
@@PhlyDaily I think one of the problems with moving those Vietnam and cold war-era tanks up to a higher battle rating is the inconsistency of heat rounds. For example, the m56 scorpion can definitely be frustrating to play against in a heavy tank because of how easily it can use its heat round to penetrate your armor, but it sucks to use the m56 scorpions heat because of how unreliable it is. Yes, occasionally you will get those one shot ammo hits, but most of the time you just hit their driver and Gunner and they kill you with their Commander MG. I think if they buff The post penetration damage of sabot and heat, and then move tanks with those rounds up to a higher battle rating, the system will fix itself. Those tanks will be fun to play again because the round is actually reliable, and heavy tanks are fun to play again because they don't have to face sabot and heat anymore.
I've been focused on getting top tier stuff for the better part of 8 years now and finally realized the fun stuff is low BR. Nothing beats flying around in the M22 and being able to take out any tank with
Thank you for saying this. I've been thinking this for many years now. Also can't get over the fact 2012 was 12 years ago. Been playing this game for over a decade now as well lol.
I agree, one method of fixing this would be to have at tank's BR increased when modern HEAT/sabo and missiles are equipped, similar to how spawn points are increased with a particular weapon load out. This will allow players to throttle their gameplay experience to what is enjoyable to them without restricting what tanks/planes they can use. It would require a major overhaul but it would massively increase player satisfaction.
Problem is gaijin never fixes anything when they get feedback they ignore it until it blows up on them then they do good enough to silence us. It never fixes shite
no no they respond saying they'll fix it, then just don't, hence their comment on this vid "we care about feedback" yeah, sure ya do, ya care about profits more ya fucking leeches
I love the idea that BRs are era based. SP do not feel like a currency during battle, it needs more use then that, you should feel like you earn it during battle for the use of other vehicles, especially CAS. The idea of a special heavy tank and no HEAT sounds like a dream.
When I first got the JPz 4-5 I always thought it was odd that I was at the same bracket still as ww2 vehicles. It always seemed super OP even though it isn't the biggest violator of these issues.
@@broadside5994 It can't lmao what are you on, it's RHA 30mm on the sides and 50mm angled, and even if it could side pen what are you doing wrong to get .50 to the side of a highly agile TD with a strong HEATFS shell
@@givividivinci Well... that's what happenned when I faced them in tanks with .50 cals, I litterally managed to kill the rest of the crew after one main gun shot Also "lmao what are you on", I'm perfectly fine and normal thank you
the problem you'll see is people tend to float to the top or "best" tanks. So if you cap the BR at say 6.7 or 7.0...who is going to want to play tanks at 6.7 or 7.0 when you will only ever see uptiers? at tier 1 this is mostly fine since most tanks can still pen eachother and its extremely quick to grind up to better tanks. But imagine someone needed to grind 45-50 or even 60,000RP and like 100k SL to get just the next tank. So you will see a black hole form at that starting BR cap which will then have a domino effect, why play a 7.7 tank if your only going to be seeing 7.7-8.7 games because no one wants to play the lower BR and you get longer que times. At the very worst case situation this could wipe out a whole BR bracket or more.
Yeah, this would only mean early cold war becomes useless and dead, and same could be said for 5.7ish. Who would want to play a tiger 1 when a tiger 2 faces basically the same vehicles?
@@Gunboy122 the is3 isn't so scary if you know what you're doing. the is4m, maybe. the thing is, you can defeat the is3 and is4m with conventional weaporny (although the latter not so easily), but the Maus requires you to have a giant gun side hugging it, or bringing in an SPG or HEAT/APDS slinger.
What they need to do is give some vehicles that NEED it, a preferential Battle rating, where it cant get a FULL uptier, only maybe 0.7 or 0.3 higher. They can select which vehicles need this through the same system they already determine the battle ratings through with their winrates. A mig-15 at 8.3 can still perform decently well at 9.0, (provided there's no bs under BR'd missle carrier) but at 9.3 it get swept. If it had preferential BR it could only go up to 9.0, which gives plenty of room still to get into a match at a decent queue time.
that only works for air rb specifically though, everything else uses lineups, so there isnt much of a point to make singular vehicles have preferential match making. Also BR is decided by how much SL/RP a vehicle earns, not by winrate.
i think cas is needed to deal with campers in really good spots however i think u can fix it instead of removing it: 1. To spawn a plane u will need at least 700 sp like the drones in top tier. (can increase ofc depending on the weapons of choice on the plane) 2. ejecting from ur tank removes sp like around 100. Unless ur flipped over 3. Tank spawns are more spead out so its hard to predict where AA would be and would lessen spawn killing. 4. kill cam only showing the round going into ur tank and not where it came from / this is to lessen revenge killing
And planes have too much vision in RB . It seems so easy to plane to drop bomb perfectly🎯 while flying super low altitude. They should not be able too free look under their wings. At least to add some sense of danger close.
@@jacob-lf4id making plane ordinance ineffective in spawn imo would be good. it's ridiculous when you've just spawned in and are already being bombed or strafed.
I think the biggest issue thats being severely overlooked is the player base. Idk how many ppl play WT but for the sake of the argument lets say its 100k. If 40k are in toptier and 30k are in 6.7 ish and then 20k are "new players" somewhere below 3.0 or something then that leave alot of gaps with tough matchmaking if they were to heavily "decompress" the game. Then when ppl wanna play a certain vehicle but instead of having 90 different vehickes at its same BR it only has 25 its gonna make for some long matchmaking timers and frustrate ppl. The snail wants you to buy a prem and hop straight in. Not buy a prem and wait a minute or 2 to find a game. Ppl will be pissed bc they ate missing out on their prem acc times as well. I think this is likely issue #1 in terms of decompression.
The player base doesn't grow, new players quit after not even 2 weeks or don't even get to tier 2. Some want to see tier 8 right away because gaijin promotes those and seeing that you have to get a whole line and grind for 400 days is the perfect card to get them out of the game straight away. Furthermore, there are too many completely useless vehicles. War thunder has several problems and instead of looking back, they are just adding and looking forward, pampering the most active players (those with at least 1000+ hours) while leaving new players to sink and rot with a 10 year old progression system years and now it's just frustrating and not fun. Searching for modules? Train the crew? Is it a pvp or a pve?
I don't think stuff like the maus should be at that br because there are many tanks which can't penetrate it even from the side. More powerful "boss" tanks are a good idea but I don't think they should be pushed to the extreme@@PhlyDaily
The only problem i see is that some players would grind for tanks like the is-4 to have fun and if they are not as skilled as veteran players they would not get a chance to use the tank due to it costing too much sp to spawn which would lead to some players not wanting to grind certain tech-trees.
I still think the biggest problem with War Thunder, and the reason that so many vehicles and vehicle types feel useless, is that there's so little to do, and so little dynamism to every match. Basically every single mode (excepting enduring confrontation, which doesn't see much play) has two sides that just spawn, mash W, and smash into each other. Maps are nearly all basically symmetric and objectives are always symmetric. The spawn point system (and easy powerful CAS) makes the game super prone to snowballing, so whichever team happens to win the initial brawl tends to win the match and often ends up spawncamping. Adopting asymmetrical game modes could shake that up. Let one side be on the defensive, while the other side attacks positions in a coordinated way, such as needing to sequentially capture areas (see Unreal Tournament 2004, Battlefield series). Hell, let players vote on the way they want to progress the match -- "Attack the D point!". Make heavy tanks relevant by making them way better at capturing points -- or preventing them from being captured. Maybe light vehicles can't capture points at all, or are at least 10x slower, and they gain less SP and rewards for that. Make the scouting mechanic less cheap: rather than pressing V and instantly getting a scout marker, make it take some time -- and more time spent scouting a target gives more details (e.g. "tank!", then "IS-2!", then "we can't pen him from here!"). Integrate CAS into the mission type, objectives taken, and scenario being played out. Reduce the temptation to revenge bomb by making CAS spawn on the ground or far out / high alt for strategic bombers, and organize CAS spawns into waves -- providing the other team time to "bring up" their AA support vehicles. Then, replace the BR system with an era-based spawn cost system. So if you want to spawn an IS-2 in 1944 at Kursk, then that's going to cost you -- but spawning an IS-2 in 1958 at the Chosin Reservoir won't be nearly so expensive. And if you want the fancy premium versions, you'll have to unlock them _and_ pay more to bring them into battle. That should cut down on spamming only the best vehicles, like the whole teams of KV-2Cs that just wipe whole matches. Plus, rare or single-instance vehicles (IS-2 No. 321) can only be spawned once in a match (duh). Finally, because the scenarios could be designed to match real-world or alternate-history battles, we can avoid my biggest pet peeve: facing "Chinese" versions of my own vehicles that are way better than what I have, because they're +1BR higher. Even ignoring the RoC/PRoC divide, "China" can spawn M-18 hellcats starting in 1952, when they first got them (at high spawn costs), and can face American M-46, M-47, M-41, M-56 at the Chosin Reservoir. Ordnance, ammunition types, missiles available etc -- all could be gated by the same era/spawn cost system. Give (partial) spawn cost refunds for taking your vehicle out of the combat zone intact (e.g. go land your CAS plane instead of headbutting the dirt and you can regain half the spawn points you spent on the plane and any ordnance you land with). J out of your undamaged tank in the spawn zone to get back half its spawn cost and upgrade -- keeping in mind the spawn zone might move forward as the scenario progresses.
If you transcribe this into the forum/wtlive i would upvote the shit out of that post. Loved the ideas!😊 Specially loved that part amor regaining SP of you J-out on your spawn areas of your vehicle is mostly intact.
@@carlitosskater89 Please feel free to copy-paste this, transcribe it, or whatever else. I was never on the WT forums and I quit the game (probably permanently) when Russia invaded Ukraine. I still have a fondness for the game and still watch some of the content creators, so I'd enjoy watching more dynamic and thoughtful play through their videos.
True thing on that, I hate how some maps that had good flanking routes on the edges were little by little made off-limits reducing them to litteral brawl in rush middle knife-fight maps (two examples I got for this are Jungle and Karelia, where one good sniping spot near the top left spawn was completely made off-limits with timer, then completely blocked off when they redid the map
There will always be fast vehicles or glass cannons to kill armor but I always liked the BR system I'm just not sure 1.0 up and down is the right way anymore while also having everything so compressed and saturated in some places. Playing 6.7 and getting put at 7.7 is a death sentence, same with 5.7 and facing a whole team of Tiger 2's so on and so on till about 8.7 where most vehicles have APFSDS or HEAT and nothing but skill and knowledge matter anymore. Everyone has been saying similar for years now, in the end it comes down to Queue time and Money like always. How do you fix it? In opinion pull a slight Enlisted and add more bots to GRB, still have even players so 8v8 but add 2 bots to each side.
Have been saying this for ages, the other side of it is people wanting to play modern tanks probably don't want to grind through all the older tanks. It's win win.
Historical match making but with the ability to get boss tanks. Like a 5.7-6.0 match but with the ability to get a tiger 2 as a under boss and a maus as a over boss
I have been saying this since 2020…. How come my 1944 vehicle fights 1980 produced tracked guns, ifv…. Wtf where is the immersion. Fighting light vehicles in ww2 with apfsds wtf… or bmp’s with atgm’s…
because br is and always has been a flawed system to provide faster queues rather than an actual matchmaking experience especially when there is such varied vehicle performance within different brs "well it's based off win rates1!1!1!" and? that changes nothing, vehicles should be matched against each other based off their capabilities that is it plain and simple, if it isn't even possible for one side to win why match them together.
as a new player, i've wanted this for a while, i immediately went for the Swedish techtree (for obvious reasons) and my largest gripe (though not the only one) is the j21, absolutely horrible performance at it's current BR, but since Sweden is a smaller nation, less new players choose it and often what happens because of that is that mediocre tanks are placed at BR's they shouldn't be, because the majority of Swedish players are experienced/pros and buffer the tanks up because they do more well on average than a more evenly split player experience in a nation such as the US, sort of alienating them, i'm sure its a similar situation for Israel
Phirst of all, welcome back!
We're always happy to receive detailed and constructed pheedback, especially from a veteran player. We'll look into your ideas and might include some of them as a time-limited event to test it out. Our top priority is to keep the majority of players happy.
U gonna say that but it will not happen
We’d hope so
Hopefully you will try to make these changes as it will bring a huge amount of old players back and it will just improve the game in general where players can use things like the tiger 2 is2 M26 T29 ect without fighting heat shells or sabot rounds every match.

This needs to happen as well. But I think too much $$$ in those high tier prems. @@WeBeStronk Yeah but the issue is Gaijin would be losing money if they did that, thats why they sell premiums so then you can speedrun your way to top tier. I wish it was the way Odd said but I highly doubt Gaijin will ever do this.

Brs need to be spread out, sounds crazy, but perhaps even to 15.0
Modes and maps and their objectives need to make geographical and tactically progressive sense.
Vehicles from other nations should not be in other tech trees. This just ends up with a homogeneous boring "balanced" mess. The point of different nations is to present what they have, not to make all the nations competitive on the same level.
They could split the ground tree into two like the navy but not have them fight each other.

A proper ww2 mode as you say would be near impossible. With Germany only having like a single king tiger per team, with a few panzer 4s, maybe a panther or tiger here and there. While allied team would be able to have dozens of t34s or Sherman's. A proper ww2 mode would never work, as the axis team would always be at a disadvantage. Same here. for me its like why play something new that everyone knows when I can see what beasts our grandfathers used to operate and put my self in his position using his old machine
The game is also fundamentally designed for Korean-War and older vehicles, The objectives and maps simply make no sense with modern vehicles, and the game plays very poorly, with fast vehicles circling around the map like its call of duty, only limited by artificial map boundaries
I am the opposite, I think it would’ve been better if they made two seperate games, one for interwar and WWII, and one for Cold War and modern day.
Some of my suggestions would probably be,
- improving the Volumetric mechanic (it still suck ass sometimes)
- reducing the research points cost of all modifications especially for high tiers and top tiers
- bringing back the Enduring Air RB and ground RB also
- having a WWM event with vehicle rewards would be good
- AND ANY NEW GAMEMODE IS ALWAYS BETTER, GAIJIN !!! (WHERE IS THE D POINT??)
WHETHER IT'S FOR GROUND AIR OR EVEN NAVAL, BE CREATIVE !!
Round mantlets suck ass all the time, just eating shell like mg bullets, like panter, m36 and t34 and the rest
what is enduring air RB and ground RB?
@@StarWarsExpert_ long bygone game mode when Gaijin still have some creativity outside April fool's. Basically :
- Enduring Air RB is just like air SB but with RB mechanic and you win by completing it's many objectives to reduce enemy point to zero

Both have unlimited spawn, and it doesn't need back up to spawn another one. You just need to pay the repair cost of that particular vehicle.
At some occasion there's just the naval version of it as right now

6.7 uptiers to 7.7 feel like the worst thing in the world until you play 7.7, and get an uptier to 8.7. Most 7.7 tanks are built on similar ideas to 6.7 tanks, but better. But 8.7 tanks aren't even connected to 7.7 tanks. 8.7 vehicles are a whole different thing that most 7.7 tanks cannot do anything about.

Any bomber in WT: am I a joke to you?
Bombers got nerfed into the dirt, their gunners were made useless, their structural integrity is that of wet tissue paper where a single 7.7mm bullet will rip both it's wings and tail off (that's barely even hyperbole)
I have just for fun with a maxed crew tested how long it would take for gunners to aim, track and fire at a fighter near point blank flying a straight line
Let's just say the AI is so incapable that making their fire purely cosmetic would likely lead to most players not even noticing
@@commisaryarreck3974 AI only start firing at around 600m - which make them entirely useless. It’s a mystery to me why Gaijin even allows to spend points into some gunners skills like accuracy. It’s effectively a waste of points.

And maybe only two planes up per team so half of your team isn’t in aircraft not helping you on the ground cap points

+1 for WW2 mode - they can make it an opt-in checkbox, like they're doing for night battles now.
You'd get 1 in gazillion ww2 battles then, like we get night battles once every 34 million years

i am ALL for this.
Please planes are hardly an issue pre-jet
Cas needs to be nerfed but heavy tanks are fine as is, they are even really good in certain circumstances. If you are constantly dying to light vehicles its a skill issue

I'm heavily biased since i still have PTSD from the old RP-3 era (remember, when a the SPLASH could kill tigers and panthers.
Ive noticed plenty in the community get pretty toxic when you call out stuff like that, it's mostly the players who enjoy bullying low tire players with their modern tanks an planes so when people say ww2 an modern shouldn't mix it pisses them off
I mean as much as I agree that the BR system is terrible especially in it's current state. If you think something like the KT is underpowered that actually is a skill issue. I think seperating different "ages" or whatever would be more fun. But I have a feeling you said more than just that.

Reforming the War Thunder Tech Tree and Matchmaking:
My proposal on how to enhance the War Thunder experience by restructuring the tech tree and refining matchmaking for better historical accuracy and player enjoyment. This new structure categorizes vehicles by historical alliances and eras, plus, ensures balanced matchmaking within these categories.
Let's make an overview regarding of what we are facing... our... 3 Current Challenges:
Axis Powers:
Germany
Japan
Italy
Other minor Axis countries
Allied Powers:
United States
United Kingdom
Soviet Union
France
China
Other minor Allied countries
Note:
We put vehicles to their perspective BR and limit the category to ww2 ONLY tanks, when searching for game it will only put players versus WW2 vehicles.
Now, the order in category, has to be Alliance locked too. Sorry but no Israel in this lobby etc. You get the point.
2. Cold War Era structure and matchmaking lobby.
NATO:
United States
United Kingdom
France
West Germany
Italy
Canada
Other NATO members
Warsaw Pact:
Soviet Union
East Germany
Poland
Czechoslovakia
Hungary
Other Warsaw Pact members
Non-Aligned and Other Countries:
Sweden
Switzerland
Israel
Other relevant countries used in game.
Note:
Here we need to be more specific on what country is the vehicle we use, we don't need to put ICONS before the vehicle to let players know its an enemy or what country it belongs to.
So instead of being lazy lets be thorough, organized, and accurate we don't put F15C here.. and certainly not putting 120B or A here.... you get that point I believe.
3. Modern Era lobby similar to what we have now.
Current Alliances and Major Military Powers:
NATO (Continuing from the Cold War era, with updates)
Russia (Post-Soviet Union)
China
India
Other major contemporary military powers via contents from upcoming upgrades and other development-active countries
Note:
That the structure and should be accessible by a browser like tab where it points you to the respective era and countries included in it.
Now lets see the match making a little bit.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Objective: To ensure fair and historically accurate battles by aligning matchmaking with the tech tree structure with the intention of making the game more immersive.
1. Era-Specific Matchmaking mentioned above.
World War II Vehicles:
Battle Ratings (BR) will be confined within the World War II category.
Example: A 7.7 BR tank from World War II will not face an 7.7, 8.0 or 9.0 BR tank from the Cold War era.
Cold War Vehicles:
Battle Ratings will be confined within the Cold War category.
Example: A 7.7 BR Cold War tank will be matched against other Cold War-era tanks, ensuring fairness and historical accuracy.
Modern Vehicles:
Matchmaking will reflect current military capabilities and alliances.
With that said, we reforming the tree will create many advantages and the Proposed Structure and Matchmaking such as the following will make matches more cohesive.
The Historical Context:
Players gain a deeper understanding of historical alliances and conflicts.
Ease of Navigation:
Simplifies the tech tree by grouping countries under recognizable alliances and having the distributed there (similar to what it is now but category specific), reducing the need to sift through extensive mixed lists.
Fair and Balanced Matches (halellllluuuujah):
Ensures that the players face opponents from the same era, leading to more balanced and enjoyable gameplay.
And last but not least.... Educational Value:
Provides a way clearer narrative of military technology evolution within the context of historical and geopolitical developments, making the game a way more educating/learing place with solid bases.
2. How to implement and Implementation Considerations
Inclusion Criteria: Carefully select countries and vehicles based on historical significance.
World War II:
Axis Powers (Germany, Japan, Italy, etc.)
Allied Powers (US, UK, USSR, etc.)
Cold War:
NATO (US, UK, France, West Germany, etc.)
Warsaw Pact (USSR, East Germany, Poland, etc.)
Post-Cold War:
Modern NATO
Russia
Other Major Powers (China, India, etc.)
And so on...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In short, this new War Thunder tech tree and matchmaking system intends and going to make everything so much easier to find and way more interesting by grouping vehicles based on historical alliances and eras.
I always thought an era based game vs a tier based system would be better. Time for companies to think out of the box
It's so annoying to get killed in a prop plane with some radar from half a map away
That happens to exactly 2 prop planes, and only in full uptiers.

STOP GETTING MY EXCITED
I feel like this is what I deal with in my Sherman Jumbo 75mm and I see Tiger II H, there's like nothing, absolutely nothing, I can do to the enemy unless I'm at point blank range and shooting it from the rear. Even then, you can't reliably shoot the ammo. The American 75mm is just broken above 6.0. Though it could be a fun mechanic, because sometimes being mostly helpless and having to run away is the gameplay - like back when the B2 BIS would terrorize low tier and nothing would pen it, that was the "boss battle". It was glorious fighting against it, you'd just have to keep immobilizing it until someone with a heavy cannon or bomb showed up.
yea gives me BF1 vibes "the enemy has been reinforced with a dreadnought"

Hey Phly welcome back :)
I've been playing WT since 2014 and it has helped me during some tough times, the ability to forget life's garbage and enjoy some time out playing was a relief.
I would love to have the fun I once had, now it feels like work (and that's at once a week), let those who like the modern vehicles have their fun with those who also like them, or perhaps it wouldn't be as much fun for them if they didn't have the WWII players to seal club on.
Especially for Jets and ground realistic around 7:0 or 8.0.
dude i know what you're saying. but I've lost so uch faith in the br system that this just needs to be a human balanced

When BR5.7 floods with HEAT vehicles, the BR system already broken.
Average heavy tank user when HEAT and HEAT-FS rounds existed during WWII:
Oh cry, counters exist to your shitty heavy tanks. Cope with it
I agree, one method of fixing this would be to have at tank's BR increased when modern HEAT/sabo and missiles are equipped, similar to how spawn points are increased with a particular weapon load out. This will allow players to throttle their gameplay experience to what is enjoyable to them without restricting what tanks/planes they can use. It would require a major overhaul but it would massively increase player satisfaction.
The "conventional times"... I was there, and it was great. 😥
Bro could fit the entire tech tree In his crew slots😂
The mobility also...compared to any other vehicles of is BR, crazy.
And I guess that was until you realised even .50 cal MGs can swiss cheese you?
@@broadside5994 It can't lmao what are you on, it's RHA 30mm on the sides and 50mm angled, and even if it could side pen what are you doing wrong to get .50 to the side of a highly agile TD with a strong HEATFS shell
@@givividivinci Well... that's what happenned when I faced them in tanks with .50 cals, I litterally managed to kill the rest of the crew after one main gun shot
Also "lmao what are you on", I'm perfectly fine and normal thank you
the problem you'll see is people tend to float to the top or "best" tanks.
People play lower tiers today so i dont understand your point. I like the tiger 1 and the panzer IV. So sometimes i play low tier.
Yeah, this would only mean early cold war becomes useless and dead, and same could be said for 5.7ish. Who would want to play a tiger 1 when a tiger 2 faces basically the same vehicles?

Historical accuracy is just more fun man, I totally agree with you
I dont think its that fun to face a maus in a jumbo 76
i got you phlydaily i will share this with all of the people i know
What they need to do is give some vehicles that NEED it, a preferential Battle rating, where it cant get a FULL uptier, only maybe 0.7 or 0.3 higher.
A tank only gamemode with no fucking cancer as shit CAS would be a godsend.
i think cas is needed to deal with campers in really good spots however i think u can fix it instead of removing it:
1. To spawn a plane u will need at least 700 sp like the drones in top tier. (can increase ofc depending on the weapons of choice on the plane)
2. ejecting from ur tank removes sp like around 100. Unless ur flipped over
3. Tank spawns are more spead out so its hard to predict where AA would be and would lessen spawn killing.
4. kill cam only showing the round going into ur tank and not where it came from / this is to lessen revenge killing
Unlimited protection on spawn area against bomb to eliminate free multi kill bs would be much more appreciated
I love the calling in the boss tanks idea like battlefield calliope call in
1000% but we could also call in other things is b-17 raid or imagine a maus is called onto the battlefield
holyyyy
I don't think stuff like the maus should be at that br because there are many tanks which can't penetrate it even from the side. More powerful "boss" tanks are a good idea but I don't think they should be pushed to the extreme@@PhlyDaily
The only problem i see is that some players would grind for tanks like the is-4 to have fun and if they are not as skilled as veteran players they would not get a chance to use the tank due to it costing too much sp to spawn which would lead to some players not wanting to grind certain tech-trees.
Hard cap WW2/ conventional play, I LOVE IT!!
maybe if this was a mode added instead of a change
I hate playing this game…. Having fun in my tank. Get 4-5 kills. Great game. Then a heli or jet kills me from 5000m away….
Day 395 : Phly out the Arsenal VG33 and D520 to show em a little baguette trick you learned
Loved the ideas!😊
Specially loved that part amor regaining SP of you J-out on your spawn areas of your vehicle is mostly intact.

No matter how much you decompress there will be pt76 and concept 3 for your armor
@@Knispel_Kurtthe PT76 is a subpar vehicle.
@@wallachia4797 its a great tank, but it is where it belongs
Getting slammed in my M103s face by Type 99s HE shell to get one shot sucks…
best way to fix War Thunder is to fire Gaijin 😅
Have been saying this for ages, the other side of it is people wanting to play modern tanks probably don't want to grind through all the older tanks. It's win win.
i agree we need something. i said years ago that i wanted to fight real-life scenarios like 5 shermans vs 1 tiger or something.
Historical match making but with the ability to get boss tanks. Like a 5.7-6.0 match but with the ability to get a tiger 2 as a under boss and a maus as a over boss
@@T34theAmericanheavyThat sounds so stupid.
@@natebox4550 my guy its almost exactly what phly recommended but making it br dependent
@@T34theAmericanheavy I disagree with him too, it’s a dumb idea.
@@natebox4550 that’s fair
There is a game like this. You just describe World of Tanks and you want to make WT to be WoT.
as a new player, i've wanted this for a while, i immediately went for the Swedish techtree (for obvious reasons) and my largest gripe (though not the only one) is the j21, absolutely horrible performance at it's current BR, but since Sweden is a smaller nation, less new players choose it and often what happens because of that is that mediocre tanks are placed at BR's they shouldn't be, because the majority of Swedish players are experienced/pros and buffer the tanks up because they do more well on average than a more evenly split player experience in a nation such as the US, sort of alienating them, i'm sure its a similar situation for Israel
Take away the prototype tanks that all of 1 were made. Lol
