Thanks for watching everyone! Also, just a quick correction, they add 450 new tracks each month... not 40 like I said in the video. Pretty crazy! Also to get that free month of the Pro Plan, you can use the link: jamzone.onelink.me/aiaO/scottuhl and that should automatically apply it. If not, use "SCOTTUHLMUSIC" as the code. Enjoy!
Just wanted to let you know this video changed my life. I'm 70 years old and playing guitar since I was 14. Now I'm singing a lot and traveling and looking for a place to play. Have never been able to find a band. And can't figure out how to do the backing tracks. This does it all. Best thing I've ever done. Channel subscribe and I love it. Thank you thank you thank you
i have a band at work. we all work remotely. we play a show each year of 11 songs. we have two days to rehearse together. to prepare, we use Jamzone to practice alone. when we come together we all have been practicing to the same structure. we run click during performance and show lyrics on monitors for vocalists. love this app
I started using Jamzone Pro a while ago and I wouldn't dream of switching back. Absolutely love it. But from your video I still learned some very useful things I didn't know. Congratulations on 100K subs!
Your presentation of this is nothing short of outstanding. Thank you! I was aware of JamZone from the FB group for Backing Track Users (where you also posted the video), but your way of demoing it made it clear to me that I really need to book a JamZone plan. One thing I wish it could do is keep the drums and percussion unchanged when tuning down or up by more than a couple half-steps (such as needed to play songs originally sung by a woman). The drums and percussion can sound pretty „off“ when tuned a lot. That said, I would simply try to limit my use of JamZone to mostly songs that only need to be key-shifted by 0 to 3 half-steps.
Thanks for your video! There is another great app for that called "Playback with metronome" which can play any number of tracks you want and also support lyrics, midi commands, multiple outputs audiointerfaces, basic EQ on every track, mixer and so on. Another cool feature is ability to connect two or more devices to play playback in sync through wireless connection. And no subscription!
Thanks for sharing, I’ll have to check it out. It looks very different from this app just by what it says in the App Store; but I’ll look into it more. Thanks!
Thanks Scott. I’ve had JamZone on my IPad. It was a while ago. I forgot it was so versatile. Thanks again for all your videos they are spot on and very practical
Thank you for reviewing JZ! I have been a Pro subscriber for a couple of years and it just keeps getting better. I actually learned some things by watching your video. I was not aware of the multi-tracking capabilities. I will dig into that further. One thing I will mention; if you are in a band, the screen display can be routed to HDMI and sent to multiple users, so that everyone sees the same thing. Additionally, songs not yet available can be requested. JZ has been very responsive to my requests. They are the best!
Excellent review. Detailed and explained in layman's terms. Agree fully with Scott's opinion that Jamzone is bloody great for individual performers. Have subscribed to Scott's page and will definitely be checking out other reviews and demos he has already done, and does in the future. Big thumbs up all round. Cheers.
Another great suggestion. Thank you Scott. I have been using Moises to help with teaching but it doesn’t really work for me at gigs. This looks much more versatile.
Thanks Scott! Jamzone works great! We’re a Frank Zappa cover band out of Detroit, and keeping it together is a bit hard as we pull in players from all over the US for gigs. And I thought that NOBODY would make FZ tracks! We’re currently revamping the whole show, to go out as a small OR large group! GREAT INFO (once again!)
Scott can you add a video of how a cover band might use this and how the screen could be mirrored for other band members using Airplay or possibly HDMI to a monitor so all band members can see the Jamzone screen?
Hello, many thanks for the video. Where can I see the song list? My interest is on Brazilian catalog (Brazilian Rock, Pop, Bossa Nova), or whether JamZone is for English songs only. Thanks!
Thanks Scott! I’m so glad you do these kinds of vids. I presented this to my band to determine if it’s a viable option for our situation. I’d be lost without your vids man, keep it going! Happy ass camper! 😂
The Zoom Livetrack L-20 is a 20 track mixer with 6 headphone outs built into the mixer. You can send any tracks to each headphone out as a separate mix. It will read and write any tracks from the built in SD card reader but they have to be in wav format. It also has a feature that lets you record your vocal cues without a mic to a track, which can then be sent to all the headphones out but not the front of house for instance. It also has built in effects, reverbs, etc and of course quality mic preamps. It will save all your settings and mixes per song, so when you load up a song you've already mixed, it will load up exactly as you left it. You can also lock each song so that you don't accidently mess up the mix. BUT it is still a little pricey. You can find them used for about 5 to 6 hundred bucks.
Great vid , great product. Only downfall for me is the monthly subscription. Karaoke version is a better fit for myself for only use a handful of tracks for my show. But definitely will put it in my book if it’s something I’d like to revisit. Thanks and keep the vids coming !!
Have you tried Moises? You can do any song you like and take out the instrument of your choice. Great for practice. I used to use KV but don’t need it now.
i use both. it takes some effort to get karaoke tracks into stage traxx. i add a cues track and record lyrics to drive lights. wish st3 supported a midi track
Hi S, solo player using J.Z. Full time. Some other things they can do is , increase the clock size , I take some of my cues from the time code. , and also, add pedal remote to a certain track to turn off and on, to add and remove an instrument to solo. Great review.
Thanks Scott for all you put together in here, I'm a follower of the channel from some time ago. I have a doubt since we are starting to rehearse again with my band, and we'll probably have some festivals coming. What is the dynamic of people/setup when setting up backing tracks/IEM in cases like that, when you share stage with many other bands?
Thanks for following the channel! And always communicate ahead of time what your setup is. We have our system down now where we can do a changeover and be setup in like 10 minutes. And if you go over, make sure you still stop when you are scheduled to stop 👍
Hey mate.. thanks for this. How can you control the speed of the shadow that covers the songs progression as you go along. I was wanting to slow it down a bit so that it hits the chord change at the right time. In The House of the Rising Sun it's a bit faster than the changes. Thanks
I see this as being a bigger selling point for solo/duo artists to provide a larger sound and is growing in demand in my areas. I'm just getting into that market coming from small cover-band projects. Am definitely bookmarking this to check out with my singer! Cheers!
@ ima going to give the Airstep a try. Jamzone is hands down the easiest most flexible option out there. It has limitations compared to the others but for me the “looping sections” puts it over the top.
My honest advice is to get an iPad. I know people hate that, but if you are just playing audio files, that’s fine… but for more advanced stuff, IPad truly is the way to go. Having said that, maybe BandHelper
Any chance you can add affiliate links to the cables and boxes you are using in the Audio Routing section (at 11:27)? Thanks for all of your helpful videos!
I wish there was some way to link 2 ipads together so that the sax player and the guitar player could each be using their own ipad. I have been using Jamzone for a couple of months and I really like it. Good review , by the way. 👍
@valleygentlemen2722 Question please. I have the Premium version (not the Pro). Can you tell me where to activate the "Offline Mode" that stated in the plans is available for Premium and Pro?
I’m an older rock, blues, and r&b singer. Can anyone tell me what is the simplest app or device to get for a vocalist that turns down vocals and can loop, and change keys without slowing down. (to practice songs) Thank you in advance!
Hey Scott, I have a quick question. If I’m playing as a solo performer doing acoustic/lead guitar, is there a way to have blue tooth earbuds with just the lead vocals? And then also a foot switch to switch that track from my ears to the front on the house so I can sing harmony to the tracks lead vocal? Thanks Joe
No, Bluetooth will have too much latency: ruclips.net/video/rKyAxbUBkis/видео.htmlsi=lmY5dsCD_PZngk_y You would want to have in ear monitors for that, and you could route just the lead vocals to your in ears
A Cool feature to add would be the ability to have 4 lines to display instead of 2, expecially if you minimise the mixer. I use a 13in iPad, so 6 or 8 lines would be handy. A friend suggested the lyrics could be increased in size (like you can in Bandhelper etc)
Your content is great! I have definitely learned a lot from you and having a great time putting it to use. Would love to hear what you think about Maestro DMX and how it can be used in general and with Stage Traxx.
@@ScottUhlMusic Can’t wait to see your review. Hope you have time for a deep dive! From what I’ve seen it’s looks like a great tool with a lot of impact for musicians who want to do things on their own. 🙏🏻
As far as guitar tones, would we just use our amp sims/vst's along with this? I have my track specific guitar tones from Neural DSP/etc so I would love to use those with this.
Learning a lot from your videos man. Love them!! I was looking through the comments and I hope I’m not asking a repeat question here… can you upload your own songs? Was thinking on a way to do covers and original stuff while using this. Thanks man.
Hi there! You have a loop section in Jamzone to loop the specific part of the track you want to practice. You can also slowdown the bpm to make it easier. More infos on our blog or on our RUclips channel :)
Great video. I use Stage Traxx 3. It seems very similar, but less labor intensive. I think it is a bit expensive. Any thoughts? I also like ST3 MIDI capability to embed codes in lyrics.
@ScottUhlMusic Thanks for your input. Maybe both are good to use...the free version of JZ to learn, and have as a backup, and ST3 for the main giggig app. I use Ultimate guitar, and Karaoke version and Band in a box for source music/lyrics tracks. It is a bit time-consuming, but then you have it forever!
This summer I played a short time with a cover band and they used this. I didn’t like that some songs had a four count. Drummer had the click in his ears and it isn’t enough time to start. Singer/bass would push play and then drummer wouldn’t be able to get but 2 or 3 hat hits to start. Other songs would have slight breaks where I saw the metronome time shift up and down. Check out the end of Prince “Let’s Go Crazy” and I defy a band to get back in sync to play the ending. There’s some great things about the app but in my experience the weaknesses make it really hard to use as a full band.
I do wish you could set the count in, I agree. And let’s go crazy is nuts! I made my own click for that outro. But that song wasn’t recorded to a click, so it’s definitely not easy to make to a click, that’s for sure. Thanks for the feedback and comment 👍
Not sure if I missed it, but I play a half step down but my tab shows/reads standard chords. Not sure if the app can show/read standard chords with the music being a half step down? Thank you for your time & all your content. :)
Scott you showed the main screen with Back arrow and Forward arrow to advance to the next song ,or go to the previous song. I only see the back arrow that rewinds the song I’m on .I don’t see any Forward arrow on my version. Is this a Pro version thing?
This is cool! I am wondering if you know of an app that allows you to upload your own multitrack recordings? I would love to have the features of detailing different instruments and mixing them and such but my own arrangements.
I have the free Trial download on my desktop I want to go for the Pro. If I download this to my Desktop is there a way to use it on my min iPad the iPad is what I will be taking with me to do gigs with.
Thank you for your very informative video about jam zone, However will it play general mini files and if not do you know of an app that just plays general midi files as backing tracks thank you very much.
Hi Scott! Thanks for the introduction to jamzone... pretty cool app...Just quick question, mate, after I download the stem backing tracks to my device do I need to be constantly logged im to the Internet to use the App?
I’d been wondering about Jamzone. Is there any bridge ti also have DMX lighting cues and instrument pedal effects settings? Trying to find an easy, but robust backing track setup. I might be asking for too much.
Hi Scott from Athens Greece! Just saw the video, incredible video and app!! I play alone with pre-recorded tracks by myself to an RC-600, having a gtr synth, a multi efx and a drum pad. Greek and foreign classic rock mostly! I saw in the comments that the app doesn't allow to load your stems. So, is it possible to find somewhere a song list? I understand that this might sound strange but it's critical for me!! Thanks a lot, keep up the good work!! I have allready subscribed!!
Thanks for the sub! And you cannot import your own backing tracks into this. But you can download the app for free and go to “explore” to see what they have 🤘
Thought I'll have a look and it already was installed on my tablet. Well, if I only knew there were some gigs in the near future, I'd consider buying it. I'm in the preparing mode. But it's not intended to work with your own content. Too expensive for just playing around and the free version is not usable. But here's my feature suggestion anyway: I'd like to see a mixer recording track, where you can define your own arrangement. Your first verse consists of kick, hi hat and bass only, and as the song plays, more and more instruments are added by the mixer that plays the automated mix.
Looks cool. I will try it. Do you know if the app can sync with other iPads running Jamzone? Maybe wired together via usb? For instance, let's say your band is learning a song and each person has their own ipad. One guitar is playing standard tuning but the other guitar is using a capo (or different tuning) and wants to see those different chords scrolling and maybe the keyboard wants to transpose as well for easier chords. It would certainly be more sales for them.
Scott, is there a way to share a screen with various bandmates? For example, if I’m controlling the main Ipad, can the singer see a separate Ipad screen showing the lyrics? The video was very well done
@@ScottUhlMusic AAAHHHH...I watched your video and LOVE the idea for my acoustic trio, but I can't figure out how to sync if we're all needing chord charts/lyrics.
After you mix you song, do you have the file and are you able to drop into a program like logic, to make medleys of a few mixed songs/files? Some don't play the entirety of songs and prefer to make medleys.
Hi there, Each song is available in the app. You can record and download your performances, and any modifications to the songs are made directly within the app.

Scott, great video, thank you! I don't have a PA system. Can I run the tracks to a second guitar amplifier? If yes, do I still need a DI Box? Thanks.
Thanks! And that will make the tracks sound a little weird to go into an amp that is meant for guitar, unless the amp specifically has an aux input.
@@ScottUhlMusic Thanks for the fast reply. Luckily my second amp has an AUX input. 😀
That’s awesome. Looks like so much more options than STrx3.
ST3 doesn’t have tracks specifically, you have to make them and organize them, so they are different apps 👍
Hi Jerry! If you never tried Jamzone, feel free to use Scott's code for a 1-month free trial of the Pro! The best way to discover the app :)
Great that it supports Smartphones, as well as ios. I generally use an ipad, but glad I can use it on my flip.

Hi S, solo player using J.Z. Full time. Some other things they can do is , increase the clock size , I take some of my cues from the time code. , and also, add pedal remote to a certain track to turn off and on, to add and remove an instrument to solo. Great review.

Well organised software and good video thanks! Does this app allow you to load in your own stems\tracks?
Thanks! And no it doesn’t
Not a fan of subcription based products but this has some cool ideas
So regarding the input and record functions. If I understand your explanation, I should be able to record a CUE track and save it all?
I don’t believe so…. I think you can just record it, but not add it to the song
Once you’ve created your set lists with your adjustments in each song, are you able to use the app without an internet connection?
Yup 👍 as long as your downloaded the tracks
Totally :)
Great in depth video. Make sore you watch it to the end. I saw the MP3 import option. It will be interesting to see how well that works.
Thanks! I haven’t seen the mp3 import option, so I’m curious on that as well
Maybe it's only 1 track or splits like moises?
there's not yet own mp3 import, but working on it!
Excellent!
Is there a global tuning switch like everything Eb? Thank you love your channel.
You can set your guitar tuning and it adjusts the chords 👍
@ScottUhlMusic Thanks but I mean can you set it so that it drops every song down a half step Global or do you have to do that on a per song basis

No, it’s available for android as well
As far as guitar tones, would we just use our amp sims/vst's along with this? I have my track specific guitar tones from Neural DSP/etc so I would love to use those with this.
Yeah, you would use your own amp modeler with this 👍
Thank you 🙏
Learning a lot from your videos man. Love them!! I was looking through the comments and I hope I’m not asking a repeat question here… can you upload your own songs? Was thinking on a way to do covers and original stuff while using this. Thanks man.
Hi there! At the moment, this option is not available
Impressive set of features. Do you think it's accurate enough to be an effective way to "learning" the different parts of a tune?
Definitely!
Hi there! You have a loop section in Jamzone to loop the specific part of the track you want to practice. You can also slowdown the bpm to make it easier. More infos on our blog or on our RUclips channel :)
Hi do you have any advice to send audio via USB to a quad cortex?
If it accepts audio over usb (like the helix), it should be pretty easy to attach the correct cables. But I’m not familiar with the QC
Great video. I use Stage Traxx 3. It seems very similar, but less labor intensive. I think it is a bit expensive. Any thoughts? I also like ST3 MIDI capability to embed codes in lyrics.
Yeah this is if you don’t want to do all the work of making custom tracks/charts yourself. And it doesn’t have a way to do midi out in JZ
I would get this app just for those fill in gigs where the singer changes the keys so I can learn a tune in that KEY
Thank you for this video, I was wondering if there was a place to find the list of songs available?
Yeah you can see it under the explorer tab 👍
Hi there! you can see the list of songs directly in the app. If you don't have Jamzone, catalog is the same as Karaoke version :)
It does have a transpose feature to change the key of the song 👍 just have to make sure it’s correct based on how you set the tuning
Hi Lisa, with Jamzone, you can choose how you want to play a song, and the sheet music that appears in the app will be based on your preferences :)
Scott you showed the main screen with Back arrow and Forward arrow to advance to the next song ,or go to the previous song.
I only see the back arrow that rewinds the song I’m on .I don’t see any Forward arrow on my version.
Is this a Pro version thing?
It’s for when you are in a playlist 👍
Hi Scott, what you do when you are playing where is no internet connections? Or very bad conections? Waiting til it buffers? :-)
That’s why you download the tracks you plan to use live 👍 I mention that as one of the first things to do
@ I fall a sleep twice while I watch. :-) thanks
This is cool! I am wondering if you know of an app that allows you to upload your own multitrack recordings? I would love to have the features of detailing different instruments and mixing them and such but my own arrangements.
Yup, Stage Traxx 3 and MultiTracker. I’ve reviewed both on my channel 👍
@@ScottUhlMusic I will check these out!
And you recommend Mixing Station over the behringer xair app mixer with an Xair 18?
Absolutely!
It doesn’t do midi, but look into stage Traxx 3 or MultiTracker. I have videos on both and they output midi 👍
Hi Scott! Thanks for the introduction to jamzone... pretty cool app...Just quick question, mate, after I download the stem backing tracks to my device do I need to be constantly logged im to the Internet to use the App?
Thanks! And you should stay logged in, but if you download the tracks like the show at the beginning, you won’t need internet 👍
Cheers Scott
I’d been wondering about Jamzone.
Is there any bridge ti also have DMX lighting cues and instrument pedal effects settings?
Trying to find an easy, but robust backing track setup. I might be asking for too much.
No, this app won’t do that. I would imagine they would eventually have midi out before they ever do DMX out.
How about sending midi to external devices like the HX Stomp, as in StageTraxx?
JamZone doesn’t currently have that unfortunately
But here's my feature suggestion anyway:
I'd like to see a mixer recording track, where you can define your own arrangement. Your first verse consists of kick, hi hat and bass only, and as the song plays, more and more instruments are added by the mixer that plays the automated mix.
Yeah if you want to import your own tracks, look into stage Traxx which I’ve also reviewed 👍
@@ScottUhlMusicalready tried to find it on google play but seems to be an apple app?
Thank you.
I didn’t see an option for that when I was going over it, so I don’t believe so
Hi there, this option is not available at the moment. Howewer, you can use an external screen via HDMI. more infos about it on our blog :)
Scott, is there a way to share a screen with various bandmates? For example, if I’m controlling the main Ipad, can the singer see a separate Ipad screen showing the lyrics? The video was very well done
No, I wish it had that. That would be great if they add that!
@@ScottUhlMusic AAAHHHH...I watched your video and LOVE the idea for my acoustic trio, but I can't figure out how to sync if we're all needing chord charts/lyrics.
Very cool!
After you mix you song, do you have the file and are you able to drop into a program like logic, to make medleys of a few mixed songs/files? Some don't play the entirety of songs and prefer to make medleys.
No, you can’t do that. It’s all saved on the app
Hi there, Each song is available in the app. You can record and download your performances, and any modifications to the songs are made directly within the app.
Great video and app! But Scott, is it possible to upload your own stems to the app?
Thanks! And no, not on this app. Look into Stage Traxx 3 or MultiTracker (I’ve reviewed both)
@@ScottUhlMusic Thanks Scott!
