- Our Traxxas Maxx RC Monster Truck overhaul is under way. This project series on the Maxx is featuring just parts available from the Traxxas option line-up. Among the many parts they offer is a steering adapter bracket to use standard size servos in the Maxx. This is perfect for those who like using a certain standard size servo in their RC machines. We’ll be showing you how to install a Traxxas 400 servo into the truck. This servo has lots of torque and metal gears. We’ve had great success with this servo and think it will perform well in the Maxx. You’ll also need a new servo horn for this steering servo swap. In this video we go over the details you need to know for the install.

I waited a whole week for this build
@Randall Wesson Yea, I have been using instaflixxer for months myself :)
Just to make clear the TSM should be off when centering the servo. Great video as always and I really like this type of series. Keep the good job Greg.
I LOVE those projekts!
Hot Racing TUDR48SH25. Have to use the stock link for proper throw both directions but gives you a metal horn.
I'd rather have a plastic horn. A metal horn will just break the servo eventually.
Love your Videos. Would Like to hear more from the Trx4 Sport and E-Revo2( cause i hot Them). But i will Look all Videos you got about them.
I thought I was the only one to use those servos boxes as parts trays.
I've got one full of body clips and wheel nuts for out and about.
This is a very clear and good video
Thanks for doing this
dont forget to dremel a little bit out of the top front brace . it will rub when u use a revo horn
I tried to fit mine today. The servo horns in your parts list didn’t fit easily. I’m not sure it’s the right part. Will see how it lasts.
The servo isn’t as snug as the old one and seems to have some movement. Seems to be working okay.
During my test drive, I stripped my spur gear, now I have to wait for a replacement. I blew a tire the other day and couldn’t find exact matches, so went with some backflips, this might have added some stress on the spur. Slowly replacing all of the components.
I definitely do love these build series. Is it possible that once this pandemic is over, you can do a racing buggy series?
It’s possible, but my local tracks are pretty far away. So we’ll have to see how it goes. Thanks for the suggestion!
RCDriver_Online any videos driving it with the servo??
I have that servo in my UDR
Great video. Wish someone would do a TQi video showing us all the things we can do with this radio. Like how to control TSM with the multifunction knob. 👍👍
Hey Pete did u ever find out how to do that1 I want to control brake with that dial too🤔
@@gonzodetroitify no. I don’t use TQI radios anymore.
how does one set the servo limiter on the traxxas controller?
Do i need that horn or can i use stock with the 2255 servo
Greg that is awesome
the servo horn you recommend in the link indicates on Traxxas that these are for non-Traxxas servos. Is this the one you recommend?
They do not fit as a FYI.
Looking good m8
Nice simple swap, great job man. We all like your content
Thank you! Means a lot! 👍
RCDriver_Online can I put any size servo that fits inside the case? For example a savox 1211
@@rcdriver can use the Traxxas 5345R servo horns? Look the same.
This servo works fantastic in the Maxx, however I recently put one in my e Revo to replace the two stock one's n I'm not that impressed with it. Think I might buy a proteck servo or a savox for it instead
Well done with good details. Nice idea for the parts boxes but I was wanting to see the new mat being used as you said it has built in spots for parts and screws. You could see the screws very easy in the contrasting white bottomed box but I was wondering how easy they could be found on the all black mat. I would think that molding the partitions in other bright Traxxas colors would make finding the small parts and screws easier to find. Is this why you didn't use the mat as you stated it was for? Stay safe and thanks for the informative video
The hexagon indents are great spots to help sort screws as you work on your rig. They’re not too difficult to identify. My mind tends to focus on the storyline during a video shoot, so sometimes things get tossed around rather than always being tidy.
Why does it need to be replace just curios new to channel
hello, im new to rc cars, im thinking about buying a nitro, but not sure what to get and from where, i want something fast, loud and strong, with a budget of around 600-700 aud, i also like the buggy shape, not really trucks like this, do you have any recomendations?
Hi, how do you set your endpoints if you do not have the Traxxas Link module ??? Thanks
Look in you’re manual, or online manual, go to traxxas.com go to whatever vehicle, they’re mostly all the same method, go to support, manual, look for menu tree. It’s pretty easy
@@AverageRCBasher They do not mention how to set your endpoints without the traxxas link sry ... It's not that easy with a traxxas remote and receiver believe me. Easy with my spektrum, not easy with traxxas ..
Claude page 37, they’re all the same. traxxas.com/sites/default/files/68077-4-OM-EN-R04.pdf
Is this a good option for the xmaxx as well I'm not a fan of the 2085x I was thinking about getting the adapter and some sort of high torque servo
So I just picked up a maxx for my son for Christmas and both of us are new to RC. What’s the point of replacing the servo?
Can you do one on a traxxas emaxx?
I purchased the exact parts and none of the horns in the 5345x kit will fit the servo
Same here none of those horns fit my servo.. have you figured out which ones are the right servo horn?
Needs a 25 tooth I believe.
@@refiryan Any updates on this? I am in the same predicament. In need of a servo horn that will fit
Get a 25 tooth and it should work
Do you have a drive shaft for a volcano epx
I have a question. The Maxx can run on 4S correct? So is that 2, 2S packs put in series or is does it use an actual 4S pack? I'm thinking about getting a Maxx but I want to get batteries that I can run in my other Traxxas trucks.
One 4s battery.
Im a noob and a half and must have missed something. Why swap for the smaller servo?
de4ek its better
Nolacross70 oh well then. That explains a lot.
Do you think the high torque servo is necessary? Doesn’t it come with a monster servo?
The stock servo has worked well in the truck. It does however have plastic gears. If something happens to it, that’s when I would suggest looking at option servos.
@@rcdriver Goodmorning, how often do you clean your rc's?
IT'S ME Kind of depends on the RC and where it was run or how long. Typically I blow off the cars with an air compressor after each use. If it went in water or mud it typically gets cleaned right after unless I know I’m going out to run it again very soon.
The traxxas 5345x servo horn in your description does NOT fit on the 2255 servo. WTF I ordered all that and it doesn’t fit. That servo horn you literally have to jam onto the servo and it still doesn’t fit right.
Can you eventually swap the esc and motor put of the udr?
Can you please do an upgrade series on the baja rey? Love your vids btw😁
Be careful with this video I upgraded with a savox brushless servo used the same servo cage, revo horn and had to grind the top support bracket because it hit when I turned left.
Thanks cause I was just about to purchase a savox for it along with those same parts
Hello love your vids could you possibly do a giveaway
Bim-AppleJuice I have a few feelers out for another giveaway.
Wait that is their 100$ servo bruh i csn get the same speed and torque with a 30-40$ servo and torque doesnt mean much on a basher because of the servo saver you can say your servo pulls 40kg but the servo gives at 20kg
There's a difference between $100 rebuild able and serviceable servo VS something cheap. One's got a warranty and the other doesn't.
@@RobertNES816 There is also a difference between a $100 traxxas servo and a $100 servo from a brand that actually specialize in servos like Hitec or savox.
😍😍😍👍🔥🔥🔥🔥
those traxxas a#$holes put that crappy servo in this expensive truck!!! even the 2085x is crap, do not waste your money. im switching to arrma
Dude I’ve change 2 times 2085x and after 3 run it died
More FREE parts for you to sell to others!!! Gay gay gay....
Why not call Traxxas and have them send you a new one vs spending money in a recession
