- that time of year again go through the combine and just give it a good look over and try and do as much preventative maintenance as you can so during the season you have as little down time as possible
kind of nice with the parts combine out there that anything I need I've already got on hand
You can certainly fix the broken CAN wires. The best method is to solder or ultrasonic weld them together and use a bit of heat shrink to seal the fix. If not that, heat shrink butt splices are a good substitute. At my job, we actually build harnessing for new vehicles using these methods (I design them). The key thing is to keep the original twist rate to help with electrical noise immunity (we usually design them with 5-10 twists/inch). Good luck with the repairs!
Good to know thank you
Looks like a home run to me
A parts combine is awesome to have with there being so many components to a combine. I have a 9610 with a 9600 for parts. Had the motor sold out of it one day after listing it.
Spare equipment for parts can be a life saver! We got 2 spare combines for parts for the same reason!
Definitely nice to have a Part's machine! Good luck with harvest Jon!
Thanks.
It makes me feel better knowing that if the engine throws a rod I have one, no matter the breakdown I can get going
Some days I just can't think of a good comment so I'll just say nice combine video.
I couldn’t tell if you were excited or not 😆. Our farm has been running a 570R for a few years now. Still getting familiar with operation and repair. Some days I wish it was just a larger 9600.
I figured you would run it old school open station without the cab . 😁
Sounds like a great investment given what things cost and parts availability now . Ya done good Jon ! 👍
Those new Bluetooth windows and controls are awesome. Those tracks will be great for dealing with all the mud you have. For the price of those 2 combines you could have a bought twice the combine in a new gleaner.
I remember when the feeder house was part of the head. I heard Irish spring bar of soap keeps mice away I waiting to try that this winter
pretty slick deal there with that parts combine! cant wait to see yours on tracks!
Wow Jon, you hit the winning ticket on the parts combine! Wish I could could luck out like that! Good luck with harvest.
Thanks! Hope you have a good harvest!
Looks like a great find there Jon. 👍
A potential solution for the mice problems: a few drops of mint or peppermint essential oil in the areas they hang out or you want to keep them out. Apparently it works very well so I've put it out and about, but results TBD. Mice go after the wires to get the soybean oil used in the wire coating, add grain dust to the leaching oil and it's all quite a feast. Mothballs work too, but are themselves corrosive. If mint itself were not so invasive of a plant, it might be a useful end of season job to run the equipment over a small patch of it protectively coat the whole insides of combines etc.
Never knew about the oil in wire coating.
In the fall I use mouse magic and dryer sheets, works good, now with small grains they are getting to the combine when I am not ready
Shame it burt, but hey, where else can you find a parts machine like that
I love your accent. Not sure if you exaggerate it or not but keep it.
You can never have too many spare parts
It is field ready. Just park it in the field.
Combine season Nope lexion season
Just don't break your left armrest, you'll still have to go to the dealer for that
I would be willing to dispose of those combine tires for you! They would be going to a good cattle farm in Minnesota
You need some junk tires, I might have a few laying around
Looking for some used 18.4-38 for my 105 white, it my big tractor and the tires are pretty bad
Combine would be 20.8x42
NTS tire might have some?!
They have a lot of tires but I haven't had much luck negotiating them
Worried for a second seeing that burnt combine, but then it dawned on me you didn't have a clickbaity video title...
You're slacking!
I've seen beans do that too. Damp weather, ripe beans swell and the pod itself dries out too quickly it just bursts. Sometimes if conditions are just right you can hear it happening in a field.
Ha!
Once you have tracks, you'll never go back. Next thing for you is a track tractor...
I was pretty young when John Deere came out with the 8,000 T Series and we demoed the first one I stayed afterwards and finished the guys field just because it was so fun to drive. I always thought an mt765 would be a nice tractor to have on the farm but now I don't know what I would do with it
@@jonstevensmaplegrovefarms3754 MT for field work, Massey as dedicated cattle support tractor. It's easy to spend other people's money!
Just got a 765c this spring and dam is it a nice tractor. I would drive that over the 305 every time.
@@matthewanderson8231 305 magnum?!
Yeah the MT puts the power to the ground!
May be easier to pull the parts off your combine to repair the fire damaged parts and run that one.
I debated that. I would need the cab the whole fuse Bay computer panel area and the chassis harness. The only reason I am doing it this way is because I can do it a little at a time and keep going versus a cab swap you are fully committed until it's done
Any chance you still have the very back cover? The one that covers the rotor gearboxes that says "Cat"
The big door, yep its here.
@@jonstevensmaplegrovefarms3754 if you're willing to part with it, I'd be willing to buy it
@@jonstevensmaplegrovefarms3754 I'd be willing to buy it if it's for sale
Do you have an email I can contact, I'd be interested in it
I'd be willing to purchase it
So you tell us what you did or plan to do, yet you don't show the actual work?
cab swap?
Thought about it, but it would also be full chassis harnes swap and fuse panel, not sure what would be better, other than I can pick away vs fully committed!
