I'm Salvadoran living in Canada and retiring soon, already built a decent sized brand new home for $50,000 u.s. dollars. I already owned the land and have an older house on it too. I'm going to retire with $3,800/month and I only need $1,300/month to live more than comfortable, including owning a vehicle.
El Salvador is safe now too, thanks to their new, no-nonsense approach.

Santa Ana "centro" usually have runing water all day 24/7 and some houses have installed AC units but is not that common unless they want to have an Airbnb business.
Notice the bars on the doors & windows.
The security has improve a lot the last couple of years, this architecture was common and popular among the locats to secure their belongings

Well I've escaped from Canada and helped many others to do the same. And I think we have most of the essentials but would be nice to have Amazon
