Originally from there lived most of my life outside El Salvador, left in the early 70"s before the civil war, thinking about returning for good now in my late years, watching your videos is like a breath of fresh air, reminiscing what I left behind through your videos makes me seriously consider returning. There was a lot of fear about moving here, but in the end we made the leap because our home country is deteriorating so rapidly.
That's a nice place to live , congratulations! I'm sure everything is gonna be ok , try not travel at night, just in case you got a flat tire , usually there's no many people that can help you, that's what we salvadorenos do !

All I have to say is I envy you both. I’m Salvadorian came to the USA when I was 14 and now want to do exactly what you guys are doing. My wife and myself have talked about doing what you guys have done so many times but got children to think about first. Some day we will. I wish nothing but the best for both of you. you guys got balls of brass, I left el salvador in 82 because of the civil war. I been living in san francisco ever since. I'm now retired n devating abour going back to live there the rest of my yrs but I am finding that idea stressful and scary even tho i was born there. the scary part is that i have lost part of my old culture n old way of being, i feel like a move like such will be like starting all over again. i would apreciate any imput from you as i think your opinion will be unbias!. Great video guys we also experienced similar emotions though we have been traveling for 13 years outta Canada Jen even longer but a hug difference actually moving permeantly is huge difference 😂
So question are bugs not an issue with this design when cooking or sitting outside 🤔🤔
Here in Mexico you would be eaten alive by mosquitoes lol or buy shares in the bug spray industry 😂

The mosquitos come out at dawn and dusk, we either wear repellant or burn one of those green coils. It's not so bad. There are other bugs around but the geckos keep them in check. The geckos live behind the fridge; we are happy to have them as tenants!
For the most part, the bugs that do come either get gobbled up or just pass through. We keep it clean, so there's less for them inside than outside.

Congratulations guys!!! I live in Canada and still would like to make the move to El Salvador. I like the apartment, but how do you keep bugs or any other critters from getting into your apartment?
There's an apartment nearby coming up for September 8!
To answer your question, we don't! They come in, and then they go all by themselves. We make sure to give them no incentive to stick around, by keeping the place clean, packing away all food etc.
Without any walls to contain them, we rarely ever seen one. Plus, there's a family of geckos living behind fridge who do the rounds once in a while, gobbling up whatever bugs they find. We had the same concern, but it hasn't been a problem.

Never seen a house or apartment like that. It must be some type of new concept. It looks very exciting to live there. But what if you wanna be naked in the living room or the kitchen? What if you're running away from someone or something? How are you supposed to be safe and in a private environment?
@@sebastienloebsv5589 Those houses are actually common in El Salvador, especially up in the mountains and outside of the city. People never spend their time being naked, as they have their rooms for that purpose. They just get dressed in the morning and leave their house for the entire day and come home and sleep. Since most people spend their time in the city or in the mountains, they don't feel the need to relax at home, unless they are eating or having a cup of coffee. I went to El Salvador, and I was expecting to stay in bed for most of the day as I was tired from driving five hours from the airport to my grandmother's house, but that wasn't the case at all. Immediately when I woke up, we got dressed and went outside to explore and play with the other kids.

The open air concept is new to me and I don't know how to feel about that. You've explained about the bugs but what do you when it rains? I love El Salvador I'm glad you guys do too. Best of luck!
We do have blinds that come down to help keep out the rain. We don't really use them because when it rains, it rains straight down so not much rain gets in the downstairs area. A drainage system collects the water that falls off the roof so the place doesn't flood. Thanks for the question!

Haha you got that right! We were pale, 10 pounds heavier and sickly. Since landing our physical and mental health has improved by leaps and bounds.

You're not alone. We have seen and heard of many, many Salvadorans returning after decades away. There's something special happening here.
That's great, I admire your Journey. It is brave. You will make it work! 👏🏻👏🏻 however, for that price you could have gotten an enclosed living room and kitchen. There are plenty of places at that price range. It is pricy for not having walls.

We are aware of places that are priced similarly and offer more, however we are quite happy in this spot. The openness is actually wonderful!
Since you like that area, keep looking around for another apartment. You may find something for the same price with even more space, or an appartment that is about the same size for less. Love your story and I may be moving soon too to La Libertad 😊

...l m a salvadorian living in Australia along my family for 34 years. The civil war in the 80's gave us no choice but to leave ASAP. Now...just now watching very inteligent newcomers make feel proud y prone to come back to El Salvador for good. Have you considered El Salvador? As a Nicaraguan citizen, your wife can become a citizen here after just 1 year of residency, and two years after that you can too, through your marriage. El Salvador is modernizing fast, it's a great place to be!
