      Hi @jenniferpiston - the prices vary a lot depending on where you choose to live - if you are looking at the beach it can range from $1200 - to over $2000 - if you are looking up here in Berlin you will be looking from $400 - $1000 and then in San Salvador it can be anywhere in between. We recommend you come and visit, have feet on the ground and look at where you and your family are comfortable.

    I've watched many Nicki & James videos and they all are very informative including this one! Most of the videos have older people and their story, can you try to interview Expats who are in their 20s? My daughter is 25 speaks Spanish and is a surfer, she recently got an online job and will go to El Salvador or Mexico in a few months, she loved Mexico when she went to 2 years ago and isn't sure which location to travel to. Also, my son is 27, surfs and will probably visit his sister once she picks a place, so any info from young people would be great.
    My husband and I are surfers and kitesurfers but sadly there doesn't seem to be much wind in El Salvador but if anyone has different info I'd love to hear that as well!

    • @njelsalvador
      @njelsalvador  Год назад +1

      Thank you for watching and your comment, there are many younger people who have moved here and many female surfers. So yes we will arrange to interview some younger people. Many young females have moved to El Salvador before Bukele was president and have been very comfortable down by the beach.
      I wing foil and have found it very hard to find a place I have felt safe to get out in the water past the surf. Though in saying that there are kitesurfers in Costa del Sol, which is a nice area not so good for the surf though. I hope this helps and if you have any other queries please reach out.

    All of my Salvadoran friends that I know have their father's last name and then is followed by the mother's last name, (including me). The "last name" is considered the father's last name . I think, as a rule, the civil servants at the registry for new born babies, are required to ask for the name of the procreator, the father. And at the registry are required to state the civil status of the parents at the time of the registration, as I see in my birth certificate .

    Really interesting! Lots of good info. 👍
    From what Ive found on the net... maybe Nicki/Juliana can confirm -, in case anyone is wondering, the 'morning after pill', emergency contraception is available in El Salvador via Dr. And over the counter in some pharmacies. Since 1998 there are no exceptions, all abortions are illegal.
    Home-schooling is allowed, and kids legally don't start schooling until 7yrs. School runs for 5hrs per day.
    Having homebirthed my own kids I find it sad that, once the norm, homebirthing is now prohibited. Here's a doco to watch -
    Matronas: The Struggle to Protect Birth In El Salvador 2021.
    Lastly, the healthcare system is considered poor...(unsure how this is measured). However, its divided into three. Public, social insurance, and private sector. I'm guessing if you can afford to pay for healthcare, it's decent? Public ambulances, apparently have inadequate resources and staff onboard. There's a lot of vaccination recommendations for El Salvador too, wondering what your thoughts are on those. Would also love to know if playgroups exist, if there are plenty of playgrounds or other activities for kids. Thanks again for another informative video Nicki! ❤️

    • @njelsalvador
      @njelsalvador  Год назад +2

      Hi Karen, Thank you for your great questions, and it will need some research on this. So it will take some time to come back (its great to have the research queen next door 😆
      With the schooling, even though it runs for 5 hrs a day there seems to be alot a after school activities that the children are involved in.
      Thanks for the doco - I will be interest to watch this, as it is a subject I am interested in as I too believe in the importance of a females choice here.
      You have done a lot of research, and I am aware that Gaby and Nayib have spent a lot of focus on the hospitals public and private to improve them and get them to a safe health and clean state.
      In regards to vaccinations recommendations, I will talk with Juliana on this - we may need to do a question and answer video for you
      Play grounds - I haven't seen any - though it is not in my daily thoughts as I don't have children, - in our community there are 3 soccer fields and 2 half basket ball courts. So in the gated communities you may find playgrounds for the kids.
      I hope this helps a little

    My mom have us at home whe she give us birth long time ago too i was born in 1989 and she have me at our house she did not go to any hospital 🏥 before that was normal almost all women have their children that way but now everything change this days i think almost all women have they childrens at hospitals one because culture has change in that área 2 we got free health care is no the best right now but its impruving and to recibe free attention specially in this particular and important time every women in the country deside better to go to the hospital to give birth but before its was normal i think now is ilegal to give birth at home because of the complications Mothers can have so govertment has been educated People about it showing or telling the risks so thats why anyone i know now have their childs at home anymore is unsave for us now we feel more secury as a family that our sivilings have their babies at hospital especially that now is free you dont have to pay any penny for it great savings for you bank accounts.In a private hospital you can pay like 2,00 or more for that 3,500 etc a lot money thats why we prefere the public hospital to save and after all the attention is not that bad i mean is desent place for free a great choice

    IT FEEL VERY EXITING, TO SEE SO MENY PEOPLE MUVING TO MY BELOVED EL SALVADOR, AND TO THINK THAT VERY SOON, WE WILL TURN IN TO A MULTICULTURAL NATION, MORE OVER IS THE TRUTH BEHIND IT, THAT THE AMOUNT OF OPPORTUNITIES THAT THAT BRINGS, ARE COUNTLESS, AND WE SALVADOREANS ARE VERY LOVING PEOPLE, SPECIALLY THOSE WHO COME HERE TO STAY FROM OTHER COUNTRYS, US WEL US THOSE WHO CAME HERE TO VISIT US, WE WANT THEM TO STAY WITH US, AND IF YOU GO BACK, THAT AT LEAST YOU HAVE SOMETHING POSITIVE TO SAY, AND TO TELL OTHERS.. COME AGAIN SOON RATHER THEN LATTER.
