So many of the places Cash shows, has some sort of outdoor space. I lived at places without. I don't think they're as common in my city as Cash's videos make New York look, so when I found my place now, I thought the fact that it had a little balcony was sooooo cool, and sold me on it....(and now I don't even go out there, cuz pigeons were trying to nest on it, and I'm totally grossed out 😅).

The statement above is v accurate. What outsiders/newbies need to know about living in NYC long term is that the smartest financial move as a renter is to get a rent-stabilized apartment (unless paying $$$ in free market rate isn’t an issue). Even though roughly half of all rentals are RS, vacancies aren’t as readily available or easy to find. Any NYC tenant lawyer worth their salt will tell you NOT to leave an overall “good deal” RS-unit unless there’s a better offer on the table.

Concerning the water pressure coming from your shower head:
Remove the shower head, then remove the small screen that is inside the connecting tube. That is a water saver screen and reduces your water pressure to half. Once removed, your shower head will have the proper flow. Congrats on the new place

I used this method as well when moving last year. I had stuff in my closet that I barely touched, so I knew they didn't need to come with me. Some things though, like books, I want to read but it's a pain digging in plastic totes each time I want to get one. I began working from home permenantly (hopefully) during the pandemic and my bedroom, the only private space I had, had to then also accomodate a desk, ruining any plans for a bookshelf.
Now that I live on my own, I've turned the second bedroom into my office and will put a small bookshelf there, at last giving the books a proper place. But be careful to not get too caught up on "I don't have a place for this" as that can easily tumble into the mantra of those who hoard, where it's not about space but as the original coment stated, you just have too much stuff.
If you're handling the moving yourself like I had to, your body will thank you greatly for not making it carry loads of unnecessary stuff, lol. You have way more "essential" stuff as it is than you realize. Trust...nothing shines a glaring light on just how much you own than moving (I also made the fatal mistake of thinking "Ah, that room doesn't have a lot, I can pack it in a few minutes!" HA! Never do that! You have a lot more in such rooms than you realize, your eyes have just gotten used to glossing over things, like pictures, or curtains).

Then put a colored sticker denoting the room the box came from (each room has it's own color) so they can easily be distributed at the new place. If you’re just packing up everything that cluttered up your old place and bringing that stuff to your new place, then it’s only going to look as disorganized/messy as the old apartment did. She discovered they packed up everything that was left, and that included dirty rags and garbage. She found out that was not unusual. They got paid by the box, and they didn't have to decide what was trash or treasure. :) I suppose we were lucky to have our bags for the trip. :) I can't imagine what chaos would ensue at Cash's apt if the movers unpacked everything with nowhere to put stuff yet.

The thing to do is to go through and get rid of anything you haven't used in a year's time. I think next time I'll get rid of all my furniture and buy new for the new apartment. I think your new place is much nicer than your old place, especially the finishes in the kitchen and bathroom. Note about the low pressure in the shower: That may be a low flow shower head. Built in 1924 by John J. McKelvey - developer, writer, attorney and the first editor of Harvard Law Review - he envisioned the Villa Rosa, Villa Charlotte Brontë and Villa Victoria as answers to encroachment of the “ugly city” into Spuyten Duyvil’s idyllic scenery. Instead of cold high-rise apartment buildings, McKelvey built apartments into European-style villas that were just as luxurious on the outside as in.
Perched on a rocky cliff overlooking the river, Charlotte Brontë and Victoria stand beside each other - two fairytale castles replete with Old World charm - possibly the best-known example of Bronx beauty.
Time and circumstance weren’t as kind to Villa Rosa, one of the first multi-family homes built in Spuyten Duyvil. Just a quick jaunt down Palisade Avenue from her sisters, the years were apparent from the exterior. But the history the house holds was beautiful to her neighbors

This is an essential practice especially if you're moving to a smaller place. Clutter is bad for the mind. I have a much larger space than you do and I make a practice of thinning out belongings ever two or three years. But all is not lost. As you unpack go through your stuff. I ❤️ your new home! It looks so nice and newer except being smaller with higher price cost for your family. From our own experience of moving from bigger to smaller is downsizing things you are going to keep from items that are rarely used anymore to save room and space in smaller home. We are planning to move into bigger home yet we are already in process of removing unnecessary items and planning cost effectiveness shopping for vintage furnitures mixed with new items on top of our indoor cats' wall play areas inside home within cats' playroom aka spare bedroom and catio room outside. We wanted bigger place with 4 + bedrooms and 2+ bathrooms not just for ourselves but for our multiple of cats! My hubby is retired now and looking forward to bigger place with land after we had lived in much smaller home. I know it is unusual to upsize as retirees but we want more room and space after always living in small places close to his work. Plus , house with guesthouse and land is future profitable potential for our son when we're gone as owner , landowner's rental guesthouse property or to sell. Plus , financially saving in growing our own vegetable, fruits, herbs and raising cow/chicken/pigs in countryside instead of grocery stores in long term. 🥰
