In 1993 I was 12 and rented this game from my local Blockbuster and played it till the sun came up, since then I completely forgot about it. Its crazy, I was just watching something on youtube and it had that same cheesy music that triggered a memory in my brain of this game. So I looked it up and this video popped up. Its been around 31 years since I watched this game. The game was pretty easy except some of the challenges seemed impossible.

Also has the best ball physics, sounds, and backgrounds. The graphics are stunning and look like real life instead of a video game, with the reflections off the balls, the wood on the table, the fuzz on the felt, and the visible grains on the stick.
I love this game! Its one of those games I played at one of the happiest, youthful parts of my life. the cheesy 80's pool hall music and theme and memories just take me back. I wonder if the people making these games ever realized that the games they were making were like bookmarks for the mind that really last forever.

Na época das locadoras achava sem graça esse jogo. Hoje em dia estou jogando nos emuladores porque deu uma nostalgia de jogar. Não consigo nem passar da primeira fase. Eu não sabia que dá para terminar esse jogo em menos de 20 minutos.
The NES version had at least some kind of story, i.e. the girl falling in love with the player, and the player climbing up classes. But this? You win the last stage and credits just start rolling? That's it? Wow.
This version is unique that it's American-developed rather than Japan. Look at the credits It's the only game in the SIDE POCKET series to have this trait The music is more "relaxing" compared to Genesis version's "cheerful" tunes.
No need to look at the credits, Iguana Entertainment is openly mentioned as the developer in the opening. Interestingly, the contract wasn't given to Iguana by Data East USA but by the Japanese parent company itself.
Gave this game a try on Nintendo Switch Online. The soundtrack is fantastic but the game itself is impossible. There's no way you should be able to do those trick shots, and it won't let me move on to Level 3 even though I keep smashing the target score... Is it because I keep failing the challenge shot??? I can't figure that one out, either! You make this look so easy, it's bullshit. Edit: 7:42, WHAT THE HELL, HOW ARE YOU ABLE TO CURVE THE SHOT?! I CAN'T DO THAT!

Yeah I don't get how that whole thing at 1:58 where just scratching it in zone was okay. But yeah, anyway, I agree with the majority here. The Music in this version sucks. The Genesis version triumphs in almost every way. No, every single way. Music was SO MUCH BETTER in the Genesis one.

It is pretty amazing. The soundtrack reminds me of a little bit of NBA jam mixed with aero the acrobat. It’s my new favorite! Can’t believe I’ve been missing this for so many years!
It is amusing how it just got better graphics Btw data east released a dirty version of side pocket called Pocket gals where if you pull it of perfectly you get too see nude chicks
As much as I love the Genesis, the music sounds much smoother and atmospheric in this port. The twangy, tinny Genesis tone just doesn't suit this kind of music well.
If anything this version's soundtrack is more laid back, like watching a TV show about pool, complete with soundtrack playing in the background while the players play.
