Anymore updates on this amazing build?
Sounds fantastic, well done. Can't wait to see and hear it on track.
Thank you! Cant wait myself :)
Keep the vids rolling 😎. That revs up like a motorbike engine, almost instant.
Well done that man. Looks and sounds awesome. Can’t wait to see and hear the car running in its entirety. 👏👏👏
Happy you like it! :)
@@SlangenRacing is it based on a rover KV6
@@safeandsoundbude7619 Yes that is correct! 🙂
More video please, a brief dispription of the effort id love this to be a thing for the mg range
I am working on the GT3 body at the moment, have taken moulds and to make the parts. So garage is messy as hell, i plan to make a walkthrough of the whole car :)
Sounds amazing. Any updates on this build. Thanks
Awesome!!
Thanks! :)
Omega pistons with Westwood liners should see the block take some boost be interested in ig this is your route
I have CAD designed billet pistons and rods, and had them machined. They are up for the job, stock crank is a undiscovered path i belive :) Will se if it holds up!
That’s brilliant, how do the upgrades effect the reliability?
Anymore videos on this lotus
As a Rover guy I have never seen anyone turbo one before can you share some of the specs and how you built it?
Sounds awesome . How much has it upset the balance weight distribution . And what is the weight penalty over original Rover K .
Thanks! I weighed the vvc160 when i pulled it out, complete with clutch flywheel alternator including exhaust manifold etc, and it was 115kg. I did the same with the kv6, turbo, exhaust manifolds, alternator flywheel etc etc, and it was 134kg. That is 19kg north. But it is compensated on exhaust 7kg, Ali fuel tank 8kg, rear brakes is 11 kg lighter and so. Drysump tank and some 3liters of extra oil big filter cooler etc is 7-8kg more. So it sums up about the same as before. The car was 720kg without driver, full tank. It has no trunk, heater stereo, etc etc. The kv6 is a very very small and light engine when you dress it of. There are loads of crap on it in a standard car. It might be the lightest v6 around? Plus it fit in the elise/exige. Almost ;)
Video in the action car?
Are you able to buy the parts to make this super kv6 ? Need to rebuild my ZT KV6 😈
Wish I could do that to me zs lol
Are the ITBs custom made? Or are their off a 3/6 cylinder motorbike? I had a look for some a year or two back and found a couple of triple cylinder ones that were about the same diameter as the cylinder heads.
They are from a 675 triumph daytona! We made billet aluminium adapters for them. They are a little narrower, but it is taken care of with the adapters.
Well this looks interesting?
Could this be done to an MG ZT 190 ?
I have no idea, but my best guess is yes :)
Which is the exact name of the Lotus- Heads? Is it possible to buy them somewhere in used/ new? Actually my Motor is pulled of for a new tming belt und new cylinder head gasket.......maybe....😊😜
Is this engine similar to Rover KV6, the one found in Rover 75 , MG ZT ?
I just read it in description , that thing is rev happy , brilliant build
I want turbo my MG ZS 180 :D
Would be fun, not much room though 🤣
Where can we see more?
Hi! I have a build thread on Swedish Locost forum, but i have not updated in a loooong time. I will make a "shed tour" and tell a bit about what is going on here, speak a bit about what has been done and so in the near future :)
@@SlangenRacing Yes please!
Any specs or output figures on the engine?
Power figures are still unknown, but estimate around 400-450hp. Would be possible with more with bigger turbo, but engine has stock crankshaft (cast nodular iron), and there are limitations what it can take (probably). I have some specs. in the description :) , if there is anything else just ask :)
@@SlangenRacing very interested and will keep following. I've always argued that turbo instead of super charging should have been the route for kv6s. I'd be very keep to see a usable 250 bhp ish version in my zt!
@@RobsonRoverRepair Yes that should be very easy. 300Hp N/A is not that hard to get. But swapping intake manifold for itb or a short runner manifold is a must.
Any info on numbers coming out of that thing?
It depends on what level of boost. But it would be able to produce around 550Hp. But will be limited to 400-450Hp. Crankshaft is the limiting factor. Response and wide torque curve with drivability is the highest goal.
what engine is this? And what car does it come from? and what displacement does it have?
It is a Rover 25K4F, also known as KV6. This partiklar one is from a landrover freelander -98. 2.5 litre displacement.
What have you done to the bottom end?
westwood liners, alignhoned block, bored out oil runners, our own billet pistons and rods. Balanced crankshafs, oil gallery bored out, and our own billet flywheel with AP 5" twin plate clutch.
What is your throttle body set up? Triumph v6?
Kind of. The throttles is from a 675 Daytona :)
@@SlangenRacing fascinating!
Do they line up okay or do they need adapting ?
I'd be very interested if you could share how you mated them up to the engine and all of the parts needed to do it.
Do they run a regular TPS signal ? I would love to even just get these TB's on my KV6 even as a naturally aspirated mod.
@@SlangenRacing could the engine still run the usual injection system and ECU with these TB's?
@@MGRracing We machined a billet adapter that bolts up to the head. The throttles use the triumph intake boots that bolts on to the adapter. Regards, Andreas
@@MGRracing I doubt that. I run Ecumaster Black on this one. I also use the triumph TPS.
Can ya build me one for my ZS180?
Sounds phenomenal!! I probably cant afford it!! But man this is wonderful...
I probably could. But lets see if this one holds toghether first... 😅
@@SlangenRacing im assuming it has a custom cam and belt setup? Not seen the cams done that way before. Must have a lot of torque considering the power.
@@dahotrod1533 Cams are just piper 285H. Pulleys are partly made by me and my friend, also lower pulley and tentioner etc. Timing belt is audi 3.0v6. Power figures are just estimates at this point. :)
@@SlangenRacing will be interesting to see dyno results
