    Some late 90s Kia cars had Rover KV6 because Kia invested 10,000,000 pounds for developing this engines and had factory in South korea
    And also there were plans to expand the range to an in-line four (a half-relation of the K4-Series), and a V8 version of the engine

    Reliable... Sure. Maybe after BMW redesign and even then it had its problems.

      To be fair I’ve only ever had one major fuck up with a KV6 and that was down to poor ownership.

      @@Leo060708 Luck maybe... I'm not saying the engine itself is bad. My mother has a 75 2.0 KV6 from 5 years now and it's working almost flawlessly. The problems are those plastic components after BMW redesign - inlet manifold, VIS motors, clutch, thermostat. The engine itself WAS bad when it was almost handmade. BMW sorted that out but made another problems with plastic components. Other than that, KV6 is a great sounding engine but ... not much else. Performance is poor, economy awful, expensive in repairs and maintenance ... my mother has this 75 KV6 and I have 2.5 KV6 in my ZT so I know what I'm talking about ;)

      I totally agree with you my 75 has the 2.5 unit and fuel consumption is terrible, as I’m retired now I only do short distances thank god .

    • @Luzzak
      @Luzzak Год назад

      @@metalman4141 I totally understand. My 2.5 ZT can consume 15,5 MPG in winter :/ :/ :/ and I'm not revving it like crazy - it's a normal, everyday drive with kids in the back... VIS and manifold fully working. In V8 engine I can understand that but 2.5 V6? That's why I bought E46 320d as a second car - to lower down fuel costs cause driving ZT everyday the whole month was too expensive... I wanted Diesel ZT at first but... If it's only 131hp at best (without remap), with very hard suspension then why not to buy f.e. E46 which is 150hp with a lot more comfy ride. 75 was also an option but again - only 131hp for the same money so... To be clear - I really like 75 and ZT's. Great cars but unfortunately - cheaply made and underdeveloped. I always thought that ZT's should have been in only 3 engine options - Basic 2.5 KV6 190, Standard V8 260hp and Ultimate V8 385bhp supercharged. No Diesels (116 or 131hp for a sporting car? Joke?), no K-series etc. but we all know that problem was the lack of money. Shame. Both 75 and ZT are cars that can drive me crazy sometimes with their faults, economy etc. but... I don't know - still love them and not a chance of getting rid of them ;)

      @@metalman4141 If you did a constant 55mph it would be cheaper to run, obviously town driving isn't cheap or or even a heavy right foot.

      I agree with your point on LR but how were Morris Garages cars better than Rover to have kept them when going and not Rover, MG were cheap cars in reality and nothing overly special,

      Those early units certainly were. However, as the KV6 found its way in the 75, the quality improved dramatically. As an 827 (Honda C27A engined) owner, I wouldn't trade mine for a late 825 KV6, but I'd happily have a 75/ZT KV6.
