Hello. So I had a question not sure if you can answer. I have the simrad go9. Only 6 months old. Last time out fishing my bottom /fish finder wouldn't work or state the depth of water. The machine just showed like snow on the screen with some color on the very top like it would be the surface. Time out before that everything worked fine. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance. Ed.
Hey mate thanks for that ... I got a nss9 evo3 after your presentation at the Melbourne boat show this year and a 275l-hw 1kw to target sawds... can yo7 give me some tips on setting it up to get a good return at 600m? Thanks
G’day Lee I’m in wa going to Exmouth this weekend to chase big fish Ruby’s and red emperor s gold band snapper. I also know Paul junger very well as I own one of his boats over here in WA. Gear I’m running is the same as yourself. BSM3 with 2x Evo 2 units . Going to be fishing in 80 -90 meters and weather permitting 200+ for Ruby snapper. First time with the BSM3 unit running a chirp M265 transducer 1kw. Looking for the best settings you could recommend for me on this trip. Just a starting point. I know there’s so many variables but I noticed you recommended take everything of auto gain range ect. Would high chirp be the go or normal 200 . Like I said abit confused with the bsm 3 how to get the best out of it. I used to run a m260 non chirp transducer straight of the nss12 and so far can’t really see much of a difference with the BSM3 unit .
Tell us more about the right transducer to buy. I have the evo3 and the traditional 50 / 200 now. I want to up grade to chirp and also add forward scan. I assume they would both be thru the hull. Thanks
I know this is probably a comment that you've forgotten about by now but... he is probably running a thru hull transducer rather than the transom mount skimmer such as the HST- WSBL. He's probably running a 600w or even a 1kw high chirp transducer. On a smaller vessel it's sometimes beneficial to run a High chirp wide beam thru hull, because it'll be able to cover the same spot of the bottom in slightly deeper water as the boat rocks rather than the beam moving back in forth over the spot. Think of it as a spot light rather than a laser pointer to kind of visualize it. Hope this helps if it wasn't too late.
Have you ever lost depth reading with a totalscan transducer? Does that have to be adjusted. This is new equipment I am working with
Hey mate, can you show how use the Go9. I just had it installed on my whaler.
