Finally an explanation of the reason the callus is formed.Thank you!
Glad it helped 👍
I have this. The callus itches sometimes and feels numb.
I’m glad I found this because I’m in so much pain!!!!
This is simply genius! Thanks so much for posting this. I'm grateful.
I have this, been dealing with it for years. I filed, used callous removers and many things. It burns sometimes. I have to wear steel or composite toe boots at my job. Been there 21 years. Not sure what to do.
Is it at the bottom or the side of the big toe? We see callous build up at the side of the big toe often, especially with users of steel or composite toe footwear. The toe gets rubbed and hence the callous builds up. Have you tried gel toe caps on your big toe to reduce friction and pressure on the skin?
@@FootGeekzTV I haven't but I will. Thanks! (It is on the side)
In addition to arch support, would you recommend placing a spreader between the big toe and second toe?
If the toe is not in straight alignment that can be of help.
Thanks for sharing
You're welcome
I'm 17 years old and I stubbed my toe one and a half year back;as a result broke the interphalangeal joint of my big toe. My doctor told me to get surgery done to put back the joint in position so that when it heals it will function like before.I consulted some doctors who told that it will heal and i wont need a surgery done .So i didn't do the surgery and now my toe pains a lot and my interphalangeal joint isn't functioning. It pains generally.I want to play sports again without this pain😭.My doctor is now suggesting to get Kenacort injection 40mg.I think that it will be temporary solution but i want some permanent solution for it.Please help!🙏🏻
Did the toe heal in a plantarflexed (downward) or dorsiflexed (upward) position at that joint? Where does it hurt, bottom or top or inside the joint?
@@FootGeekzTV I don't know to be honest.I can email you all the xrays and MRI scan🙏🏻
(By the way thank you so much for replying.I didn't expect you to reply me this fast)
@@piyushagarwal4746 I'm not a doctor, but I can have a look at it to get a better picture. You can email it to footgeekz@gmail.com. Cheers.
@@FootGeekzTV Okay I'll email them to you
I have the same problem bro , can you please share what he said, I'm not able to play and it's frustrating
I have this same problem and Ive tried that and it still doest help. is their more things that I can do to help also I'm a security guard and I stand on my feet all day
Do you walk much? You may also want to try rocker soled shoes such as Xelero or Hoka.
I have a big toe callus painful and burning sensation I have treated with callus remove ointment and liquid applied past many months it get hard and peeled off again grow I am in wors painful situation what to do
Where does the callous form? In the same spot or on the side of the toe? Do you wear steel toe boots or shoes?
Not I don't wear steel boots I always very careful about shoes I used to wear medicated shoes.
I have callus at side my big toe. Now it seems infection in side quite softer bumps
@@AsifaaAlee There may be a blister present. If you do have collapsed arches on weight bearing you may be applying pressure to the inner edge of the toe. An arch support or orthotic could help balance out your foot and relieve pressure on the skin.
I have this and i have similar symptoms. it itches, it hurts, its thick and it makes my toe completely numb in most spots. the skin feels hard and I sometimes pumice stone and foot scrape it to try to relieve the itching and wear it down a bit but it's very tough and hard to get off and I don't want to cut into my toe. Do I have to get the bone removed to stop this problem?
A rocker soled shoe such as Hoka Bondi may help offload pressure on toe off. Removing the bone would most likely require a full removal of the big toe which would cause other issues. Arch support may help reduce pressure on the area if your foot has a tendency to roll inward. You may want to try a cream with urea content to help reduce the itch. The callous cream from Gehwol works well.
@@FootGeekzTV it also constantly pops and im actually a lot more worried upon coming across this video, is it possible that this is arthritis? I want to see a doctor but not sure which one to see besides a general prac.
@@kirojk666 An xray would confirm arthritic changes in the joint. Popping noises could be air escaping from the joint. You could consider seeing a podiatrist or pedorthist for additional help.
I have the same thing and I had the bone removed back in 2008 and I still have all the same symptoms I had prior to removing the bone.
I need help so bad. So the last few months my callus got so much worst. I feel like it’s because I took to much skin off one time. So now it’s hardened wider now n it hurts to walk. I kind of have to curl my big to just to not walk on it. I thought rubbing it would help but everytime I rub it, it hurts so bad . I almost cried smh
What type of shoes do you wear on a regular basis? Do your arches collapse when you're weight-bearing?
Not sure if you're seeing a Dr. But I do about every 2mos or so to have my callus shave off, it gives me some relief. I really should have surgery but at my age it's not a real option. Try to have a good day.
@@FootGeekzTVI've read stiff arches made of carbon fiber is good but others say it is like a crutch and doesn't help strengthen foot and recommend using semi rigid. What's your opinion? I'm gardening a lot and it's under joint. I'm also a long distance cyclist 20+ years and trying all kinds of insoles to which don't reduce pressure off big toes. I've used carbon and semi rigid from low to high arch (high seems a little better) with little luck. I'm 42yo. Thank you I'm advance.
@@samuraioodon high arch supports may provide more support to reduce pressure on the bottom of your big toe joint. However, the primary goal of any arch support is to contact the arch as well as possible. If you have a very high arch the support may need to be customized to relief the pressure appropriately, as there may not be enough support in an off the shelf device.
hi, where can I get the cork please
We buy large sheets at wholesale from an orthopedic supply shop. However, appears that Etsy may have smaller sheets of cork available for sale. Preferably you want Birkocork for extra durability. You may want to consider a firm density 50 or 60 shore cloud EVA.
I have a callus in the same place. I had the bone removed, hoping to make the callus go away, but the callus remains and the space where the bone was itches like crazy. How can I stop this itching? I’ll scratch it until it hurts just to stop the itching.
Does it itch when you're walking, or does it itch in general? Does it only happen in shoes, or also in bare feet and while sitting? If the bone removal (surgical procedure I'm assuming) caused a nerve to be irritated you may have complex regional pain syndrome, which in this case appears in the form of an itch, as opposed to a numbness, pain or burning sensation. You may want to talk to a neurologist about it. You may want to try CBD creams or lotions.
Foot Geekz thanks for your reply! It itches in general all the time, it’s itching now. I do notice that when the callused skin gets thick it itches more, there is skin build up now on it. When I cut the callus with the razor blade (I know I shouldn’t do that) the itch lightens up a bit. I don’t have podiatry with my health insurance.
@@DaBassLadyCovers Can you send us a picture of the area to vancouver@footsolutions.com?
