- I decided to create a relaxing snow day for myself and I made roasted tomato soup from one of my past magazine issues, then I made dog treats for Willow and I finally got the paper whites planted. I also have a little business news to share. ©

I loved your thoughts at the end about January. It was so calming spending a snow day in your beautiful kitchen!
Oh Linda , my mother always said the older you get the faster time goes ! I'm 74 and boy was she right !!! WHY is it that way ???? I appreciate this video so much. Those white tulips are gorgeous and love what you did with those paperwhites in the basket . I love tomato soup and yours looked so delicious !! Lucky Willow to have a mama like you. You are a wealth of great ideas for us to try, thank you. !
my father in-law told me aging is like the sand in an hour glass. it goes faster as it gets closer to the bottom. that analogy has stuck with me
Am I the only one that didn’t know plastic wrap could go in the oven without melting or leeching chemicals?
I've seen that done but it's hard to believe that no leeching of chemicals doesn't take place ???
If used, it is not to touch any part of the oven or near the base of a pan and it is never touching the food. Microwave foods, many times are in plastic ;-)
It's not touching the food and if we think about it, many microwave items are in plastic and the food is touching it (which I do like to remove if possible and use glass ;-)
I too remove things from the plastic before I microwave them.
@@newenglandfineliving I don’t have a microwave anymore but when I did, I used glass containers (preferably) or bpa free plastic. Plastic wrap is not bpa free. Food doesn’t have to touch it because the condensation formed on the heated plastic will then drip onto food. I majored in chemistry and wouldn’t advise doing this (or very seldom). I just wanted to share knowledge and it made my chemistry brain cringe ;) I’m definitely going to make those dog treats though for my fur babies
The donuts in the background look much more appealing than the smoothie. 😁
Yet those are fake. The smoothie would taste better LOL!
Fake donuts!! My husband would kill me😂. He hates if I burn a food scented candle, thinks I baked.
Was waiting for you to catch the sticker on that pepper!
While editing... Me too! LOL
@@newenglandfineliving 😆🙃😉😊
Lovely video Linda thank you. I agree with you about January. And I also share your goals about trying to make the most of each day, each month, each season. The older we get the more we realize what a priviledge it is to be alive and face every new day whatever it brings.
Absolutely!! 😊
Couldn’t agree more..☺️
You have such a calming voice. I really enjoyed this episode. Looking forward to more.
Thank you!
PLASTIC a in the oven?
Making sure it does not touch any part of the oven and as seen I wrapped the tinfoil around it and encased it.
Love your show Linda! About your soup recipe, doesn’t that require a specific food grade plastic? With all the issues regarding nanoplastics in our food negatively affecting health, I would not use that cooking technique. Not everyone’s as careful as you in the kitchen.
Did I spy donuts under glass next to your protein shakes???
My plastic wrap is BPA free and food safe
Darling, if you want a healthy protien source, simply make some bacon and eggs (cooked in the healthy bacon grease; of course!) There is nothing healthy in that shake; except maybe the blueberries. The shake packet is junk itself, and the spinach is FULL of oxilates...which are pretty much kidney killers! 😮 ❤
I’m reading a book about ultra processed food. Real food is much preferred -apple juice, apple smoothie , a whole apple. Guess which one wins.
NONE! Most would say the bloomin apple, but its nothinh gut a sugar bomb!⁷
My mother always said the same thing…the older you get the faster the time goes by….
Now I will be 80 on February 29th (Leap Year). And it is so very true. I loved this video. I still love my home, decorating for the seasons, and cleaning and organizing. Only now I a really trying to purge in a big way. Not easy for someone who loves to change things and decorate. ❤😊
Gearing up for the impending week with two teenage boys, one with special needs, I can not tell you how much your videos provide the calm that is needed before the chaos begins. Calm elegance. Is that an actual thing ? Well it is now. You've created it. And I can't thank you enough.
Very enjoyable video 😊. January has always been one of my favourites. Anyone who has raised a family knows Sept 1 to Jan 1 busiest and most costly time of year : back to school, sports and activities , Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas always tapped me out physically and financially when our kids where younger. January is the rest we all need after the fall season in so many ways and love all those indoor “January jobs” that I can finally get to in my house, the baking etc and then fire and Lindas videos in the evening! Whats not to love😊
Suggestion . I went plastic wrap free about 3 years ago, so much unnecessary and harmful waste. I too used it endlessly to wrap everything till the light finally came on , “what am I doing “! This stuff is horrible for the environment !! I have used less than 1 box in 3 years, I converted to reusable glass or many ,many use plastic containers and discovered beeswax as an excellent option . Linda you have a big voice and so many follow your lead . It is obvious you also love Mother Earth and all her beauty . Consider occasional subtle yet important initiatives into your much loved videos to spread the word to treat our homes, our souls and OUR PLANET with love and tender care. If we all just make some little easy changes........
“I’m turning into my mother…”
Gotta love it
I hear my daughter say that too LOL
It is funny how that happens !!
Yes, that made me laugh - "Mirror, mirror on the wall...I am my mother after all!" Its an expression that my twin sister and I use all the time! :-)
Tomato soup with a toasted cheese. Yum ! I too enjoy embracing each month of the year . I keep the book Simple Abundance A Daybook of Comfort and Joy by Sarah Ban Breathnach at hand and reread from it each day . It always is enlightening.
Try Beechers cheese
I have that book to and reread it every few years!!
Coziest video! We really appreciate the work you put into sharing these videos. Looking forward to more. 💛😊
Thanks so much! 😊
The homemade dog treats approved by Willow are now on my "to do" list for my dog.
Wonderful!
Thank you ,Linda, this was really inspirational and needed. Big hug to Willow.
Thank you! I will give her a hug!
I loved this video! I’ve always wanted a good tomato soup recipe! I like the thought of “hibernating” in January. We can be like that lazy ole bear, maybe he’s smarter than we realized! Your channel is my absolute favorite my only regret is that I wish I had found it earlier. Where can I order old issues of your “New Fine Living” magazine? Please keep making your spectacular videos!♥️
Hi Deborah! The magazine issues have sold out, but who knows what will come to fruition in the future!
I love January it’s the best month to sit back, relax and reset.
Good morning Linda ...I want to thank you for this video, because I'm going to heed your advice and take these January and February days and use them to refresh my soul.. I am definitely not a winter girl, however, I will take this time to refresh, to nest, to do some house cleaning, and craft and cook, and dream of summer! I have forced bulbs before but I have never forced forsythia and I think I might try it this year....and I agree with you ...there is nothing like a beautiful vase of tulips in the dead of winter! Thanks again!💕💕
That sounds wonderful Cynthia!!!!
Ok, Linda, q's today. First, why did you not just pull off the stem on the top of the pepper and use the top as well? I always use that part, too. Secondly, on the paperwhites, year before last I popped my bulbs in stones with water and they all bloomed. Last year I bought bulbs online instead of the nursery (because they were out) and not one rooted in the same stones/water method. So this year I bought bulbs from the nursery, planted them in dirt, and only half of them rooted. When those didn't root,, I pulled them and tried to root in water...nothing! Should there be something on the bottom of the bulb when I buy them? Do you have failures like that. They were all firm with some growth on top. It's a little frustrating! Thirdly-did you say Skippy is your favorite? Honestly, I have no memory. I buy Skippy All Naturals at the store. Then you would have your favorite and they would work for Willows treats. 😊 Tomato Basil soup is my favorite and grilled cheese. Yum. I know people say this all the time, but your videos are so good and relaxed, you make it a pleasure to watch. Loved all the good news on procuring a new work space/warehouse. Having that will allow you to relax at home.. Have a great week!
I bake my Aussie doddle Finn much the same cookie except l use oatmeal flour (Finn can't tolerate rice) ,no water added though.
The treats come out very crunchy and can be stored in a jar and if you like frozen and take out a few at a time. But with my boy ,they go pretty quickly 😊🐶🐾
Pumpkin Oatmeal Dog Treats
5 cups of oatmeal flour or whatever flour your pup's dietary needs are
1 cup of canned pumpkin puree not pumpkin pie filling
2 large eggs
1/2 cup of peanut butter ( no sugar) Or if you're a no peanut household 1/2 cup of applesauce
Optional breath freshener 1 tablespoon of dried parsley or 2 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
Preheat oven 300F
Gind oats in a food processor add eggs, peanut butter or apple sauce and pumpkin
Process until the mixture is thick somewhat coarse cookie dough
Roll into balls 1-2 tablespoons flatten with your floured hand or floured glass
Bake 45 to 60 minutes depending on the size of the treat you want them hard and crunchy but not burnt .
9 calories per cookie
Cool and give your beautiful pups a ( hopefully) a treat they will enjoy and you feel good about giving ❤
Thank you for sharing!
I look forward to your videos each week. So educational and entertaining. I appreciate that you don't hide your mishaps. Keeps it real and fri
Just love Willow too.
I love cozy Winter snow days too! Willow loves her treats, she is so adorable!
January is my birthday month and this year I turned 65. And you are so right. The older you get the quicker time flies. As always I love your videos. They are so creative and inspiring!!!!! Thank you!
Linda, that soup looks absolutely scrumptious 😅I love January also❤I actually enjoy cold where I can sit by the fire and my sweet little doggie,Amy snuggles in my lap.
I’ll watch anything you produce, Linda. You are the best!
Good morning Linda, Love starting my morning with "life" with Linda. Didn't know about the plastic on the pan for the oven. Love the basket for the paper whites, thought having them lower would then use the sides to help hold them up? But I guess not. Yes, snow days are great. Congratulations on getting a Warehouse with office! So exciting. Can't wait to try the doggie treats for my Doodle Bentley, I will make sure to tell him it is from Willow. Have a great day and enjoy the peace of your snow day. Thank you for all you do and pass on to us.
The paperwhite basket looks charming. The soup looks yummy, especially with that sandwich. Lucky Willow, homemade treats! Your kitchen looks so warm and cozy on a cold January day! Expecting snow today, let’s bundle up!
Good morning, Linda! I actually love the winter months for the reasons you mentioned. It is a cozy, rainy day here in CT. I love to cook, bake and read in the winter months! Have a great day!! ❤
Good morning!
Hi Linda I’m new to your channel. Love your channel how do I find your online store?? Or order your boxes ? Thank you! ❤
Hi Loretta. Circafineliving.com will take you to the main page, which links to the shop. I will be sharing information about the boxes this coming Wednesday (I think).
Oh my goodness, Teddie peanut butter! ❤ My parents used to buy it in the metal pail (we had a large family). 😂
Another enjoyable Sunday morning ☕ seeing Linda in the kitchen and sharing a welcomed mix of fun items for her viewers. Looking forward to March and knowing more about the new business, and " work Wednesday's " sounds like great news 👍 So glad Willow enjoyed your natural homemade treats 🐕 Blessings Linda ☮ have a fun week.😊 love the white tulips 🌷 🌷🤍
Thank you for the clean ing tip on cleaning blender, so much easier than I was doing .love your channel. Form carman, Manitoba Canada
You are so welcome! My friend showed me that once and I was like.... No Way! LOL
We use this hack, too. We have a Ninja blender and the blade is deadly! I nicked myself once trying to clean it myself - never again!
Good morning Linda! I’ve never done paper whites before. Does there need to be a certain amount of spacing between each bulb and do they require sunlight or will bright daylight be ok? Enjoy your snow, the cape is getting rain ☹️.
They can be touching or spaced apart. I have had mine all over the house, in and out of direct sunlight, but not in a dark space. I linked some paperwhites below the video if you care to try!
Beautiful use for that basket.....I should have kept it. LOL, just kidding! I will definitely be trying those dog treats for Jack, I love knowing exactly what ingredients are in the treats and how easy! Thank you for sharing your Snow Day with us.
Hi Linda, would you mind linking or sharing the protein powder packets you are using for the smoothie? Thanks
I would recommend the products made by Vega...
The use of plastic wrap is such a turn off especially in the oven. I’ve cooked for many years and have Never done this. Not good advice to be putting out there.
Sending an edited message that The plastic wrap I use is BPA free
Parchment paper will work good too in place of plastic wrap
Ahhhhh! good to know! Thank you!
Linda - Each year I am more in love & infatuated with winter! Being indoors, warm & cozy, & viewing the winter weather outdoors is so satisfying & heartwarming. Getting out & playing in the snow takes me right back to my childhood - I really look forward to annual ski resort vacations with sledding, snowmobiling, skating, & bunny slopes. I’ve begun to use these winter months to go through my home carefully & purge anything I no longer want/need - donating many items or gifting things to loved ones that I know they’ll cherish. My favorite seasons are now Autumn, Spring & Winter. Summer’s blasting heat has allocated it to 4th place for me. Very enjoyable video - you accomplished so much!
I added meat purée (baby food jar) to my dog biscuits for my black lab Riley. He loved them. 💕
awesome!
That's BRILLIANT! 😃
Good mourning sweet Linda. Let’s get this wonderful Sunday, started. How do I get your Fine Living Magazine? I love your channel and getting the magazine would make my heart so happy. Your knowledge is powerful in so interesting to me. I also like using King Arthur baking products. You make things look fun and that is what we need when in the kitchen for long periods of time. See you next time.
Yes! January is going with in ourselves and bringing out the beauty of ourselves and what makes life as best we can. My dear polish mother was great in making every meal she made for her children and husband as though we were quest. I also love when you mentioned life flies by as we get older. It reminded me of mother saying many times honey time flies by fast and as we age it flies by faster.
My past issues have sold out. Working on plans to revive something in the future. fingers crossed.
@@MarilynDean-i5bYou made me have good memories of my Polish grandmother I remember even if we stopped in to drop something off she would put the kettle on and fix up sandwiches and pastries and what was a quick stop turned into lifetime memories and how I do for my grands and family.💚
@@newenglandfinelivingI just found your channel recently and what's funny is a good friend of mine and I swap our magazines back and forth and she has some of yours now I connected it I'm calling her for the magazines 😆
You can perk up herbs and greens by rinsing in "warm water" and wrapping in paper towels and refrigerate. t works.
something to try for sure! Thanks!
I'm with you Linda I actually enjoy this time of year.I live in Wisconsin and right now it's snowing softly outside.Your soup looked wonderful.
Same way I do tomato soup, minus the plastic wrap. Delicious! I also add feta cheese. Like Trader Joe’s tomato-feta soup! 🎉
Hi Linda I would like to make some of your dog treats... I didn’t hear how much rice flour you used... would you mind sharing the recipe? Thanks!
I'm with you, Linda. I love January (winter in particular) and try to remind myself to slow down, take it easy and not rush into anything anymore. I'm actually sad January has come to an end as this month always seems to go by so quickly. Spring will be here before you know it and time goes by too fast as it is. I love snowy days and taking the time to enjoy being at home reading, catching up on some organizing or baking/cooking up something delicious. Thank you for the idea for the dog treats. My step-daughter has a new rescue puppy that she's training and always has those expensive treats on her, and thank you for the cozy video. Happy New Year!
Hi Linda, I love that you use Teddy Peanut butter. I grew up in Everett, Massachusetts, where the factory used to be, and on a windy day, you could smell that delicious peanut butter 🥜. What wonderful memories. I have started to make our sweet dogs homemade dog treats as well. They're so easy to make, less expensive and better for them. That's a win, win, win if you ask me. Have a lovely day. 🐶❤
Use those bay leaves! Pot roast, stew and the best pork roast. Make 1/2” slits across the top of roast, insert a whole allspice and 1/2 bay leaf in each. S, P and paprika. Roast. My family’s favorite.
Lovely video Linda. I like what you said about January. I've never thought of it that way. The soup looked delicious. Where did you get those adorable soup cups? Thanks for another lovely video.
I use that same recipe for my doggie. However, I have to substitute the egg for 1/4 c applesauce mine is allergic to chicken and eggs. I also make her food and that’s a whole ordeal of it’s own 😂 The things we do for our pets is amazing. Great snow day video, loved it❤
Probably aluminum foil alone is enough when roasting the tomatoes...Simple solution ;-)
Dinner looks delicious. I am wondering if a few of Willow's tiny treats might be a nice addition to the soup. LOL A cold and snowy January in Michigan is more enjoyable with the addition of seed for the garden as I long for spring.
What I like about January….its my Birthday MONTH 😝
Just let Ben know we are happy he is playing outside with Willow and we would love to even see that. Thanks for the Video. P.S. Great cookies for Willow.
Will do!
Hi Linda! I enjoyed this video and totally agree we should enjoy every season! I find winter a time to rest my gardening bones and enjoy cooking delicious meals and drumming up new ideas for the garden. See you in the next one! Hugs! :)
Planted paperwhites today , ty for reminding me ! Been meaning to give it a try for years , planted in my late moms antique clear glass short vase
I love your basket container idea for this years’ paper whites! I am thrilled to see that we can try to get artichokes to “flower”/open-thank you for this wonderful idea!! Do you recall about how long the artichoke blooms lasted on the wreath-and was the wreath placed outside or inside the house? So excited to hear of your new ideas for the business and your channel-can’t wait!!
Hi, I don't remember how long it took for the artichoke to dry out since it did it one its own while I had it displayed in my kitchen cabinet. I would keep it inside for sure. I'm hoping the three I have will dry the same way!
TY for all of your ideas on growing bulbs!! I never knew how…. Everything you do is always beautiful! ❤
You are so welcome!
I love my vitamix. Such a heavy duty monster of a machine.
I also love a snow day at home❄️❄️ Lovely video! Your soup looks yummy!
I love the way paperwhites look but can't stand the smell 😢
Is your kitchen faucet chrome or brushed nickel? I’m remodeling my old bathrooms and trying to choose all the materials. There are so many choices now, it’s overwhelming.
The kitchen is brushed, the Butler's pantry is polished. Same faucet.
What a treat to watch this. And how right you are - its good to be mindful of the things that bring us simple pleasures in such an austere season. Thank you for sharing the recipe - I'm going to try it.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Your little stoneware casserole is called “Lily of the Valley”.
Thank you for sharing this lovely video on a damp and dreary Sunday morning here in the South! 🙏💕
You are so welcome!

Great video! Thank you Linda!
Is cling wrap BPA free?

THERE YOU GO,

Mine is BPA free
Garlic plants are very heavy feeders. Fertilize well.
I can't find where I can subscribe to your New England Fine Living Magazine? P.S. I love your relaxed multi-tasking video! ❤
Hi, all of our past issues have sold out.
Sounds like the perfect day, to me!
Excellent video Linda. Thank you for sharing. Really enjoyed the dog cookies info. Definitely going to try to make these for my lil dog. Have a wonderful week.
Hope you enjoy making them and I hope your pup enjoys them too!
Thanks Linda...loved the story of January!
Pop the stem off, and you can still use the ends of the peppers
I am new to your channel, and I have to tell you how much I am enjoying looking at all of your videos!! And your home is absolutely gorgeous!! I wish I had discovered your channel before Christmas, but I am looking at all of them now in preparation for next year. ❤
Welcome!!
That color drink is disgusting. I couldn’t drink it. There are better combinations. I used blueberries this morning and mine was lovely!
It's the spinach with so many benefits that created the gorgeous color LOL
If you store the peanut butter upside down it is not oily
Thanks for these videos - your soup sounds delicious. I just have one concern. When you roast the tomatoes, it may not be good to put plastic wrap near to the vegies. It can outgas toxic stuff. I think the tin foil would do the job just fine, and without any of the toxic fumes.
I use plastic that does not have BPA chemicals. It is food safe. I should have mentioned that.
Willow has the best mom!
Is there any way to get issues of the magazine?
What i ❤ about January... i get to spend time with the hubby. Things slow down on the farm.
I love that!
It is a ‘bouquet garni’ not a sachet that you are putting in your soup 😉. Can you please share the soup recipe in written form? I really want to make it.
Thank you! The chef used the word sachet, so that is what we put. Maybe because it also included loose herbs and seeds like a sachet does?
Sorry that should read 'wise'
Hi Linda,
Wow this video was great. Thank you. Jean from Oklahoma Panhandle USDA ZONE 6b
Hi Linda, you may already know this ..but if you cut into the Garlic first it gives it time (10min) to release its Allician = power packed
Health benifits..cheers from Oz
Loved this video....
Your creativity is wonderful, and that basket is fabulous..I am a basket person..love the long videos... so relaxing on a Sunday. ❤
Thank you on your step by step instruction with the baking and paperwhites. Very helpful with good tips, especially with the natural peanut butter. I previously have overlooked your wooden vertical dish stand inside the cabinet. Prevents damage. Enjoyed Willow's cameo performance and treats meet approval!
You've had a busy AND productive day! Such a lovely video, especially for a dreary day we're having here in New Jersey. Looking forward to Wednesday's video.
BTW, I love the pretty ribbon around the basket.
Cheers!
Loved this video. Am going to make Eleanor (corgi) some healthy dog treats. Soup looks delicious. My favorite is the paper whites in the basket with branches. Thank you so much Linda!
I enjoy all of your videos, but the one today I place in my top five. The soup recipe sounds wonderful, especially on such a snowy day. What a creative way to use an old basket for your paperwhites. Wish I had your address because my sweet dog, Happy reached his maximum age and I no longer need his cookie cutters. I would send them with some old but well-preserved baskets I no longer use. I have reached the age of downsizing and have no one to leave cherished objects. I certainly understand why you don't make it public however. Even though I will not be entrepreneuring(?), I will look forward to the Wednesday offerings. Any day with one of your videos is a good day.
Thank you, Linda, for making my time on the Stairmaster much more enjoyable! I love watching all of your projects come together. Have a great week! ❤
This is perfect. I spent Thur - Sat morning making big pots of soup to freeze. First day I made cauliflower, second was yellow squash and third was pot roast leftovers, which is particularly easy.
I was contemplating what my next soup would be. I've always loved to cook big, so cooking to freeze allows me a reason to thoroughly enjoy myself in the kitchen.
Thanks for my Monday morning soup recipe, Linda. How do you always know what's on my mind? 😘
Tomato soup looks delicious I’m sure Willow is happy with the treats. And good idea with the twigs for the paper whites 😊So try time can run away enjoy our time ❤
Yum! Soup looks fabulous. What a great reminder on how enjoy January. I think I will try some of your ideas!!!
Thank you for your wide words and inspiration😍
You always lift my spirits ! I'm grateful for your channel ❤
Lovely, relaxing video. I know I am in the minority but I love winter and January and I never get the “winter blues”. I like that January is a quiet and cozy time. I always look forward to your videos.
I love your philosophy about January. I agree that it should be a little more restful since we've been a bit busier for the holidays. I declared January a month of rest and the Lord blessed me to be able to stay home two weeks!! I had a cold and missed church, then it snowed twice and church was canceled. It was glorious to stay home and give myself permission to not do much. 🙌 The tomato soup looks delicious and i really should make my dog some homemade treats. 😊 Thank you for another great video.
My Mom made tomato soup and toasted cheese sandwiches every Saturday night. Delicious! Sunday she cooked a huge meal for the 10 of us. Of course that was super delicious. Good memories!
Linda, thank you for another great video. I always enjoy your content and creative ideas. I agree with your final inspirational words, "Enjoy and embrace each season, each day, and live life to the fullest." Looking forward to your next video. God bless your "kindred spirit". Robert.
Terrible color of this drink how can you drink this
it's delicious.
