Good morning, Linda! I thought I was the only one doing the freezer thing, LOL! Best piece of advice my mother in law gave me many years ago. The only thing that goes in our garbage pail are paper products and all things that are non-perishable. All food scraps, bones, etc. goes directly into bags in the freezer and my husband takes everything to the dump twice a week. No stink! Nice to see sweet Willow. Looking forward to the fall box!! 🧡🧡🧡

Yes, I've been doing the freezer thing for many years, even onion skins go in the bag! I would be hard if you had to take your garbage to the city dump - I don't drive! I live close to native bushland in Sydney but it's still suburban, so there is a weekly collection for garbage, along with recycle... one large capacity bin for containers and glass one week, paper the next. Then on the same night, once a fortnight we put out two large capacity "green bins" for garden waste. All bins have colour coded lids, it's great and works well, unless you take out some extra garbage late on pic-up night, to find a neighbour has filled your bin with their "extra" garbage! 😒🦘

I love idea about baking soda and I wanted to share that I use the original scent of Irish spring soap bars to keep out insects and mice in my rural home. I also put in a bar of that soap in bottom of my trash cans. Critters dont l8ke that smell and yet, it smells fresh in cupboards and is not overbearing. I have also put downy dryer scent pellets in little scrap fabric squares and sew them into small drawstring sachels...tuck them in linen closets, hang on hanger or rod in closet, even put between mattress and box springs. I keep two on hooks inside my closet that holds washer and dryer. It gives a fresh scent but not overpowering.

My hubby is the coffee drinker. After each use he rinses each part with very hot water and wipes out the carafe as well as wiping down the coffee maker itself. If you do this each day it stays clean with no build up. I run vinegar thru it once a month. Easy peasy.

Thanks for the cleaning and deoderizing tips. If I'm putting something in the trash that I think will make it smell, especially if it's liquid, I put several paper towels in a zip-lock plastic bag and pour the liquid into the bag. then I close the bags. This works really well for up to a week.

I don’t have an “outdoor kitchen “ per se, but what I do have is a small table near an electric outlet in my garage. I never cook ANYTHING stinky , oily or that creates an aerosol when cooking in my house. I cook it in my garage . It’s a tiny bit of a pain to take what I’m using , either electric skillet, crockpot, electric grill,or even when I use my electric single burner and utensils out but it’s SO worth it to cut down on cooking odors. Also we live on a two acre lot that’s is surrounded by woods we take out all our bones and fish skins and walk it all the way to the back of our lot so the critters don’t come up to the house and throw them out. The wildlife, raccoons, crows opossums etc clean it up at night quickly. In 20 years we have never had them come close to the house because we take all scraps to the back of the lot. So there are never food scraps in our garbage cans . This has worked for me for years! Also I can’t sing the praises enough of the ORIGINAL SCRUB Daddys! If you’ve never used them go on Amazon and buy the original scrub Daddy’s they are FANTASTIC! No odors no scratch !

Cleaning ideas are so helpful. When it comes to cleaning your coffee carafe I fill the carafe half full of ice cubes a bit of water and add either comet, or my favorite,Borax. Swirl around the mixture and it will clean your carafe. Do this once a week. Put the plastic parts of you r
r coffee maker in your dishwasher to make life easier. Vinegar and baking soda works for many projects but I would be careful using it in your drains. It has been known to cause a clog that is hard to remove. For disposal freshness, cut up a lemon into small pieces and grind in your disposal with ice cubes. It'll make it smell fresh and the ice will sharpen the blades. NEVER put egg shells or potato peels in your disposal or your plumber will will be so happy with you. Love your videos. Keep up the great work.

I don't know if you've ever heard of Dr. Bronner's Castile Soap. The history behind the company is very interesting, it goes back over 150 yrs and 5 generations. You can't dilute this all natural soap to different ratios depending on what you are cleaning. You can also use it on pets or yourself as a self care product. I hate wearing rubber gloves and with this soap my hands don't get dried out. I have been able to get rid of so many other products since I've started to use this one. Comes in different scents depending on your preference. I am not affiliated with them, just a big fan! Take care, love your videos.

I put cleaning supplies for sink, with sponges in zip sealed gallon freezer bag in top bin, since you reach for those things most often. Next bin holds windex, window rag wipes and lysol counter wipes. Bottom shelf holds big jug of vinegar, big jar filled with baking soda, and medium canning jar holding toothbrush and scrubber brushes in it. Other stacked bins hold garbage bags, paper bags, steel wool pads in gallon zip freezer bag. Bottom bin holds dish soap, dishwasher pods, copper and silver cleaners. Works great!

I've never run across anyone else who freezes food scraps. 😮 But here y'all are by the score.
When we bought our house in 1984 I wasn't able to deodorize the disposall after trying different products and home remedies for 6 months. Small town with only one professional plumber advised me the previous owner had other issues with the kitchen drain line he believed were caused by that disposall, so on his advice we eliminated it. Thats when I began freezing kitchen scraps. Some veggie and fruit peels I "plant" behind my evergreen windbreak - but all meat scraps go in the freezer in gallon plastic freezer bags.
Nosey grankids looking for ice cream in my freezer will often make a face and ask, "😬What's that?"!
😄 I must admit banana peels in a bag with a tuna can and leftover spaghetti is a curious combo.
Linda, every time I pull out my parchment paper and wad it up I think of you. One of my all-time favorite kitchen tips. Thanks for sharing!

Oils can be toxic to cats also! I wonder if the kitty litter pine pellets we used eventually killed our cat! He died within a few months of the litter change. The company discontinued the clay based litter. We live in Georgia with red clay! Clay may not be good for the landfill, and it is good for plants, so we used them in holes near the back fence. He went from 19 pounds to 7 pounds fast. Find some other cleaner for the carpet. I use Essential oils from Hawaii, and I buy it in a quart jar! Citrus causes problems with arthritis. Sally k. Norton has the research in her book about oxylates!

The frozen “toss” bag is such a good idea, especially if composting is not an option! 🙏🏼 Consider using essential oils that have MS/GC reports to ensure they aren’t adulterated, which is more dangerous and typical of cheaper mass produced EOs. Herbal essential oils like rosemary, basil, and marjoram, and resins like frankincense are a good choice if you have animals in the house. Less is more especially since it takes so much raw material to produce an ounce of essential oils.

A little tip an old Parmesan cheese lid will usually fit right on top of those jars no need to drill holes

I went into Dollar General and bought a child size crank flour shifter and use it to gently sift small amount of baking soda on my area rugs...then vacuum. It works great!

Thank you, for the bread recipe…yummy! I’ve stopped putting my cleaning supplies under my sink. I bought a little white cabinet with closing doors. Now I can see and get to everything easily. If you could find a cute piece with doors, where willows bowls are (that still allows for the bowls with same depth) that might work well for you, too. 😊

I heat a mug of water in the microwave till boiling hot. Place the head of an old tooth brush Iwant to use for cleaning in the hot water till it gets really hot. Then bend the head back to the position/angle I want. Sometimes I will need to heat several times. Once cooled it will stay in place. I find it much easier to use for cleaning.

Hi Linda, For your carpet refresher I suggest using an empty Parmesan cheese container. It has the two flip lids for shaking or dumping 👍

Hi Linda. I have an even better technique for that stinky fish skin - after it’s cooked I give it to my Labradors. They love it and I think it’s actually good for them. Maybe Willow will like it too.

Right off the bat I see two pretty platters, my weakness! I always see something I haven't seen before. Many times I have looked for something and end up dragging things out to organize. 😏 We have weekly garbage pick up here. One truck comes for garbage, one for recycling, and one for tree limbs and bigger items. The charge is on the water bill. Willow looks so girly with her flower. ❤️

Just throw your coffee pot & strainer in the dishwasher every few days. Wipe the actual maker off when you do it. Super easy & diesnt get so nasty & take so much time to "clean it". Run vinager threw it once a month or so. GREAT advice of cleaning the sink stopper! They get nasty FAST!!!.
