For our bedroom that is mostly thrifted items, I finally found and purchased some of the bedding I was searching for. I was trying to create a cozy bed for Christmas and for the long New England winter ahead, what I did not expect was that my sleep improved greatly, which was an unexpected treat!. ©

Lovely bedroom. I can relate to the bed pillows. When the husband asks why you need so many pillows on the bed, just stare directly into his eyes and say "because I am a princess". It also works when you insist there be no wrinkles in the fitted sheet. 🤣

Donna here, my mom was German and the way they do the bed in the morning is fold down the covers and hang the pillows on the open window sill. Of course the covers and pillows were down filled. Around lunch time, they would go back and make the bed. They even did this in the winter when it didn't snow or rain. I don't do it now cuz I live in La., where bugs take over everything (hang the pillows out the window). Great memories from younger years!

Good morning! Your bedroom, your entire home, just wow! I love goosedown but alas, I cannot use it on our bed because my husband is so hot natured.
The line I looked into has three weights for that! I almost went medium due to hot flashes, but went with the heavy (which is not that heavy). I'm not as hot with the new comforter vs when I had all of my layers of bedding.

You have so many nice thrifted items all through your home! I need to find a few vintage shops. I thrift some, mostly crystal glass ware, and handmade pottery items. My favorite piece of yours is the double bow back settee that you bought for your shop but decided you liked it too much to part with! I agree with you, just love it.

Love the rosemary in the champagne buckets. They would look great surrounded with the little cutie tangerines. I just love the contrast of the orange and dark green. The 3 wreaths over the window are so unique and gorgeous!!!! Yes, a beautifully made bed is a sanctuary at the end of the day! And I use to tell my spouse... it takes you less than 30 seconds to throw all the pillows on the floor. Deal with it! hahah And since he was gone in the morning and I made the bed, it was not an issue. I was happy you mentioned a new area rug... that is such a warm, cozy visual and feel in a room of that size. I still wonder, every time I see your beautiful bed... if the top finials are still too tall for this new space? Even if they are... you can get plain round ball finials in the curtain section at Lowes, that would make a perfect topper. And since the bottom has a ball it would blend perfectly.
I do hope this will be your forever home. Your skills at design are incredible, the house is just stunning with every season. And besides, my plan is to continue to watch every one of your videos now that I am retired. 😊

I remember when I first began to follow you when you were still at Groton House and I was watching a post where you were making your bed so carefully. I have always actually enjoyed making my bed most of my life, no idea why. I began years ago waiting until after breakfast to let the bedding ‘breathe’, Also, at times, as you mentioned, if I’m in a hurry for whatever reason the bed is sometimes left unmade. I think that’s normal for most people. I do straighten it before going to bed that night. I love the choices you have made for this room, very calming.
Very cozy! I got a down comforter a number of years ago and never went back! I do believe that you get better sleep, because it is lightweight, yet warm and cozy. I love all the windows in your bedroom. I look forward to seeing whether you choose to paint or wallpaper. 😊

Wow, we are so in sync! When you posted your video about sort of cleaning out/organizing your pantry for the holidays, I had just done that. And my Christmas prezzie to myself was a goose down mattress topper, comforter, and pillows. It had been awhile since I'd gotten new bedding -- I feel like sleeping well is a necessity for good health, not just an indulgence. And I always let my bed "breathe" when I get up, because, yeah, you sweat, and you want to let your bedding dry.

The wonderful thing about checks, whether they be large or small is that you can add so many different print fabrics to go with them. Have you ever considered adding a William Morris fabric to your bedroom collection? There are so many beautiful designs to choose from. Decorating is so much fun! Love all the videos!

I love it. I laughed so hard when you said I read the directions. I adore your dress form lady tree, I made one last year I had the same problem with it shrinking, I just put her up on a small side table to get her to the height I wanted. I will be using it again in this week's dining room. Great idea using sheets to cover the comforter.

Beautiful! I've used IKEA down comforters for years (they come in various warmth options) and love them. Just mentioning that for a less expensive comforter option. 😊 Also, I bought the window candles last year based on your recommendation and LOVE them.

I'm not an indoor plant guru either. I end up feeling bad about their demise. So glad you're sleeping better. I find that if the room temp and the amount of covers are just right I sleep like a dream. Love the new bedding. I would be happy to live with it this way for a long time. Very pretty and so spacious.
