Apple having to be forced by the EU to adopt USB-C says a lot about they have become. The EU even had to warn them about making non Apple USB-C cables less compatible. Apple are probably very upset about losing out on the licensing fees for lightning.
Yes very true. Im not sure if i like this or not. I remember the Samsung S5 with removable battery. The phone was feeling cheap and flimsy. Removing the backcover you hade a thin plastic cover very cheap looking and feeling. Maybe new designs can help in this regard but im not so sure. I can remember what happened with mobiles with removable batteries when they we’re dropped by mistake. You have the battery, battery cover and the rest fly in all directions 🤷🏻♂️
I'm a professional photographer. The 3x 77mm lens is much more useful vs the new 5x. I literally got the smaller model because it has the more useful camera.
As an iPhone user, I’m definitely going to switch back to Android after seeing the new iPhone 15. A better camera and a USB-C port does not scream innovation to me. I’m considering one of the Samsung foldables.

They started it with the 7 plus that was the first iPhone to have two cameras. Then at some point they started to make things more equal between the two versions . Now here we are again . They could have, theoretically, gone with Thunderbolt if they really wanted to up transfer speeds, or USB 3.2 for a wider compatibility range vs Thunderbolt/USB4 rev.1. That would increase data transfer speeds and charging capability more.
It's gotta be USB 3.2 Gen 1x2 or 3.2 Gen 2x1. USB 3.2 Gen 1x1 previously known as 3.0 or 3.1 is only 5 gbps. But they could have used USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 (20 gbps) or USB4 (40 gbps). Honestly 10 gbps is fine. I just wish they did Stage Manager like on the iPad Pro or Dex on Samsung, but we do get 4K mirroring even on the regular 15.
On one hand, saying its only possible on the Pro Max due to space is fair. The cameras are already huge on the iPhone end, its starting to squeeze in the smaller model. Hence the rumor of 6.3" 6.9" models next year. On the other hand they could've upgraded the 3x on the 6.1" 15 Pro instead of copy-paste from the 14 Pro.
The Pro and the Pro Max models have always been the same with the ONLY differences being the size, weight and battery capacity but I'm not surprised that Apple did this. Just Apple being Apple.
@@DjangoGroen I stand corrected. 12 Pro Max sensor had slightly larger pixels and sensor shift OIS and 2.5x optical zoom instead of 2x optical zoom on the 12 Pro however I think the difference between a 3x telephoto on the 15 Pro and 5x telephoto on the 15 Pro Max is still much bigger than that. The difference between the 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max would hardly be noticeable.

The products were never made for year over year upgrades. Most people now keep smartphones 3 years or more. Why do so many on RUclips complain about year over year crap...All phone manufacturers are the same. Look at the S21, S22, and S23....very moderate incremental updates.
How about the crap the carriers are pulling. You can't use the Apple credit card payments unless you activate through ATT, Verizon, or Tmobile. It forces you to pay the full price upfront to get an unlocked phone for a different carrier.

Thats for 250gb per month and unlimited minutes/texts … the iphone 15 pro is 1099 in store so it works out that i’m paying £59 over to years for data and minutes .. the upfront fee is covered by me selling the 13 pro which i’m hoping will fetch £500 .. so in total it would cost me £658 over the two years …. Works out £27 per month for latest phone .. thats the deal i’ve ordered for my wife …
the only reason we buy new phones nowadays is for better cameras. on the regular Pro model all the cameras are literally identical to the 14 Pro. same ultrawide camera as in the 14 Pro ...Same 3x telephoto camera as in the 13 Pro!! the 5x Periscope camera to me is an absolute no no , a 3x camera with a much larger sensor and a decent 10x digital zoom would have been a much better option. the 77 mm is such a perfect focal for portrait shots.
I usually go for the pro but I know the camera and video is going to be insane on the max, which makes my decision very hard aside from picking a color. The Max is just way too bulky, especially when you have a case on it. Apple developers sure know how to keep us crazy over the phones, laughing to the bank or in their Lamborghini’s and Mansions.
I was disappointed in the presentation as there is still no high refresh rate base 15 and still no charging speed improvement or mention of battery bump plus no always on display when you could buy a Samsung or Pixel A for half the price with these features

I think people are missing one key aspect of this Apple IPhone 15 Pro/Pro Max announcement.. and that’s they literally just introduced the next generation of gaming if they can deliver on what they announced for ray tracing and running modern pc/ console games at a better quality then consoles are obsolete very soon. Just think if you’re a game developer are you going to make a game for a console with a limited market to release to or would you put it on iPhone where millions of people have access to it?

I felt the same the event was so boring. I’m keeping my 14 pro max and my ultra works fine plus I have trade in credit so my bill is cheap every month. I rather save my money every month use for something that will benefit.
Keeping my 14 pro max no point in upgrading it really is the same phone besides usb c. If you don’t do a lot of file transfers it’s pointless your faster charging isn’t going to help you in real time. USB C to lightning and a good brick will charge nearly as fast. The funny thing is most people can’t afford the biggest and best model but always think they need it and buy it due to financing.

They did this with the iPhone 12 Pro Max at 2.5 x zoom so I guess on the 16 pros they will get a 6x zoom on both. If it follows that pattern. Good news in UK we get £100 off the iPhone pros or the same in £ & $ I suppose we still pay more but at least it’s back to iPhone 12 prices. I was getting the the 256gb anyway due to pro raw limited to 1080p but no need now as pro raw only works on external storage
I got the 15 pro max and I’m upgrading from an XR. I’m not happy about being “forced” to use a larger screen/large phone. I though the 6.1 was the perfect size for me. So idk if I will really like it. I wanted the best camera possible as I travel often and want to take amazing quality photos.
You don't have to stay with Apple. I was all Android up until mid 2020, and then switched to iPhone. Gotta tell you, I am not blown away by owning an iPhone or any apple product for that matter. There's a good chance I am going to switch over to Pixel sometime soon.
It’s only 2x extra zoom 12MP so don’t expect a lot from it. And honestly are you using zoom al the time? In the end the main 48MP camera counts. Go for the 15 Pro. 😅
I mean everybody knew that it will be only on pro max for like a year already. In my country iphones got way cheaper. 128 gb 14 pro max cost more than 15 pro max 256. Plus Samsung does it too. Only the biggest one get 10x zoom.
Im no engineer but maybe they didnt have enough room to fit it in a smaller phone without making it heavier or taking away from the battery. Just my thoughts
That's definitely a thought. I did think about that, but it's still not right. They should have found a solution for identical hardware or at least found a way to use a smaller lens for a 5x or similar capability.
while I feel your pain (I've also preferred the smaller one) but NOBODY expected the Pro (non max) to get the periscope style zoom camera, specifically because of space constraints. I bet you that they will add another camera within the next two years that is spaced further to the other side of the phone, about the distance of your eyes, so that they can properly support stereo-video. That will be even harder to put into the smaller body, so I do expect that in the max version only too!
It’s all visual in Apple world. Most iPhone users aren’t interested in it’s performance so much as it’s appearance. The one that tells others you possess the latest iPhone model from their highest tier. Camera power snd storage stats are academic. And the typical iPhone user is NOT an academic!

People will complain that the pro and pro max are not fully equal in features; but the same people will complain that they’re not making the most of the larger sized device 😮💨 Both pro models are a little less wide, and I think all models have a slight curve so it’s more comfortable
Seems simple; the folded optics of the periscope telephoto lens require the extra internal space that the Pro Max chassis has. I’m buying the regular Pro since I don’t want a phone any larger than that, and while I’d love to have the 5x telephoto I definitely don’t feel like Apple is screwing me over somehow just because the smaller Pro doesn’t have that feature (because it physically can’t).
iPhone 16 pro next year will have it .... and have USB type C 3.0...remember is only the 15 pro Max that has faster USB 3 speeds and dedicated chip for console gaming

This is a typical apple move. I thought they could convince me to leave Android but I can get an S23 Ultra at a discounted price that will smack this phone in every way.

I’m still rocking my 12 Mini I had pre-ordered at launch. The battery on the old girl is starting to bark tho, I’m only making it half the day before I have to charge now. I remember when I got the full day out of it. Either way, I hate that everything is so big. Xperia 1 V is looking really tempting but I’ve just seen so many complaints about them here in the US…..
I think people are missing one key aspect of this Apple IPhone 15 Pro/Pro Max announcement.. and that’s they literally just introduced the next generation of gaming if they can deliver on what they announced for ray tracing and running modern pc/ console games at a better quality then consoles are obsolete very soon. Just think if you’re a game developer are you going to make a game for a console with a limited market to release to or would you put it on iPhone where millions of people have access to it?
But iPhone does not have active cooling. SoCs will never match discrete GPUs.
Theres also a way larger market on Android, also I would NOT call it the next gen of gaming there's multiple issues with that statement/consoles will not be obsolete lol

The bigger phones almost always had more features iPhone 7 Plus had dual camera and bigger batteries
They are setting up for next year, regular iPhone, iPhone pro, and iPhone ultra. All will have different features.

The Apple site shows 5x for both models pro and pro max. But below it’s writes 3x and 5x
Pro is 3x, Pro Max is 5X
USB 3.0 is only available on the pro models not the regular models
They couldn't fit the telephoto into the smaller phone. No smartphone the size of the base model pro has a telephoto lens. Every rumor I've read have all said the 5x was only coming to the Pro Max due to size

I felt the same the event was so boring. I’m keeping my 14 pro max and my ultra works fine plus I have trade in credit so my bill is cheap every month. I rather save my money every month use for something that will benefit.
Keeping my 14 pro max no point in upgrading it really is the same phone besides usb c. If you don’t do a lot of file transfers it’s pointless your faster charging isn’t going to help you in real time.
USB C to lightning and a good brick will charge nearly as fast.
The funny thing is most people can’t afford the biggest and best model but always think they need it and buy it due to financing.

They did this with the iPhone 12 Pro Max at 2.5 x zoom so I guess on the 16 pros they will get a 6x zoom on both. If it follows that pattern.
Good news in UK we get £100 off the iPhone pros or the same in £ & $ I suppose we still pay more but at least it’s back to iPhone 12 prices.
I was getting the the 256gb anyway due to pro raw limited to 1080p but no need now as pro raw only works on external storage
Pro res only 4k60p limited to external storage, no limit on 4k30p.
Me personally I’ve never bought a phone for the camera. I’m not a huge picture taker. Just went with the pro this year and put 256GB on it

I got the 15 pro max and I’m upgrading from an XR. I’m not happy about being “forced” to use a larger screen/large phone. I though the 6.1 was the perfect size for me. So idk if I will really like it. I wanted the best camera possible as I travel often and want to take amazing quality photos.
You don't have to stay with Apple. I was all Android up until mid 2020, and then switched to iPhone. Gotta tell you, I am not blown away by owning an iPhone or any apple product for that matter. There's a good chance I am going to switch over to Pixel sometime soon.
It’s only 2x extra zoom 12MP so don’t expect a lot from it. And honestly are you using zoom al the time? In the end the main 48MP camera counts. Go for the 15 Pro. 😅
I mean everybody knew that it will be only on pro max for like a year already. In my country iphones got way cheaper. 128 gb 14 pro max cost more than 15 pro max 256.
Plus Samsung does it too. Only the biggest one get 10x zoom.

Im no engineer but maybe they didnt have enough room to fit it in a smaller phone without making it heavier or taking away from the battery. Just my thoughts
That's definitely a thought. I did think about that, but it's still not right. They should have found a solution for identical hardware or at least found a way to use a smaller lens for a 5x or similar capability.

while I feel your pain (I've also preferred the smaller one)
but NOBODY expected the Pro (non max) to get the periscope style zoom camera, specifically because of space constraints.
I bet you that they will add another camera within the next two years that is spaced further to the other side of the phone, about the distance of your eyes, so that they can properly support stereo-video. That will be even harder to put into the smaller body, so I do expect that in the max version only too!

You bought Pixel Fold and Galaxy 5 Fold for almost 1900 dollars each. If you want the telephoto camera 200 dollars is not a lot considering you spend more for foldables and they are bigger.
As a iphone user but blackberry lover, i think apple doing best as a marketing player, but as a smartphone, iphone definitely is not smart! It’s dumb, but with normal camera while update on newer version and good social scrolling! Thats it! Blackberry was truly smart but without smart marketing

Not too excited for the 15pro max.. ill stick with my s23 ultra and probably get the s24 ultra. I was gonna switch but i agree with you.. i hate the blockiness of the deisgn. Not comfortable to hold at all.
People will complain that the pro and pro max are not fully equal in features; but the same people will complain that they’re not making the most of the larger sized device 😮💨
Both pro models are a little less wide, and I think all models have a slight curve so it’s more comfortable
Seems simple; the folded optics of the periscope telephoto lens require the extra internal space that the Pro Max chassis has. I’m buying the regular Pro since I don’t want a phone any larger than that, and while I’d love to have the 5x telephoto I definitely don’t feel like Apple is screwing me over somehow just because the smaller Pro doesn’t have that feature (because it physically can’t).

iPhone 16 pro next year will have it .... and have USB type C 3.0...remember is only the 15 pro Max that has faster USB 3 speeds and dedicated chip for console gaming
