Glad you did this tutorial. I'm new to journaling and before seeing this, I would have cut the single page free or just carefully torn it out. But now I see how many double-wide pages I've destroyed that would have been very pretty to use as centerfolds in signatures or possibly used as the front and back covers of the journal itself. Thanks for admitting me into your Facebook group. Be BLESSED!

Your more than welcome Mary and I must admit that the first couple I used I did exactly the same as I was to afraid to just take it all apart but like you I soon realised how many pages I had ruined because of it 🌻

It’s nice to see how people go at taking a book apart. Thanks for making this video.Love the story of your first encounter with the book. I have never heard of it until I started crafting. I have copies myself but I wish I could find one in a different language.🙂

Very helpful and an interesting sorting method. It makes sense when you see how to do it, but I needed to be shown it!!! Will save loads of time instead of flicking through everything each time. P..S. Still have no bath or shower, 5 days now !!😢. Spoke to someone today and apparently it’s the Irish way, promise you the world but never get round to it. TFS 😻x

Hi Tania, I originally purchased this book almost 40 years ago, when I worked in a book shop in the city at the tender age of 18. It still resides on my bookcase! Since watching junk journal videos, I have found quite a few in varying conditions, to be revived in my crafting. What wonderful memories this has recalled. Thank you so much for all that you share. XX

Interested to see how you take apart the book and sort your pages. I think Edith would be very happy to see other artists using her work. I liked your story, l remember my mum's copy in the late seventies. Did you know there was an Edwardian Lady TV series? 😊

      I know there's a dvd I'm guessing that's the series then. What's it like?
      Yes was late 70s/early 80s.
Haha I didn't want a barrage of people saying I can't believe you take a Edith book apart 🌻if I hadn't have seen it again in junk Journals I. Probably would have totally forgotten about it - which would have been a massive shame as it brings me so much joy. Working with it and looking at my personal copy 🌻

I feel the same way...I think the original artist/writer would be more pleased that we are reinventing their work rather than abandoning it on a shelf or worse a dumpster!

Ok Tania I have to admit I had a tear in my eyes when I started cutting my book. I'd never of the book or the Author until I started junk Journaling. I immediately bought one and I've looked at it and fell in love with it. I've admired the beautiful writing, the amazing art and the feel of it. I've been displaying it on my shelf since. Today I did something I think I'd ever do. Now I'm going to appreciate it in other ways. Hope I do it justice. BTW.....I just ordered another one. Lol!

I'm glad I got my point across 😁 it's a stunning book and it's great having one on the bookshelf especially to share with grandchildren (so that they know about the book) but it's also so inspiring to work with and I do think Edith would be tickled pink to know that even 100 years after that people are using it in there own art projects.
I hope you really enjoy working with it 🌻

I first bought the Edith Holden books when my youngest, now 24, was in preschool and I used it as background in nature corners. Those first copies are falling apart now so I'm thrilled to be able to use them in a different way. I have to admit though that I was unwilling to pull them apart without having replacement copies. Fortunately I found replacement copies at a reasonable price, not an easy feat these days, and also purchased one for only about $6 USD in German (I was seriously pleased with myself with that one. 😄).
This was a really helpful video since I've never taken a book completely apart with the idea of using it in a journal. I'm really looking forward to more on this project!

I love the sorting idea.. which I also do, but I do mix the images & books they originated from. Do you keep all the various sources separate like that? And from there do you put that back into the book cover or just in a different filing system?

    • @Tania-Tatttytreasure
      @Tania-Tatttytreasure  3 года назад +1

No up to yet I've only done this with Edith.
With other books I've one of those folders with sections in it and I use a section per book.
I've a couple of books I'm yet to use but I will do them the same as Edith. Put they will probably be sorted into 2 (full images and ones to fussy cut, unless they have fabulous text) I just find it easier
