Guys, I watch your videos religiously on my Roku, I don't comment very often. I just wanted to chime in today to say thank you for sharing your expertise online. Your videos are very enjoyable to watch. Love watching your troubleshooting technique and thorough manner and clean up of all the machines you work on. Keep at it guys!
Thanks Jason! We appreciate you watching. See you on the next one
As a retired Electronics Technician from the Navy, I love your videos. To see something broke and troubleshot takes me back. Thanks
Ron you are the bomb! oh yeah If anyone was wondering what happened to the missing lettering on that cooked coil wrapper, Its burned into my finger lol.
lol, I was going to complain about the lights on but you beat me to it. Complaining about the lights off is like complaining about too much H2O in water.
I remember the very first time I encountered an actual Space Invaders arcade game, I was doing my year 6 in Subiaco in Perth, Western Australia, at the time and as a school excursion we went to a local roller-skating rink, anyway, after I did a few laps of the rink, I decided to have a break because I was getting a bit tired, so, I exit the rink, and I go to sit down at a table when I hear a bassy sound like this "Bup, Bup, Bup, Bup" my curiosity got the better of me so I followed the sound to it's source and saw a Space Invaders arcade game, it was the black and white version if my memory serves me right, I think it would have been about 1981 or so, I watched what was on the screen with fascination, fond memories from my childhood.
Thanks for sharing this machine. I think that’s one of the best looking pinball machines out there. clearly the owner is proud of it and taking great care of it.
You were spot on, "EL" is the EU (European Commission) country code for Greece.
You absolutely must create a sock puppet! It would be an awesome addition to your channel in your format. Anytime you talk about safety while working on machines you could bring out Mr. safety sock. And use your awesome voice for Mr. safety sock to tell us what we need to know. 🤪
So, for all y'all that wanna complain about flipper size here ya go! 😛
Personally, I think it's really cool that it has both! The infinity mirror is mega cool too! The sounds, excellent! What a great machine I'd love to play it too! Well done as always! 😃
I watch every one of your guys videos! Thanks for the content.I’m going to attempt my first arcade repair this weekend just picked up a wing shooter with a dead monitor wish me luck!
that sound card is fantastic , i could just sit all night and listen to it being played.
Ireland is Ireland and northern Ireland is the UK. Hello from Dublin Ireland. Keep up the good work.
Ahhhhh, there's two Irelands! I forgot about that. Thank you for watching in Dublin!!!!
Ok, NOW I want one of these. Might have to bite on the one that's for sale nearby. Nice work. Thanks for the videos.
Loved this game back in the day. It was a real sound and vision experience. Best in a dark arcade with the sound up LOUD!
Ronnie I would love to see some videos on Atari 2600 repairs like the ones you showed in this video. This Space Invaders is absolutely beautiful.
Ya, that space invaders march sound is great. Always gives me a hurried rushed feeling.
Great machine though. Really good action!
Got to see one of these in the flesh a few years back… agree the theme and backglass are awesome, one you’d like to have in your collection for that alone! Wasn’t the most fun game to play but maybe I just didn’t play it enough. Great videos as always. Thanks
It's all good tho I love watching your vids and I do understand. But I'm still ex to always see what's next for u guys keep up the great work
What a clean, handsome game. The invader on the backglass is a truly scary looking creature. Imagine if it was really coming after you….I bet the owner is gonna appreciate those newly adjusted flippers. Great work Ronnie.
Nicest machine I've seen on the channel since I've started watching. Wish I had one of these. Really nice, great video as well, even if I did fall asleep during the package opening session, Lol.
Life is a story
Your own unique tale to tell
Write it with joy
3 of the best,i`ve owned 2of em..Vector Xenon Space Invaders(not owned) But avidly playied it whenever i saw it..Amazing thank you guys x
That looks so awesome.
I love the look and the sounds.
I can't wait to see the action
It's pretty fun!
Thanks for the video! DE stands for German (Deutschland), NL is for Netherlands (Dutch).
Great video, you have it working great. Playing pinball in the dark is way to go. I am just amazed in how big a widebody machine is compared to regular pinball machine. Thanks for saving another classic pinball machine. See you on the next video.
Thanks for this video, amazing repair. And we have proof playing in the dark is so much better
Fantastic looking game, looks great craic to play (lights on and lights off). This machine sat next to the original arcade machine is going on my lotto win wishlist.
Picking one up tomorrow. Now I know what to
Look for. Thank you for all your attention to details!!!
great tip , thanks for sharing.
i guess the machine isn't broke anymore....
You need "The Clapper", man! Clap on! Clap off! Either way, I love it!
What a great light and sound gameplay experience. Thanks for the video. I once heard Ringo say Rain was one of his favorite songs.
If it makes you feel any better, I only complain about the glare in my head. I'm just glad you share your knowledge and experience with us.
This is actually really cool to see one of these in action.
Great video and thanks for showing the parcel. Glad it got there safe! 😉 Regards
Thanks again - love your videos.. Very cool game. now I want to play one..
S.A. stands for societe anonyme...meaning anonymous society french equivalent of INC. in North America...so read it as Nestle inc.(s.a.)....😊 Cheers man
It also stands for Sociedad Anonima, spanish equivalent of an INC in North America LOL You can see where this gets confusing to people with no stake in the game
I like the side lanes on this one. You have two lanes that go back to the flippers and one that goes to drain. The one that goes to drain also has bumpers that make it harder to hit.
I also can't wait for next month with u guys when u do a vid a day for December
Unfortunately we're not going to do that this year, each video gets about half the views it normally gets if we run them day to day, people can't keep up!
45:20 I have ONCE in a computer pinball game managed to get the ball to stick right on top of an obstacle... that game only had the "belly bump" nudge, nothing sideways, and no, I could not dislodge the ball. Had to quit to get anywhere from that point.
The pop bumper noises are awesome.
One bad ass machine, Thanks for sharing.
This machine is hunnerd proof proof that pinball needs to be played in the dark. The chase light pattern that reflects off the glass looks like shots from the invaders coming down the glass toward the player. ... Could just be me 😂😂😂
Bummed I just missed out on one for $1500. What a gorgeous game.
Thanks Ron! Sweet machine!
DE is German and NL is dutch (Netherlands)
greetings bro
I looked up the country code EL and you were right - Greece.
Very cool machine, very cool video!
Wasn’t this the game that had a ROM update for the match sequence because there were no 10pt switches? You could only match on 00 or 50?
Some of those sound effects really sound like Williams machines like Joust and Robotron 2084...
It’s baked .. B-AAA-K-E-D!
So much cooler with lights out does that new board allow for leds?
Every time you say “super wide body”, it reminds me of my wife for some reason. 🤷♂️
The flipper coil will eventually burn up if the EOS switch isn't disconnected at the end of stroke. This can usually happen if the flipper is mechanically stuck in such a way that the pawl never opens the EOS switch, or EOS switch is not adjusted correctly. It could also burn up if the low power section is disconnected. In such case, the flipper will sound like a machine gun, since the entire coil loses power as soon as EOS is disconnected. The flipper drops to rest position, since the coil is not energized and as it goes to rest position, the EOS switch is reconnected, giving the power to the coil once again and the whole cycle repeats. While the flipper is doing such thing you might notice the EOS sparking quite excessively, especially if the EOS capacitor, or the switch itself is worn out due to the inductive voltage spike being generated. The high power section shouldn't be active all the time while the flipper button is held down during gameplay.
The Bally Flippers of that era were really powerful. Far cry from the junk Williams flippers of the same era. They didn't need any help from adjusting the EOS super tight. It's much better to make sure you don't lock on the primary winding when only the hold winding should be getting power. You'll fry the coils in no time.
Yeah, Pound Town definitely means something else in the US.
I'm very sorry, NL: The Netherlands, me, thank you very much :D
Ronnie: How did. you get into fixing old pinball machines? Was this something one of your family members was into?
I am the Alpha and the Omega
Hey Ron!!
Hey Jason!
It would have been cool if the table continued to reach a higher and higher pitch to speed up play as you "destroyed" the enemy ships.
You probably know by now, Greece is denoted with EL or GR. GR is obvious but EL is short for Elláda (EL), which btw is the the official name of Greece, the Hellenic Republic. Lots of countries do this. Like you'd think Switzerland would be SW but no, they use CH which is the Confœderatio Helvetica. ta da.
27:59 That's greek indeed, EL stands for Ellas/Hellas which is how greek people call Greece 😉
30:00 What we call a food calorie in the US is actually 1000 real calories.
Yeah, kcal = calories, or more accurately, kilocalories. We just decided to leave off the kilo- part because unit calories are too insignificant of a measurement.
Food Calories are exactly as you say, 1000 "heat" calories. In the US food Calories are usually denoted by a capital "C".
So 1 Calorie is equal to 1,000 calories.
In the EU they just call them kcals.
36:20 I hate to break it to you that is not Space Invader sounds, those are from Astroids.
Why was the rule set of the machine set up so the lowest scoring award was 50 points? There isn’t any 10 point shots. Was there any reason for this?
I'm from the 80s I have never seen one of these GAMES. Never
600nm orange LED displays does look a lot like neon in plasma displays._
This pinball machine (Space Invaders) appears in the "Captain Marvel" movie see if you can spot it (its a good little gag)
Please fix your alternate lighting. There is a glare that wah, and the dark is too wah. 😂
I thought Flipper was a dolphin? 😁
You're going to be very confused when I start working on this Dolphin pinball machine I have here
@@LyonsArcadeim confused enough as it is Ronnie🙂
According to Mad Magazine Flipper was really Lassie in a dolphin costume 😂
🤔 And nobody made a Lassie pinball machine - but it probably would have had flippers if they did 😕
Come on Ronnie and sock puppet time
Howdy U-All
EL is Ellada, Greek for Greece.
Just replace the flipper coils
With Heavy Duty ones
Yodelayheehoo
WWWIIIIDDDEEE!!!
Not going to lie there Ron, I wish we would make more stuff here. Fact is, too many aren't willing to pay for what it costs. Look at cars now. Everybody screams "CEO PAY". No, LEGACY COSTS are a big part of it. Making "Obscene" profits of $10B is NOTHING, a major truck or vehicle launch is $2B today. That's paid out in LAUNCH YEAR, it doesn't include the revamp costs. People think that making "profits" is bad and that the CEOs eat it all. They don't. Can't explain it to people because the brainwashing that has gone on. This is finance and economics 101.
Now then, the thing is, we might be able to make a deck of cards here. We MIGHT be able to do it for all of $0.15 more per deck than the import. But when it's 10 MILLION decks of cards? That's $1.5M in 'loss' to a companies bottom line. That doesn't include the fact that even in a fully automated plant, that had few workers, those workers are still getting big wages to be there...5 to 10 times what the low cost option is...and the medical, insurance, and other benefits are peanuts too. WE, yes WE THE PEOPLE created this by wanting what the 1% have, and WE THE PEOPLE have decided they want EVERYTHING. Sad what we have become as a people...
if given the option, I refuse to buy China. They're building the crap with slave children.
EL. is Greek.
Ainda tenho um game em casa, mas as vezes da saudades da manutenção de Pimball
Ireland (The Rep of Ireland) is part of the EU, in the 90's they invited all these major corporations to have offices and based them in Dublin to avoid paying taxes elsewhere. basically they sold out Dublin for multinational corporations.
Ahhh, thank you for that info.
The UK+NI is the "United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland">
Cornwall+Wales+England and Scotland are all on one island>
Great Britain(Great meaning "big"< "Prydein" being a celtic Brittonic name for the island.
Northern Ireland, a part of Ulster, part of the Kingdom of Ireland under the united Monarch after James the 1st/6th< Who inherited the throne of England+Ireland in 1603.
The red striped saltire in the Union Jack flag, that goes over the white saltire (Scotland) is the St.Patricks saltire that represents Northern Ireland in the UK.
Dublin is most definitely not in the UK. Dublin is the capital of the Republic of Ireland.
Northern Ireland is 6 counties of historic Ulster that are a part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain (The big island) and Northern Ireland.
