I bought a bally playboy from an operator in the 80's, and he was notorious for cutting all the rectifier board connectors (I think it's J1, J2, & J3) and soldering the wires directly to the pins. And that was the more subtle of his hacks. BTW, I told Donnie that it's easier to find pictures of Bigfoot than pictures of you. He told me that that you're in federal witness protection! C'mon people! 😂
Great game, one of the best electro mechanical pinball layouts of all time in my opinion. I owned this title and eventually sold it. Years later I purchased " Eldorado" the single player version of this particular layout.
Great repair of the worn playfield, … as usual Ronnie. This game looks real handsome now, and is ready for troubleshooting. The Gottlieb’s of the 60s and 70s are simply among the finest pinball machines ever made. This is one example of their best work. Thanks for posting and educating us all.
Hey Nate! I'm the guy who brought you that machine. Loved the videos so far. You are absolutely right about that mod. I had no idea that was there or what it even did. I noticed the wire in Video 1 and thought, "He sees that. He is gonna explain that. Someone else tried to do something that wasn't normal, but Nate gonna fix that right up. I just gotta wait and see what he says." Lo and behold i was not disappointed. Stellar Job!
From memory I've seen Ron say in a number of other videos he specifically doesn't film that part because there is a number of ways to do it and when people see the way he does it they lose their minds in the comments. More than the usual complaints.
Great video in the series. Playfield looks great you and Joe did a great job. Thats a lot of drop targets on the game. I am glad you fixed that scoring wiring issue. Thanks for filming Ronnie. See you on the next video.
Pen set is $28. Somebody appreciates you. You were using a .7 from what I saw. Looks like a .8 or .9 would have done nicely for you. As it was you have a steady hand and quite good at that part of the job. Fun watching this. If you check those pens, let us know how they held up under Poly.
That right slingshot must be pretty powerful if it could consistently launch the ball to make it smack that spot in the middle of the playfield and wear the paint down.
Thanks again Ron! Always greatful for you filming these! Seems to me, that if the drop targets score 2000 points each, its may wrap or max the high score a bit easily? Maybe reducing the score of the 'easy to hit' drop targets makes the game harder in a good way (guessing why it was modded). Also, 2000 points per drop target is more than the bonus score painted on the playfield for each one downed. I'm right with you though about keeping stuff original [definitely usually my choice too], but I wonder if that mod may originally have been quite common, maybe these tables had a habit of 'over scoring' (after all, as a player, if you can easily wrap the score on the table you don't feel the need to come back and "prove yourself" with higher scores, you already got the highest possible). Just a bit of conjecture there. So, for my taste, since it makes the game challenging and its a change already made, I'd have been inclined to leave it as is. Though, again, I can see the motivator for restoring its original function, so respect to your decision (and not having played the table, I'm making many assumptions based on how 2000*15=30,000 takes us 1/3 of the total possible score showable on 5 score reels).
That yellow match was really good or it showed that way on your video. would you ever clear the flipper abrasion from the flipper dragging to seal the wood or wood you strictly rely on the wax. I have always painted a little polly and spot buffed it with a dremel wheel later
Enjoy your Videos! We all have our favorite machines... Ron, you've been around for a while. Do you have a couple at the top of your list? Thanks again!
Not really, I have a lot of them I really like. I really like the 80's Gottlieb Premier games, the late 70's Bally stuff, and the 60's Gottlieb E.M.'s but the 60's Bally E.M.'s I like a lot too. I don't really have any specific ones I like a lot more than the others...
If youre meaning what Ralph Mooney was to steel guitars and Waylon Jennings was to country music..Ronnie is to pinballs and arcades, then I wholeheartedly agree..but if you don't agree with that tough titties 😂
Ronnie & Joe ……..Ever thought of releasing a few videos w/ a brief introduction and then 55 minutes or so of your most cool music? I find myself playing your videos just for the music! 🎉
If I saw purple flowers in someone's house, I'd call the law. Hey, you have to take a stand against domestic violets. And it is interesting that "purple" is not scientifically a color. Violet is the highest-frequency visible color while purple is a mixture of red and blue. You can also tell what my favorite color is. I am said to be quite a porphyrous lady. (Porphyrous is a very old word for purple.)
If I may give my honest opinion in which I'm not trying to be mean, rude, or to criticize, or anything else at all whatsoever but what I was thinking is instead of repeating in every video the explanation of how to do such and such, or for example this video the explanation about the acrylic paint and all that maybe explain it in every other video or even make a playlist of dedicated videos explaining each individual thing broken down by video. Like one video specifically about play field cleaning waxing etc, they could be in order aswell starting with how you specifically go about working through the table aswell. Like video one is about Jones plug cleaning. I'm simply suggesting this as I have noticed recently that a huge portion of the videos are/have become repeated explanations of things that has been repeated for near 100 or so videos it seems. Please don't take this as hate or criticism as I couldn't do any better, have no experience making videos similar or anything of such. I was purely looking at it from the context of being able to fit more new content so to speak in each video that way there would be less part 4 of 5 type of videos on machines you could include a link in the description of each video to the explanation video that pertains to the thing that needs explaining. I'm just trying to give honest feedback and help.. I feel there wouldn't be enough new viewers consistently compared to the current subscribers and viewers to need/require the detailed explanation each time in every video. I understand the reasoning and why you do it. Seems like it may be in most circumstances bloat filling space up in the video time. Anyway you make great videos, do great work, good job! I would love to save up money to make the long drive to your store to buy a pinball machine one day :D
The only problem with your idea is that most of the viewers are new. I have 55,000 subscribers and 54,000 of them haven't watched the video yet... we get new people constantly, and they ask the same questions constantly, and if I don't say it in the video they ask the same question I didn't mention in the video, LOL
@@LyonsArcade speaking just for myself, I agree with you, I like it being re-explained myself. Presses home the importance and means someone who's just looking for details of some particular machine doesn't miss out (and end up with a runny mess). Though, respect your view point as well @DankNoodles420. Nice feedback and politely observed.
@@LyonsArcade I've been watching your channel from up here in Canada for some time. I have a crappy memory so don't mind you repeating stuff Ron. Just makes it better when I hear your voice in my head when I fix my own machines. Cheers from Canada!
Rarely do I like watching a musical montage with sped up video, but the ones on this channel are great! Hypnotic and educational at the same time.

Looking Good!
It amazes me how good you can mix/match the colors with the old paint from the playfield(s)

Thank you again man, what a great game! Enjoy it!!!
Could you show how you spray on the clear coat on the playfield on your next video....Thanks I really appreciate your videos!!

The playfield turned out great. I would love to have this pinball machine!
Top notch paint job there! She's come up a beaut.

Use naphtha to clean the wax off the playfield people.😁Test in an inconspicuous spot (like under the apron) first.🧐

It could be that the replacement flipper bushings are replicas of worn out bushings. That happens a lot with car parts.
Awesome! Thanks for these videos. One question, what do you use to remove the wax?
That music 🔥
I had to lower the volume so my wife wouldn’t think it was… ummm… NOT a pinball video.
That looks slick!

Maybe one day!
It's still broke...
Oops.... sorry Joe... didn't mean to steal your thunder.
😛
Does anyone know what color red was used? I'm trying to match a similar Gottlieb playfield. Tx for follow up.
good morning u-all
Happy Saturday morning to ya 😁
Good Morning!
If people don't know already gottlieb has a game called El Dorado that's the same play Field layout as this game. Just a different theme
Question: why don't you mask the playfield before you paint?
Don't you mean..who put the bomp in the bomp bah bomp bah bomp? 🕺
Yodelayheehoo
Don't night owl people come on now
