I have to use very thick socks which do help, plus insoles, , but ultimately I need a smaller skate size. I made Costly mistake of rushing trying them on in shop.

Totally right! Most video’s content concentrates on how to fit properly, but none of what to do if they are not proper size.
Thanks a lot, now I can sleep peacefully knowing I can fix my mistake 🙌🏻

thank you i have a pair of figure skates that are one size too big and everyone in the figure skating community has been obnoxiously unhelpful when it comes to mitigating the damage 😭 people seriously refuse to give me any advice other than dropping $500+ on a pair of brand new skates

Yeah, the "size to size and a half down" in the States also only applies to people with "normal" feet. I wear US10.5 (D width) footwear normally. I followed the conventional advice, and suffered nothing but foot pain.
Eventually, as a last ditch before quitting the sport, I tried going larger and wider based on a recommendation from a skate pro in New York. My current skates are US11 (EE width). I have been skating pain free for years now.
I have a flat, low volume (top to bottom, not side to side) foot. I thought for years that my feet were narrow because the eyelets on my shoes and boots were always so close together. But, it was because by foot was not tall, and the tops were just able to wrap around more.
Superfeet insoles (non-carbon) are great, and waxed laces are a MUST! For thicker socks, look at merino wool or synthetic hiking socks (Thorlos for example).

Oh my gosh, you fixed my skates!!!! I am a US woman's 7, bought an 8 on accident/bad advice. I took your advice (and added kinetic sand in sealed thick wrap in the toe) and it fixed it! (I have skinny heels so needed an extra boost, the sand did the trick). Thank you!!!!

What to do if your feet are not the same size. I guess I will be wearing two socks on one and one sock on the other. The lacing tips sounds great, will try them out next time on the ice.

Oh man I have the same problem. I have to go return my skates because of it. They would have been perfect otherwise.

I'm shoe size 10-1/2 to 11. My Reidell 220s are size 10. Perfect fit. My Bauer Supreme M5s are size 8. After baking them and breaking them in, I can see going to a 7-1/2 for a pro fit, maybe 7 even. Skates that are too big don't work well. If your skates are too big, get smaller skates.

For serious potential foot chafing activities I have to wear two pairs of socks. The inner pair being tight, non-absorbent synthetic, and the outer pair being a thicker wool rich mix. Some insoles are very thick. I have used the full Sorbathane ones, which provided very good cushioning but they add quite a bit of weight - not what you want when rollerbladeyskating.

I appreciate you so much!! I was gifted a beautiful pair of higher-end used skates that I certainly can't replace, and they're just slightly too big for me. Gonna snag myself some insoles and wax laces and see if they do the trick!

This is super helpful, because I just got a pair of inline skates and when I measured my foot size was a 9 but it was super super close to a 10 like maybe a centimeter or smaller from a 10 and I went for the 10 as that is what the store had and it does fit like my toes aren't curled and my heel feels fine but I'm worried they're slightly big cause my feet are flexing pretty severely. I want to try better insoles, maybe look into thicker socks might be good. I got to try using my shoe insoles that is a good idea and the superfeet ones are the ones are the ones I'm gonna try out. I got flat feet and the flexing is super super painful. I almost thought to quit in all honestly. Wax laces are what I'm thinking of as well. I'm gonna try these out, thank you! I'm hoping the pain either goes away or reduces significantly because the only time I'm having any fun or no pain is when I do everything right like weight distribution, posture, etc I was thinking of a 9.5 but there doesn't seem to be one for the skates I got :/ there definitely is a need for more information like this.

You can use heel wedges, after market footbeds, wear thick socks, etc., but you need to be fairly close to start with. A lot of what she's talking about here is fit, not size. Size is just length, just the start of properly fitting skates. The truth is, you need to asses size quickly and return your skates if they don't fit. Loose skates suck, and you'll never be the skater you can be with your feet sliding around.

I don’t know how to figure out my skate size :( my foot is 26cm and 10.5cm wide. I’m shoe size 7 UK. My ankles slip in box size 6 Bauer’s and I get asked if my skates are the right size, but size charts tell I should go for 6/6.5 bauers box size. Confused

Hi I was wondering about the tip to tie your laces - every 4th eyelet from the inside out, how do you actually "tie them" if you follow this method. Is there a link or can you do a follow up video ?

Size charts are bullshit. I measured my foot in mm and tried to find charts that convert it to eu shoe size, out of 3 charts, I found 3 different answers.
