    Thank you for this advice about shell sizes and liners. I agree 100% "It's always nice to have a little bit more room at your toe." So many other people are recommending having your toes touching the end of the skate while standing straight up. I never want the tips of my toes touching anything. After skating for awhile your feet will expand. Too tight will cut off circulation. If you want to enjoy skating the skates need to be comfortable. Maybe if you are going for a gold medal you want your feet crammed into your skates, otherwise comfort is Queen. I wish I could come to your shop and buy skates. Buying online is a real challenge.

      Yep, everyone on reddit tells new people to buy extremely tight skates, it's really disgusting because that advice has cost me a lot of money and made me endure a lot of pain.

    • @BlackyRay_Patrick

      @@divisionoflabor3070t doesnt mean uncomfortable.
      If something hurted they were eitherway to small or didnt fit your footshape...
      If skates are to big you will have multiple problems.
      Your feet will move inside the boot. Due to it you will have week power transfer so you will exhaust faster, you will have extremely lack of balance. How do you want to balance if your foot and boot are always out of sync? And due to the movement most likely get extremely hurtfull blisters and most likely ankle pain since you cant stand straight in your boot due to the missing support and movement...
      If they have the exact fitting size they will just feel great and no matter how kuch you tighten them you also wont run out of blood circulation....
      Half of my live i wasnt able to stand on one foot and this was mainly because of extremely comfortable but one size to big k2 softboots.
      I cant tell you how frustrating it is if you make 0 progress and especially if its mostly because of lack of your equipment...

    Really happy to have come across this video. I would like to share my last experience with buying the FR1 80 and maybe help some of you guys out.
    I am a size 36 (EUR) or 23 in mondopoint (my feet are 230 mm long).
    BUT I wear a shoe size 37 because the upper side of my heel bone sticks out so it makes my feet longer.
    A couple of days ago I bought a new pair of FR1 80 skates in size 37 EUR (my normal shoe size). The guy from the store strongly recommended NOT to upsize because the liners would eventually break in. After I came home I’ve tried them out and went outside to skate a little, no tricks just flat ground. An hour later I strongly felt the pressure on my big toes because they touch the tip of the liner.
    After I came back home I’ve tried two pairs of my old skates and in neither of them I felt my toes touching the tips.
    The guy in the video is absolutely right: do NOT buy the skates if there isn’t any room left between your bigger toes and the inside of the liner. You will not be feeling comfortable and eventually you will regret not having bought the bigger size.
    It’s not the same with the width tho: that WILL break in, so if you still have room in your toes but the skates feel too tight in the width, keep them and just wear some thick socks for a couple of days and they will get wider.
    The double sizing sucks indeed, because now I will have to exchange the 37 shell for a 39 shell, which is two sizes bigger instead of just one (which I need). The liner will be 38, but as you saw in the video the difference is minimal. But I’d rather have an extra sole or an extra pair of socks than to bear the pain of my toes hitting the inside of the skate.
    It is (as the video says) much more important to lace up well and tight so the skates hold your leg and the middle of your foot well, but it does not really matter if you have plenty of room in the toes. I have skated in way bigger sizes than my own and never lost control nor had any other complaints.
    This subject isn’t as popular as it should be, so I hope this helps!

      @@marlonmj5 Update: I’ve exchanged the 36-37 for a 38-39 and they fit much better. Same feeling in width, just more room for the toes. Even a 39 was okay. So I recommend to everyone who is doubting: if you feel too much pressure on your toes, just go for a bigger size! I’ve read a lot of comments and everyone seems to have the same problem. Sizing up is the message!

    thank you for the really helpful info. One question: can you clarify your policy again with sizing? When you say "big", or "small", it's not entirely clear what you mean. Are you talking about thickness of the liners, or space *inside* the liners? Is your policy to only stock the *thickest* liners? So for a 43-44 shell, you will only stock size 43 so that it's the thickest liner, or is it the other way around where you stock the *thinnest* liner option, so that for a 43-44 shell, you will only stock size 44?

      @@marlonmj5 I just got the Powerslide urban imperial yellow in 39-40 dualsize. My toes touch the front of the Fatboy myfit liner, it does have a stretchable toe, but I'm thinking of returning it for a 41-42.

    • @marlonmj5
      @marlonmj5 3 года назад

      @@SuuzieQ I have an older version where the toe isn't stretchable. If you fit inside the shell without the liner, also width wise, either you can heatmold the liner, or buy a slimer one like Skinny boy. Don't heatmold it if you return the skates. I don't know if I would recommend to buy a bigger size as it might be too big for you (it will be comfy though). Maybe another brand would work better :)

    Hi, my foot is 260mm(41 EU).which size do you recommend for fifth element??

    • @theferkesdos8665
      @theferkesdos8665 3 года назад

      Hi, it all depends on the liner. You can take the 5th element 40 EU, throw out the standard liner and put a thin 41EU, then you will get perfect control. Or you can take 41EU shell and ride in a standard liner, but you will feel that there is still room.

    Companies need to wake up. sizes need to be more varied. Hence 40 and 41 should be closer, 42 and 43, and so on... 3:02. I hate that I have wear bigger skates than I should. Some skates are basically covering 8-9.5 with one size... like the Aeons... they have just 8/9 and 10/10.5... my feet will basically start to lose circulation in the 8/9 but feel like im sliding around in 10/10.5

    I haven't watched the whole video yet so I apologize if you cover this, but is this applicable to every manufacturer? 46 was a bit too big for me (I wear 45 in shoes) and I was thinking of trying 45's on, but according to this information, they will be pretty much the same size with no noticeable difference? They are K2's.

    it`s simply a matter of money - each mould costs thousands of euros/dollars. The M12 sucks if you`re a (rather wide) Euro 40, like me. The 39-40 is WAY to small, the 41-42 is WAY to long especially.

    • @HollyBoni

      But I still hate that some manufacturers or shops simply don't mention shell sizing, and a lot of people don't know how shell sizing works. My two favourite are Razors and Remz who "make" a 43, 44, and 45, but they all use the same size shell. 😁 You see people all the time asking on reddit, facebook etc. "so i'm a 43, should I get a 43 or a 44 SL?"...

    Locoskates have a disclaimer to state the they know the uk-eu size lioks wrong. Its not powerslide like to yse unauthodox sizing😂😂. My feet are wide and my arch doesnt really arch so combined sizing is a big help and definitely stops the fals advertising 🏆
